The Best Car Paint Touch Up Tools Tips and Tricks can be done with several applicators such as a tooth pick, paint touch up pen, Lowel Cornel paint pen, Paasche Flow Pencil, iwata studio series airbrush, but the least expensive and most precise application can be done with a needle and syringe. This paint touch up tool can fix rock chips and even paint disaster clean ups on some of the dirtiest cars ever. Best to do this technique after a carwash and possible clay on the clear coat if needed. This is the best paint touch up technique I've used in my auto detailing career so far Hope you enjoy this AMMO NYC Episode!

I've been watching your videos for awhile now. Everytime it does not disappoint. The wealth of information you share to the community and the best part of it all is you do not hide your growth. You bring back some of the techniques that were used before and show a new learned and better method. It's very rare to see someone documenting themselves and showing that part of themselves. Not do only these videos give me reference, but it also improves the way I think about detailing my own or others cars. All I can I say is thank you.

Started using needles for very precise touch ups and stone chips 20 years ago. Depending on what flow rate you want you will find it less problematic if you thin the paint more than normal before filling syringe. Thicker paints and if you set your syringe down for a bit and then come back you will find the paint has dried in the needle neck. Do not apply more pressure to force the dried paint out. If it does dislodge you will shoot a stream of paint under high pressure at whatever your were aiming at. Best to just put a new needle on. If you do set the syringe down and its going to be for longer than a minute or two, you need to pull gently back on the plunger to pull the paint out of the needle and back into the syringe saving yourself from using another needle. Another way to open the needle up and start paint flowing is to take a lighter and apply the flame to the needle barrel aiming the end away from you as once the dried paint reaches a hot enough temp it will shoot the blockage right out the tip. I would use another needle head as first choice. You have to play with the needle but you can get it to flow out at a controlled speed so that no pressure needs to be applied to the syringe plunger, this is desirable when filling many rock chips, you do have to keep up which isn't that hard if all your chips are prepped and ready for filling. Sometimes the chip may require a second application but usually once fills it precisely.

Great job! Judging from the video, you can get ALL of that dent/collision damage done by a skilled dent guy, and I'd recommend doing it before the touch-up. Most of it is PDR-able, with only a little push/pull to paint. No bondo, filler, nothing. All you need to do now is touch it up where necessary.

Mix the clear and paint together instead of trying to add the clear later. It blends nice and looks better. You can wet sand lightly and buff and virtually make the chips disappear by doing this. Don't overfill or underfill the chips this is the key. Takes some practice but be patient doing it. Toothpicks have always worked for me or a very small craft paint brush.

I don't understand his way of fixing chips and scratches in the paint with his method. When you fill the chip with paint you should let it cure for a day or so and then sand and/or compound it to level it out with the surrounding paint and then Clear coat, cure, level and buff.
@07slowbalt
@07slowbalt Жыл бұрын
@@bodeine454 10 ways to skin a cat. Obviously there are good, better, and best ways to fix a chip. These paint/clear bottles will never be the perfect fix as its not a 2k clear. The paint can be a shade off if your cars been beating out in the sun for years etc. Nobody is doing a full respray and blend job on a rock chip. Very few will ever wet sand and buff after a fix. Mixing the clear and paint and applying it level looks decent enough for the average joe.

Working with base colours compared to silver or metallic paint is very different. The paint you applied on the Porsche you shown was perfect thickness and went on fine, but compare that to the thin, runnt and half transparent metallic paint on the Subaru and you can see a difference. The metallic paint runs more, giving a finish closer to what you could apply with the pre existing brush compared to anything smoother. I reccomend an airbrush to apply your metallic paints with, and doing multiple thin coats. That way, there's no hrd line between the original coat of paint and the touch up as the larger, feathered finish of the airbrush would help the transition, furthermore, the thin layers would stop paint running and build up. So, needles for anything but metallics, and airbrish for anything metallics.

boosted16 they probably thought you were a 1% er. I have 1976 highly modded supercharged corvette stingray owned and modded for 40 years .Once took my vette and my girl friend to her company summer picnic at the Niagara escarpment heritage farm .We parked away from every one . When we were leaving I looked the car over the front nose between the head lights was smashed and the impression of the largest running shoe including logo in the nose of the car 🤬🤬🤬.estimate the running shoe to have been 13+++ .If I had seen the asshole that did this I likely would have been killed . Any way the front fibreglass between the 2 headlights had a 8 inch crack and and the whole area was sunk in at least 1 inch. I worked as a student 9 years almost full time at a small town gm dealership in collision,paint ,touch ups ,detailing, assisting mechanics in rebuilds engine and transmission, refurbishing all the trade ins . When we got home cleaned the vandals damage,stop drilled the crack got it some #40 grit paper sanded the damaged area cut some fibreglass and applied it to the cracked area and once hardened prepped and applied dyna glass to blend to the rest of the area followed by some filler to finish, which was feathered to meet the Oem panel, primed sanded and painted and blended . The repair too me about 4 hours many years lated and stripped the car to bare fibreglass and smc and painted it in blue metal flake and diamond flake which took me over 6 weeks to apply ,now it attracts so much attention I only take it out of my home shop and back plus I have to wear sunglasses lololo. My point is just because we have nice cars is because we work very hard and prioritize our earnings and I purchased a house zoned commercial residential in a small town cheap 15 years ago and many of us learn to do the the work ourselves because we love it don’t be jealous . Beside cars and boats I also am a ham radio operator , and study history and current event and politics and religion ,alternate health nutrition and at 64 still work in industrial electronics/maintenance and heavy equipment at local factory.

How would you go about attacking a spot no bigger than a pencil eraser that had either a chemical or tree sap fall on it? Would a touch up pen work?

Very late to the party here. In the video, you mentioned there would be a follow-up video re: sanding. Is there a link to that video? I've got a custom bicycle that got a chip in the paint--4mm x 2mm--in shipping. The original painter sent me small touch-up bottles for the paint (House of Kolor) and a clear coat (PPG). Since the bike is new, I'm really trying to achieve a touch-up that is barely visible. As for touch-up tools, I bought some micro applicators. That seemed a better idea than the brush that comes in the paint. I had planned to wet sand the paint after two layers had been applied and then repeat as necessary. Then the plan was one final wet sand of the paint before using the brush in the cleat coat touch-up bottle to apply a thin coat of the clear. Can I wet sand after each coat of clear or after 2 coats of clear? Or do I rely on polishing after the last coat to get a nice finish? Also the House of Kolor paint is a metal flake base coat, and the color is Burple. I dig your informative videos.
