50 yrs ago, light tackle in row boat with dad, getting late, heading back to shore, stopped near weeds for finale, hit felt like a turtle, went straight down and wouldn't budge, finally started moving, brought up to surface three times before netted into boat, 28" bowfin 8#, never forget. Thanks Mark.

I haven't had choupique since before the Katrina when I was a little kid,my grandpa couldn't find it anymore when he would go fishing. Wayyy better than catfish to me .

I've seen them in 6" of water. I usually catch them while bass fishing. They will follow a lure all the way to the boat sometimes.

I really like catching Bowfin.. They are great fighters for a short while and just cool fish in general. Catch quiet a few down here.

Yeah, the flavor is good, mild no fishy taste, but the texture is a little strange .

I've eaten them baked, it came out tasting not so fishy, but it was a very strong flavor, they would be better fried I bet. I want to make some choupique patties next time I get a few.

Soak em in seasoned vinegar. Stops meat from getting mushy and good taste when you fry them

@@lonnietoot1915 true. Catfish are scavengers also. Wonder if he eats crabs? Crabs scavenge also. Just because the Scavenge doesn’t mean they don’t taste good

Chickens are the pigs of the bird world, they will literally eat anything. Big, small, toxic, edible, animal protein or plant matter, they are not picky when they are hungry.

People have been eating them forever, but they smell like rotting garbage so I guess if your really hungry.
