AOC isn’t a no name brand as mentioned (I personally use Alienware & Samsung) it’s one of the bigger & I guess you’d say, budget friendly brands in a lot of western nations.

I tested this monitor for a month next to the Dell s2721dgf and ended up returning this one because of extremely bad smearing. Color transitions just weren’t quick enough for darker colors; I’d be browsing Reddit and scroll down and it’d look awful

For budget setups (i.e. can't go too big, all the way to 4k, etc), it looks like the best pairing for a wide-range of applications is a 34" ultrawide 1440p VA panel (movies, story games, productivity, color-accurate stuff after color calibration, etc.) alongside a 27" 1080 or 1440p high refresh rate (nano)IPS monitor (for competitive games, having a standard 16:9 aspect ratio better viewing angles, etc.) Then you basically cover the gamut of your monitor needs! Plus, then they should be around the same height and fit well on monitor arms together!

Great review overall 👍. VA has definitely come along way from a few years back which is great to see. I think in time, like IPS, motion blur on VA will improve and see it get a better adoption rate by manufacturers. But in the mean time IPS for monitors, will be the go to technology for a looooong time to come. I remember when IPS first came out how bad they were. But for a number of years now they’ve been exceptional for colour critical work and gaming.

My monitor out of the box, displayed all the way to the edge of the bezel. For some reason (I don't know what I did), it now has a 1/8-1/4" gap at the edge to the bezel. Why is the monitor doing this?
