I'm trying to set up and account with starling at the moment. they're asking questions that I don't really have an answer for yet. The business has been set up in the last week so I'm still in the process of working out where I will be sourcing the initial funds from, what I expect to make in my first year. Anyone have any tip? Should I look at planning everything before even considering to open an account?

I'm currently using Mettle banking as a sole-trader, but have just registered as a limited company and need to setup a new account. Would you recommend setting up a new account with Mettle, or are some of the others you've mentioned better? Mettle have been great. The only feature I'd like that they don't offer is the option to search transactions by name, amount etc. So one that provides that but is still free would be good.

Super useful. Thank you so much. Having a separate business account makes sense. But can I have a business account in just my name? Moving into being self-employed FT I will have multiple streams of income from different sectors. I single business name will not work for e'g cakes, flowers, resin craft etc, Will just my name work to open a business account with?

To register as a sole trader with starling will giving them invoices suffice? Or will i need to provide proof of self assessment registration?

Does these banks accept or issue Letter of credit?
