Started to do a search for a really good catfish recipe. Yours was the first to come up. Chef Buck, I've seen many of your videos and know I can trust them to be good. Love to "fry" fish in the oven or air fry them (just a souped us convection oven really). I love that it uses so much less oil for health reasons and expense of the oil and cleanup is so much easier. I do line my Ecco baking tray with foil and then with parchment paper. I like to flip them over halfway through. Will use your seasonings tonight. Love the idea of Turmeric.

it's easy peasy---takes longer to cook than fish in a skillet, but overall it's less time fooling with cooking it, since you can forget about the fish once it goes in the oven

I completely agree with all three of you and I cannot wait to try it in a few days before the fish has to be cooked since I'm having some clams tonight. It looked pretty good in principal and I appreciate the oven versus the stove,.etc

Caught a large flathead catfish yesterday and have fileted it. Gonna try your recipe tonight because I am too tired after camping and fishing overnight to stand at stove and fry. Thank you for this! The no egg is awesome as I am out!!

we've given up a lot of meaty meals for more fish and veggie dinners...overall I think we eat lighter as CG and I get older, which probably gives us more energy and cuts down on cooking times in the kitchen--even with a baked catfish dish like this that takes more than 30 minutes in the oven; once the fish goes in to the oven, I can pretty much forget about it and prepare the rest of my dinner and clean up

Happy Sunday Chef Buck and Camera Girl! I stopped deep frying years ago and also make oven fried chicken using baking powder and seasoning. So much healthier. Watching as I prepare my roasted veggies which would be a great compliment to this dish.

Happy Sunday!--yes, I agree about the fried chicken--I've even gotten to the point where I don't care for deep fried chicken even if someone else is doing the cooking and cleaning...it's just too much fried oil for my taste

I like traditional fried catfish, but it is a hassle to cook, and this oven baked fish is just as good, I think...I still get my regular fried catfish fix when I go to Cracker Barrel with my mama, the catfish dinner is her go-to order

yep...fish in a skillet definitely lingers!...one of my favorites are salmon patties I make with canned salmon, but I never would make those while we're on a house sit

it's hard to live in the south and not love fried catfish, but this faux fried works for me...I remember catching and cleaning catfish when I was a kid, but it's a just barely remember memory at this point

HI, CB and CG! Mmmmmmm, love me some catfish! And this does look just as good as the fried stuff. That moisten-dredge-and-oven-bake method works well with flattened chicken thighs too, or pork chops that aren't too thick (or so thin they dry out). Listen to me yapping on... must be hungry...

I'm not a fish eater but will definitely cook this for my fiance and my kids. My 4 year old son loves shrimp and my daughter is just now old enough to have solid food. I hate the smell of fried fish because it stays in the house for days.

OMG HELLO now I gotta get me some catfish filets and some cornmeal....and ....I'm set!!! Love to bake my fish with breading....the spices will be delicious!! GREAT RECIPE..... THANK YOU!! (I might bake at 400 degrees...always seems to work for other breaded fish)

I baked these filets at 400 F for about 35 minutes...they were about 1/3 inch thick at the thickest part

🤔, now, that's a new one for me, and I think I'm going to love it 🥰! May take a little longer to cook it, but it appears to be well worth the extra time plus there's less work. I stopped buying seafood from local food venues because the fish always had too thick of a batter. I'd always say it's like frozen Gordon's fish patties and fish sticks that we use to eat back when 🥴😁. I'm definitely going to try your recipe. Thanks for sharing it. 🤗

catfish is soooo good--unless you've got to clean them! I remember as a kid catching and cleaning catfish, which is a real pain in the but since you have to skin catfish instead of scale them, plus catfish have little stinging barbs around their head that can poke you! and they're not a very attractive fish...it's like if H. P. Lovecraft designed a fish

I think so far this is the best recipe for baked fish I've seen yet. I like that you didn't soak the fish in salt brine, use eggs or lemon juice. A little lemon sprinkled on after baking can be nice but some soak their fish in it which makes it overbearing in my opinion. For equalized crispy I'll try smaller pieces.

I agree with you on the lemon...lemon always overpowers fish for my taste, although CG would disagree with us (but I think she has just been conditioned!)
