Q1: a driver is generally pretty difficult to hit with on the fairway without a tee (rare even for the pros to do that). If you had to choose between having a driver or 3 wood, a 3 wood would serve more purposes. There are many options of 3 woods that are adjustable in loft as well. Q2: they don’t have to be. Hit with whatever you play best with. A lot of people like matching woods sets for aesthetic reasons, and or consistency in feel between each club. Q3: if you have a 4 iron instead of a hybrid (a hybrid is generally easier to hit than a 4 iron, especially out of the rough), then a 3 and 5 wood should be sufficient.

Adam McCartin, that is a crazy deal on those Callaways! A valuable lesson Tyson has learned with buying clubs, or anything for that matter is to always be looking! You never know when someone will list something just to get it off their hands.

@@GolfAscending yea that deal is as good as it gets + Im pretty sure it has to do w/ 2 things for BudgetGolf.com- 1) They need to get older merch out the door to make room for the new And 2) Deals like that keep every type player coming bck!! -I did a lot of research on them + other similar sites + it ALL checks out. They've been in business for 25 years + as a licensed distributor of Callaway + all the other big brands, they legally cant sell fake clubs or any hinky sht like that! Global Golf IMO has the best/most consistent deals w/ 20-40% of plus always a nice free promo code to always eliminate the tax.

At 5’7” you are just at the range for standard club length, so luckily buying used shouldn’t be a big issue for you. Most listings on sites like eBay should specify length in the description (but you can always ask).

Yeah, I’m sure they’d be fine for you. You can always choke down a little bit on the club. It might be nice to cut down your driver and woods an inch or so, which wouldn’t be difficult or too pricey.

Hey Willy, if you’re playing well, and don’t want to upgrade, it’s totally up to you. However, it looks like you only have 8 clubs in your bag, when you’re allowed 14. You have a lot of gaps in your distances that you can fill. On top of having more clubs, it probably would be helpful to your game to upgrade from clubs that’s are older than 15 years. If you don’t want to do it all at once, you can find replacements for one club at a time. Nothing wrong with piecing a bag together with different brands and clubs. Most people do stick to the same type of irons 5-PW though, for consistency. Also same shaft type would be helpful for consistency as well.

I just upgraded with a set of 8 irons 2004 big bertha (4-50°W) that came with a Taylormade R5 driver and TNT 3 wood with bag and trolly for $300 (cheep putter and 50 new balls 400 tees). All in mint condition! Question is: when should I upgrade to something like a Mizuno jpx 921tour ,MP33, or Titleist mb or cb. How can i know which is for me? (no fitters nearby)

Awesome!! And as far as switching to new clubs and or knowing when you’re ready, we would suggest going to a local golf shop and actually testing them out with a launch monitor, and go by whatever feels best and produces great results.

The bag in the thumbnails is a vintage Bettinardi bag that Tyson uses to store clubs in his basement. The red, white, and blue one is a Titleist bag. Tyson currently has a black Titleist bag, and Brady has a Blag Ping bag. Both super nice! We will show them off in the future when we post our next "What's in the bag" video!
