The boys are still drifting this WILD river in Cape York, Far Northern Australia. Its day 4 in the wilderness and they've found a stretch of river that produces the best Barra fishing they've ever seen, they're not all huge but EVERY cast is producing good fish. But to cover enough klms in the day, find a safe camp before dark and CATCH AND COOK dinner it can't be all fun and games and they have to keep moving. Join the adventure by subscribing and send the boys some comments.

The weird night bird noises are probably Papuan Frogmouth, Nightjar (prob large tailed) or Barking owl.

Hey Townsville sound, yep I think you are spot on. The Wenlock River is its own little eco system and is LOADED with wildlife. such a special place. I haven't spotted a barking owl yet but plenty of Night jars and Papuan Frogmouths.

make the episodes as long as they need to be. If it’s an action packed day then 40 minutes it is. If not much happens, 10 minutes is also fine.

hi there I love the show, I have done similar things when younger but being an idiot for I was allway's on my own. What I found out to help me through the shallows was a small parachute for it does the dragging for me. I had a 24 inch military one, but I suppose a sea anchor would do the job. It may help in the future,

Wow, what an idea, thanks mate. I was considering making up some kind of inflatable contraption with more surface area than the boat to float the vessel over flats but that's a while off coming together...

BTW Australian crocs behave very similarly to Nile crocs so I know what I'm telling you is safe and not misleading. I'm a survivor of a croc attack!!! it was only 420mm long and I was engaged in research measuring croc growth rates :)

Damn this place looks incredible! Hey another question - do the crocs ever grab fish while they're being reeled in?
@WildReaches
@WildReaches 4 жыл бұрын
Yep this river is truly amazing. In the Salt Water stretches yes they can grab a fish if its a long fight but in the freshwater they seem to be different beasts. Very stealth like and cunning. So no Iv never had one taken in the fresh.

FYI when crocs or any wildlife see you they cannot identify you as a human or an animal if you are sitting in a boat or a vehicle. They see the shape as a large living creature. We call it the boma effect in Africa. When you STEP away from a tree/boat/vehicle, thats when you are most vulnerable. Animals can see you as a moving mammal and will decide if the size of you warrants the risk. Its a universal rule of the thumb for bush people/game rangers/wardens the world over. And 75% of the time wild animals have an inbuilt fear of the human shape. Im afraid that does not apply to crocs!! They are not very mentally deep! So stay sitting in the boat or huddled up next to a tree and you will be ok!!
@WildReaches
@WildReaches 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. That makes sense from what we've seen in the wild. Iv always put it down to how much danger would the animal put itself in to come and attack me. they are cunning creatures in my opinion and will wait for an opportunity. Appreciate your information mate
