lol *years* ago (middle school - I'm 37 now) my drama class was going to learn about using costume makeup - making fake scars and just a fun day. (I rode the bus and the bus stop was a quarter mile walk from where I lived. Usually I just waited either alone or with one or two others. Every once in awhile if it was super cold (to us) or very very rainy then my mom would drive me to the bus stop and wait with me for the bus [I don't know why she didn't just take me... that was her choice]) Apparently that morning it was raining super super hard to the point my mom just didn't want to do it that morning. And she let me stay home the entire day. I was glad to stay home but I missed the *ENTIRE* lesson on the face and costume makeup

i mean im in high school and instead of permission slips, we have non-permission slips. like if you DONT want to go, sign it and give it to the office. it was an easy way for my engineering teacher to get us to go on tons of field trips this year. little side story, i have a 3d printer and she took us to a 3d printing expo thing (we have to know how to use a 3d printer anyway, its engineering class lol) and i was telling one of the booths that i printed my phone case and he gave me a whole 50$ roll of plastic for my printer. so i liked those field trips lmao

For anyone wondering about permission slips, some schools (like mine) have the parents sign a form at the beginning of the year allowing their kids to go on field trips whenever within for example 10 miles of the school.

I’m crying for my past safe. Field trips meant a lot to me as a kid. Im from a poor area so to be able to see something different really shaped my mind. And not to mention the memories you get to make with your friends.

For a countdown to 4th grade when I was in 3rd grade we popped a balloon every day until the last day of school the last day of school surprise was our teacher we had the strictest sub ever our teacher had a baby so we got to see her and I remember I was crying I loved her so much :(

At the school where I work, we get parents to sign permission slips for trips at the beginningnof the year and it counts towards all school outings. We just send letters home informing adults that their child is going out. In this instance, an email would suffice. Just ask them to keep it secret from the children.

She has already prefaced that there were permission slips which is great. However, I don't think people understand that it's actually not illegal to take kids on a field trip if it follows a certain criteria. For example, in elementary school, we could take trips to fernbank planetarium without permission and schools don't need permission for things like visiting the highschool and whatnot. However, if it's meant to be a treat for the kids, it would likely need permission as it would likely not meet that criteria.
