@@om603denis Yes, I've settled in on Lowe's Kobalt line, because you get 24 instead of 18 or 20 volts and their battery prices are the best I've seen. A few years back, they were a fraction of everyone else's. I've got some Dewalt stuff too, so I need to remind myself that aftermarket adapters are available. Do you just get yours on Amazon? Aftermarket batteries are worth looking at too. They aren't as good as OEM batteries, but considering their price, they're probably still well worth it.

The suction power was established with the water lift test and the air velocity measurement. That was just testing the supplied tool. As an owner of a Ridgid, Sears and Shop vac, the tool on the ridgid is my go to for pretty much all jobs. As you mentioned, it does offer an advantage.

I wonder what the performance would be if the Ridgid 3 gal cordless vacuum would be installed with a HEPA filter - if the performance would come down a bit due to additional resistance from a HEPA filter. It has always been the best when it comes to Price to performance to quality and flat form. Thank you Vacuum Wars!

The Milwaukee comes with a crevice tool, which is a more fair comparison to the ridgid's narrow tool. The other option would be to do the testing without an attachment and just use the 1.5" opening or whatever. Also, if the Ridgid had a HEPA filter it might not do as hot as it did. I know there was a lot of variables, but the devil is in the details. The only other detail I would mention would be something like "real world application" which would include the vacuum design. The Ridgid, with the awkward handle, is tough to store anywhere, especially on a work truck, whereas the box design of the Milwaukee makes it ideal to store on a shelf or can easily be stacked upon. Along the same lines of real world application would be the battery versatility - Ryobi probably takes the points for the number of other tools the battery can be cross used in, followed by Milwaukee. I think all and all they are similar and that's fine, but when you get down to brass tacks, did Ridgid really win?

Based on this review I found out I could put some adapters on the Ridgid (large one) and use my DeWalt batteries with it. Best cordless vac by far. I am getting rid of my M18 now. The hose diameter being larger is a real game changer and not having to hunt for a plug and dual batteries makes it 5x better. I've used DeWalt, harbor freight, shopvac, Milwaukee, etc. and all of them have too little suction or are corded. This one is the perfect general duty job site debris/dust sucker. I still have my big corded DeWalt for when I have to excavate a hole, but the Ridgid will stay in my trailer.

I like that you did the tests with the included heads, but I really think it would have been more informative to do the tests using a "universal"/store bought head. Accessories such as hoses and heads/tips can easily be replaced/upgraded for a relatively low price. Other than that, I would have loved to seen information on how well the filters worked... How often they clogged, how easily they were to replace/clean, price points, etc etc. Thank you for the video and the info you provided though!

Manufacturer's CFM ratings for their own vacs shouldn't be taken too seriously, I'm afraid. I tested the Hoover variant of the larger Ryobi vac - they claimed 65 CFM, but I was able to achieve well over 100 CFM. So the small Ryobi getting 60 instead of the 45 claimed sounds about right.

Nice vid as always! only had a couple of points on this one tho, the rigid had a far smaller nozzle which gave it a massive advantage in terms of suction, say you had 3 lines of holes, yes you could completely clear a line of holes in one pass but you would need to do so 3 times. Also what does their lifetime warranty actually include compared to 3/5 years? Just thought I'd mention it as your videos always seem so fair but this seemed ever so slightly in favour of rigid. (also with the nozzles pinging sand it seemed as though you were pushing harder and more towards front of nozzle rather than back edge, though this could have been bad ergonomics encourageing the used to use it in this way)

Might be worth mentioning the possible loss of power as the battery discharges, but Dyson typically have a regulator, to keep the power constant - yes? For the models that don't have a regulator, perhaps the run time should be measured to the point at which suction drops below an "acceptable" threshold?

Like I notice the shop vac will pick up the heavy stuff and ashes, but won't pick up fine lent or hair like the dyson. So I tried the NXT cordless by Rigid. Context: I'm Canadian and my vacuum needs are to handle three large hairy dogs so I have to use a shopvac to meet the demand (normal pet vacuums have died on me). Short version: extremely prohibitive and not economical if you don't own the Rigid 18v platform. Long story: It's an excellent vacuum in terms of performance and ease of use. For the price of the unit alone the value is amazing. The large size and light weight are an additional plus. Just like VW's review it's excellent on suction. The cons can be summarized as: it's too darn expensive to own this platform if you're outside of the US (or least I assume). In canada you're narrowed down to only getting it from Home Depot. Cost of the 9.0Ah batteries are astronomical depending on region, ballparking $200 per unit. Charger is $100. So I tried this with two 3.0Ah and I got a practical run time of 15 minutes... Which scales to what VW was getting with two 9.0Ah. So $160 for the unit + $80 on clearance for x2 batteries + $99 for charger is a little much for 15 minutes. If you already have the Rigid battery platform by all means it's excellent. If you aren't willing to commit then really assess your needs.

Is it really one pass if you had to do it again because the nozzle was narrower than the rest?

Is the rigid louder with the 2 batteries composted to one?
@VacuumWars
@VacuumWars 5 жыл бұрын
I didnt test it specifically but it wasnt noticeably louder. Though I'm sure it must be a decibel or 3 higher based on the power numbers.

How did you get 86 CFM with the RIGID? The RIGID website only has it rated to 60 CFM

You have a mistake on your graphic, you show the big rigid having 102 minutes of runtime when you verbally say 62 minutes. Which is correct?

I'm glad you bothered to be consistent by tetsting them all with the same battery. Have you considered also being relevant, testing them all with a *normal* battery? Unless there's some brand I missed *none* of these come with a 9 Ah power source, so users won't have the same experience. Unless they get the vac and a jumbo battery too.

I am curious if I used my Milwaukee M18 12 volt high output battery on the Milwaukee vacuum if it would easily get first place?

That pack has the bigger cells, so it get a slight performance boost and extended runtime But you could also run two DeWalt to milwaukee adapters and just run two m18 12 ahs on the DeWalt nxt

Great test! The Ridgid with two batteries runs for 62 minutes, not 102 minutes as your image depicts (you say an hour and two minutes, but show 102 minutes). :) That Ridgid 9 gal is on my list for sure! I already have the small Ridgid X4 and it's awesome for automotive cleanup.

@superspeeder which battery did you buy?
@superspeeder
@superspeeder 4 жыл бұрын
@@jermaine617 , I had 2.0 and 4.0 batteries before, but I now have a pair of 9.0 as well. The main reason is to power this vacuum, which I have yet to buy but will soon. The 9.0 will be awesome for vacuums which draw a TON of power, leaving my smaller batteries for smaller less powerful tools and lights.

But wait with the large ones you did the test with the rigid having both batteries in. Why didn't you do it with one battery in since the ryobi only holds one battery?

I just started a Detail business. I need a great cordless vacuum. I think the Rigid. Is the one. For less than $70.00. Keeps my overhead down. The small attachment head is going to work for me in tight places in cars and vans. Has anyone out there used the Rigid for Detailing cars? If so respond please. Shawn

Do you already have a surplus of 18/20v batteries? Of so you can use them via adapters? If not and starting fresh.idnstill go with 2 adapters and go with something that offers 12ah...Milwaukee is better than DeWalt die to bigger cells Best battery pack out their is Bosch core ..but sadly I can't find their 12ah without purchasing from a UK site
