Sairee Beach is famous but Ko Tao (Koh Tao) has incredible beaches all over the tiny island. We rented a motorbike in town and spent two days exploring.

Ko Tao was much smaller than we expected and easy to get around. But I loved our no frills hotel, which didn't have amenities but the deluxe double room was huge and looked out onto the jungle. I loved it. Wifi was strong. Staff were so nice and offered free snorkeling gear ours leaked both days so it could be me?

We traveled from Bangkok by bus then ferry and it was surprisingly easy. BUT get to the morning meeting point an hour before, all the drunken backpackers show up right beforehand and it's chaos.

🛵 Motorcycle rental prices seem to be all over the place and some seem kind of shady. We booked at Koya Thai Food right in town. The people are nice and the bikes are in great shape.

Nam-Pla-Prik or Prik-Nam-Pla, you can call both name.If you like quiet island let’s try Koh Phayam at Ranong Province very nice and quiet beach less tourist.

This island is on my list! I also need to find a spot for a few weeks that has good internet so I can settle down and work for a bit. I thought maybe Hua Hin, do you have any other suggestions?

If you like island,I recommend Koh Chang,Koh Mak,Koh Kood at Trat Province and Koh Samet at Rayong Province that not far from Bangkok…you can search google for information.

The only downside to the islands I just visited was that getting good local food was harder because so many tourists want western food. Do you think any of the places you suggested are better than others for still having lots of good local foods?

I only eat seafood when I go to island,I don’t like southern food also…lol, you can go to Phuket old town if you want to try original southern food.

Wow, what an amazing island. It has changed so, so much since I was there back in the late 90s. There was no infrastructure or paved roads back then...lol. I need to go back and see for myself the changes to that island. Also try some of that pork breakfast plate.

I thought you’d find it changed so much! Some infrastructure like roads are nice but I hope it doesn’t become overdeveloped

I have been traveling the world as a digital nomad for 14 years. If you look into any destination you'll find stories like this. No one knows what happened and there's plenty of information online for people to make a choice, which is why I mentioned it. I shared my experience, and we had zero issues.
