I saw Scandal when I lived in Melbourne in the seventies and they were great live. They did a fantastic version of Sparks' 'This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us'. They had obvious influences such as Queen, 10cc etc which was fine with me.
I went out and bought this single and the album when it was released. They did a slower version of this song on the album, but I did not like it as much as this single (which I used for the audio of this slideshow video).
The band based in Adelaide, Australia and was fronted by singer Stuart Kerrison and keyboard player Chris Harriott. Between them they wrote much of the material, including this song.
Comments are welcome.

I saw Scandal at the Moreland Hotel in Melbourne in the seventies, I was about 15. I was in the ticket booth collecting money when a huge all in brawl started. Stuart was trying to calm everyone down to absolutely no effect. I locked the door to the booth as bodies crashed into it. Those were the days!

Thanks for sharing this - Stuart Kerrison was in my year at school (but not part of my crowd), I remember the school band playing at a dance in 4th year (as it was called back then) and the little collection of groupies that they attracted.

Tight, disciplined and good-looking musicians playing really neat songs. The recording is very well produced. With some more well written original songs like this they could have beaten Sherbet for sure...

A bit of trivia - I am pretty certain that keyboard player Chris Harriott is the same Chris Harriott who has composed the theme songs for several TV shows!

A direct copy of Queen's "Killer Queen" - but who cares? Great band! Wilson, you were so lucky to see them live!

I am guessing that this is not the same Scandal who had a female lead singer named Patty Smyth or Smythe (not to be confused with solo singer Patti Smith).. I think they were American.

A little bit of Queen, a dose of Sherbet: the version of "This Town" must have been curious. Almost sounds like the Canuck pop of the time.

"This Town..." was the number they opened with the first time I saw them. Instant convert. Their bass player "became" music journalist/writer/historian Michael George Smith... a good friend.
