Very impressive. Just bought the Manfrotto Nitrotech for about $900. Amazing tripod, but man, almost $800 in savings. I would recommend this Smallrig Tripod for a lot of people starting out, though.

definitely worth a look for anyone starting out or someone setting up a home studio.

For me, I'm using the leg part only because of the Max height of the tripod, but for the head I do use my manfrotto head for better payload and balance.

Carlos, thanks for such a clear, well-presented "non-review." Your videos always inspire me to. try, as an amateur, to do better and to improve. Production values Matter (Make that a T-Shirt for your channel). Looking at some of your videos from the past two years I've decided to go back to my Canon C200, but this time shooting RAW. Finally, being set up to do that I'm astounded at how much better the skin tones and skin colors look, and how much better the finished results turn out. I've always had my complaints about Canon, but I have to admit the complaints are most all about their policies, not about their products. In actual usage they're hard to beat. Do you think I could get better results with the C300 Mk II? or Mk III? Thanks for being forthright and honest, and not going for fads that are here today and gone tomorrow. So many on youtube are about flash and trash, and you've always set the bar high; it's all about improved results. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you take the time to share all of your hard won knowledge and insight with us.

Would anyone recommend this tripod for a canon C200? I'm sure it would hold the weight, but more about stability and size. The head looks a little small, but small rig makes some quality stuff.

While it is capable of handling the weight, I switched the head to a Manfrotto Nitrotech fluid head. The sticks a.k.a. Legs are strong but do not have enough stabilization to accommodate a slider. I would say that this product is best for static shots as in locked off. Keeping it 💯

Do you know how long the legs are when collapsed once you take off the tripod head? My tripod case is only 28 inches so I’m hoping it can fit
@alanoakley3242 Жыл бұрын
That's a no go. It's just under 31 inches with the head removed. I just measured mine.

I just bought a Sony a7iii and a small rig cage. Now I need a tripod . I’m Overwhelmed and don’t know how I connect the small rig cage to a tripod . I read about plates that you attach to the cage and then that attaches to to the tripod ? Any help would be appreciated.
@alanoakley3242 Жыл бұрын
The tripod featured comes with a Manfrotto-style plate which will slide in from the back or drop in from the top and lock in place but the base of your cage may be designed with an integrated plate that does the same or, if not, 1/4" or 3/8" threaded holes to accept the Manfrotto plate's screws. Years ago you would have to screw your tripod to the base of your camera, which was slow, cumbersome and fraught with danger. These may still exist at the consumer level but at this level and above, quick release plates of some kind have become de rigueur. Plates from Arca or Manfrotto have become fairly ubiquitous so that other manufacturers of peripherals such as cages, sliders, shoulder rigs and tripods often make them compatible with one or the other. I recently bought a shoulder rig which is cleverly designed to accept either style.
