ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

There are several components to how to play golf better. One place I found that succeeds in merging these is the Gavs golf tactic (check it out on google) definately the most useful resource that I've seen. Check out the unbelievable info .

Love the bit about swinging to a target. I was getting fitted for a driver couple of days ago. I was so concerned about angle of attack, clubhead speed, swing path etc etc, that I was spraying the ball all over the place and my figures were shocking. The pro said to just swing to a target and forget everything else. Immediately my ball speed jumped by 10 mph even although my actual swing speed was less and my carry went up by 20 yards and smash factor upped from 1.26 to 1.49. Invaluable lesson. Now to apply it to my short game.

Great video and I appreciate the "fails" on the shots and telling us what went wrong, i.e. a great lesson on how to make better chip shots. When you were talking about tossing the ball underhand, I immediately went back to my days of tossing a baseball to my kids. I did not think about the mechanics of the throw, but rather the target and getting the ball there. I agree about "over thinking" the shot. and these exercises teach great muscle memory (repeatability). Most days I am practicing chip shots in the backyard with the wedges. I pick a target and focus on the "landing zone". I've found that doing so has greatly increased my accuracy, taking note when I go "fat" or "thin" and what went wrong. Thanks for a great lesson!

Great tips, Danny! One day I was waiting for the group ahead of me and was practicing chipping into the green from about the distance you had in this video. On a lark, I decided to take each swing with the goal of finishing with my arms way high. Even on such a short shot, I finished as if it were a full swing (just hitting the ball softer). Focusing on that finishing pose, I ended up swinging through the ball much better (I tend to decelerate when getting too finesse-y on a shot) and struck the ball beautifully. I ended up being a much simpler swing thought - instead of "don't decelerate into the ball" it's just "finish high" - the "swing through" and "hit the ball" parts took care of themselves :-)

"Swing towards the target, not the ball"! What a wonderful tip! So far I´ve been attacking the ball rather than the target, with mixed results, but always leaving the ball short, if I hit it correctly. I feel that by focussing on swinging towards the TARGET I will hit correctly more often, and even reach the target. Great video Danny, pitty it´s winter here and the courses are closed.

I have to say Danny, muddy bare lies are a nightmare. Some times I just use a 9i, even if a bunker is in the way. If it’s muddy chances are the green is soft so even a low shot will stop quick enough. 9i won’t dig into ground as much. And of course your right you have to be aggressive. I always aim for the top of the flag. Super video.

You couldn't possibly explain to anyone, every facet of throwing a ball and then expect them to throw a ball with any efficiency. But when it comes to hitting a golf ball, the detail of instruction is unending. Your style of teaching is so much better than the extreme detail most instructors give.

Yeah, some really good advice here. With all the instructional out there, it's easy to lose sight of the big picture in golf, and shift our focus from the target to the ball with disastrous (and self perpetuating) consequences. Infact, I personally find that a lot of the issues I have with my swing often melt away if I focus on the target and just let the ball get in the way.

Hi, yr video was shooted in Jan.! Keep up yr great work. Always pleasure to share your insights. I restarted to play golf on last summer. My present hcp is after 4 months playing woth some 15 score rounds ended up in October to 22, ( from 54) and hopefully the trend on this new season ahead continues to fall. Speed can slow down a bit, but... Surely the direction is there. Let you know how when my hcp will be under 10. Haha. Your tips are part of any success achieved.

Great video Danny. And well done for keeping the duff into the bunker in it, you have become human in my eyes 😂. Very timely with the course all muddy at the moment, to be fair I was struggling with chipping in the conditions, this is really going to help me, thanks again 👍

Fantastic Danny!.. I'm still on the fence about whether you dumped that ball in the bunker as a "the pros do it too" but your analogies, your enthusiasm and your logical and simple breakdown of how we SHOUDL be hitting the ball are brilliant. Thank you so much!

I agree with Tim Allen and salute your honesty in not editing that shot out. Love the video but I improved my chipping, pitching and all shots by just concentrating on looking a few inches ahead of the ball. I found this works 90% of the time although I agree with your method.

The right hand only drill is so good, after your previous video on it I do the drill a lot as it really helps me become aware of my sequencing and release which are the 2 biggest things that hold me back.

Would love to see a course vlog where you talk course management, and a bit about each shot you're doing. Real-world kind of stuff (not that this isn't).. and it does my heart good to see a pro who can fat it, and duff into the bunker.. you ARE human!

Think every mid handicapper has never related to you more when you left that shot in putting it in the bunker. That was a great tip about adjusting height instead of forward/back foot nonsense. Cheers Danny.

Hitting over the bunker from a scary lie is a shot that gives me all sorts of trouble. I really like the idea of skimming over the grass (or mud) and not trying to hit down on the ball for more spin as some suggest leads to problems unless you're a pro. Thanks for another great tip.

Great video as usual. A good addition to this video would be chipping out of kikuyu grass, or other thick grass, which can grab your wedge if using the leading edge vs. the bounce. Cheers!
