I watch every video you upload and when i get done with them i’m always watching your old videos. i always get a response from you when i comment and like always i can’t express how much knowledge you’ve given me. Thank you. i’m currently doing a correction and coating on an Audi A7. Watching your video i’ve come to learn harder paints are typically easier to work on however this paint seems to of been washed with a 007 steel wool instead of a wash mitt and a bucket of sand instead of a bucket of wash solution. Nonetheless i hope to finish the first step tomorrow and get started on the second step. Thanks again Sandro. Love from the US

It was 45 yrs ago but it can still send chills down my spine to think about a black or dark blue Caprice from Canada or a Monza from K.C or a Monte Carlos from Baltimore covered with dirt, scratches even hydraulic oil rolled off the truck. Any hope in making a brand new dark color car with single stage paint actually look like a new car was H7. It had a pea green color and was very oily which is what made it work so well on dark colors but you didn't want to let it dry or it would soak in and then you were buffing it out. It washed off pretty quick too was just good enough to get the car off the lot... :/

Meguire's number 7 is not the same as it was 10 years ago. There is an oil that they used to get from the bark of a tree that is now completely farmed out, it's gone extinct. They no longer are able to put that same oil into their product so the mirror glaze number 7 is not the same product. I used to love meguire 7 because it was unmatched In how deep it would make your paint look. the stuff that they have today is garbage. Plus the price now is ridiculous. I believe that poorboy is the best value for the money and I agree it's the easiest to use. However, easy come easy go as they say. I do find that I have to apply it more frequently than perhaps other glazes or polishes. And I absolutely LOVE to follow it up 24 hkurs after applying it with Griot's ceramic 3 in 1 wax final spray. It smells amazing, it makes the paint look glass smooth and it also prevents debris from sticking. We drove across country over the summer and the bugs were caked on. I used rainex bug remover and that was a fail... but by chance I sprayed the griot's 3 in 1 on and the bugs came right off WITH NO EFFORT OTHER THAN SPRAYING AND QUICKLY WIPING!!!. It is also an amazing "in-between waxings" product to use. It makes the car shine like crazy even though it only takes about ten minutes to wipe down the whole car. One of my favorite go to products. Great job as usual Sandro!

I am not sure of the others but the Mequairs is designed for panels without clear coat (only single stage paint). With a clear coat it never really gets absorbed. Some like the "new car glaze": Both are non-abrasive or pure polishes. M05 dries fast and dries powdery white and was/is intended for high humidity production environments, mostly body shops, dealerships and detailers. It came out in the 1950's so the name was originally used as it implied for use on new cars in the 1950's which would have been acrylic lacquer paints. M07 is a very wet product and doesn't really dry, so it's the opposite of M05. It contains the richest concentration of polishing oils out of any paint related polish from Meguiar's.
@mackyocum5218
@mackyocum5218 11 ай бұрын
Cars of the 1950s didn’t all use lacquer, only GM did, Ford always used enamel paint because it was more durable in the long run. GM used lacquer because it polished shinier for the showroom but had long term durability problems because the film was harder than enamel and much more prone to chipping.The chipping problem was really shown by the amount of surface rust that developed around the chrome windshield and other glass moldings on GM cars when the vibration of driving chipped the paint off under the molding and then rust would migrate out under the paint around the molding.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing I’ve used their products, and they’re solid. They’re out of New Jersey. Their sleeper product is a cutting compound called LVR321 Knockout. Cuts through severely neglected paint like nothing I’ve used before, and somehow sets you up for a fine polish when it begins to close its cycle. Isn’t oily and dust-free like 3D One, but it easily cuts at the 1k-grit level. But yeah, Topper is a high-shine product that many swear-by. They also have a black wax similar to what Poorboys offer.

The thing with the CG Black Light is… it is a sealant and glaze. It also contains mild abrasives so cannot be applied onto a sealant because it will abrade it. So it is part of a system such as layering over it with CG Jet seal. Whereas Poorboy’s I find is a true glaze that can be applied over a sealant. I have both but shame the poorboy’s does not last all too long. All of them have their drawbacks. I tend to chop and change between black light and black hole show glaze.

Awesome video bro! What would you put over that Black Hole to give it durability? I'm not really sure if anything really bonds over the top of a glaze....most glazed are full of oils. Do you have any thoughts on what will work good over them to lock in those oils and add good durability? I'm fixing to do a red single stage paint and want to put something on it (besides a ceramic coating) to keep it from oxidizing that'll last at least 6m or longer.

Thanks, and as you mentioned I don’t think long term protection when laying over a glaze is the easiest thing to accomplish - but you can still make it last longer with something like a paint sealant on top, maybe a liquid sealant like Jescar Ultra Lock+ or Meguairs Ceramic Liquid Wax could be good options.

A glaze is generally used after polishing and can also be topped with a wax or sealant - a glazed is used to enhance the look of paint prior further. A glazed shouldn’t be used prior to a ceramic coating and wouldn’t really be considered a substitute for one.

I think the issue answering that question is the more subjective appeal or look of car waxes that seems to be a more personal thing rather than necessarily objective or the way I tend to judge them. Glazes seem to have that more pronounced wet dark and glassy look, whereas many at least traditional waxes don’t so much. It could be the reason way a decade or two ago lots of car enthusiasts loved starting with a glaze and topping it with a wax to have the best of both worlds.

Next test: Durability of top coat with and without application of glaze. Yes, glaze makes life easier, but does it effect long term durability of top is the question?

Why not use a wax ? Is a glaze more shiny ?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

I think a lot of car detailing enthusiasts liked the combination of using a glaze that is or at least was shinier, wetter looking topped with a wax that tended to create a little more depth to the paints finish.

Glazes aren’t nearly as popular as they where a decade or two ago, so unless your as old as me or older it’s ok not to be familiar with them 🙂

can i add ceramic coating on top of glazes?
@snail415
@snail415 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t. If anything maybe the opposite order. Coatings are intended to bond to a permanent surface like clear coat; a glaze won’t last a month, and the coating will depart along with it. At least in theory.

thats true, im guessing one would polish the car, add waxes and finally glazes.

Lay down the glaze, then go over it with a Poorboys wax. You will be happy

Because true glazes really just focus on looking amazing and not other things like being hydrophobic and durable, they do tend to look pretty amazing. Ultimately your use a glaze followed by your favourite wax or sealant to try and maintain its look.
