That is some dedication there Heather! I hate the drying stage as I am normally tired from the 2-3hr detail prior.....but as you said - I would have loved to have seen your new neighbours faces when you washed and dried the car so many times :D Cheers G

Who knew there was more to a trying towel that there actually is. Thank you Heather for your time and dedication for this 'towel test' for comparison as choosing a suitable tool to dry your pride and joy or someone else pride and joy can be a bit of a head scratch...lol. Since watching your videos I now start with the glass to dampen the towel then move onto the paint and I must say, great tip!

Hi Heather, another in depth review of our passion. I myself use on my own cars an ultra soft medium sized microfibre and a smaller soft towel that holds 7 times it's weight in water both supplied by Mitchell & King but I also like to use the towel by Sam's Details which I mist with a QD to soften the fibers prior to drying and get it damp before touching the paint by starting on the glass. These methods work for me on my own cars.

Another great video! I currently use the 20 X 24 Liquid8R and i love it. It’s the best towel that i have ever used. I want to get the 25 X 36 version next. I just have 3 coupes and 1 sedan.

Really liking this new channel! I've got a smallish gauntlet which I use for the shuts and running around after the main dry, to mop up drips, I reallly like it. My main tool is the goldmember from the leather company or cars and donuts, twist loop. I also have one from infinity wax, it's long twist loop ome side and shorter, plusher on the other, my issue with that one is, it's too big 😅. All the best. 👍

I love my 20" x 30" hybrid weave 1000gsm towel, it works really well with my drying aid of choice (Turtle Wax Ceramic Wet Wax). I soak my towels in a microfiber detergent as soon as I finish using them, this helps to stop the product clogging up the fibers. Loving the content.

Good video. So far, all ive used is Rag company Gauntlet in 3 different sizes. I've found that using the largest towel takes a little finesse with 2 hands using one hand as an anchor point, and the other hand wiping. Then switch off anchor hands and wipe with the other. Big towels can hit the floor/ground, and that picks up dirt. Big mistake! Saturated towels do get heavy when wet, so I try to use the right size towel for the job. I do wash often with microfiber soaps to preserve the towels. I think drying towels are tools just like a polisher or soap cannon, so I try my best to take care of them. $$$$ expensive. Just wanted to share my experience with you, Heather. Thank you so much for the video and time it took to make it Heather.
@autocarehqextra24 күн бұрын
Thanks very much for watching Kim! That’s so true, larger towels can be very tricky to handle and the added weight when saturated makes it even harder. And yep they’re not cheap so it’s a very good idea to look after them!

Great video and I love how clear your explanations were! I have noticed indeed some marring when using twist loop towels on Subaru paint which in my experience is as soft as your Mazda MX5. I started using a rinseless solution as a drying aid recently and it seems better but I will try your technique with the softer towels instead. Thank you!
@autocarehqextra25 күн бұрын
Thank you! I know your pain with the Japanese paint haha. Definitely worth giving a softer towel a try and just patting it rather than dragging, pretty much impossible to mar it with that combo!

@@autocarehqextraThanks to you and I concur with all your assessment on the towels since I had similar experience with them but also have with Autofiber towels. Something I have done with drying aides after using the drying towels is wash them with All Clear and use distilled white vinegar on the softener dispenser. The distilled white vinegar will break up the protection that is on the towels

I just got the Liquid8R, didn't find it good enough to finish the car (saloon), had to get out the Monster drying towel to finish. Then the heavens opened and soaked the car again. LOL. Towel now been washed so hopefully will perform better, and like you say try sheet off some of the beads so less water to dry should help. And thanks for explaining the different constructions, will save the waffle weave for drying the glass now.

Great video and very informative. Do you have any tips on how to wash the towels after use? Are you washing them after each car or letting them dry and re use multiple times before washing? At the moment I have 4 that were donated to me as I’m fundraising for my kid but have been looking into getting a higher GSM rated one too.
