Am I missing something, the Ping 430 max has three red numbers on the board but doesn’t make the top 5? I may have missed it, just curious

I would like Simon to also test the club because his swing speed is more relatability to the average golf. If not Simon, then a golfer with driver swing speed between 85-90 MPH. Thank You.

Completely understand why you would think so, the data though is much less reliable when shots include less than perfect strikes.

Got the G430 Max because it was the only 9w I could find with a weight port. I'm surprised at how little adjustability TaylorMade has in many of their fairways.

There had to be something wrong with the Callaway Smoke Ai TD numbers. That dispersion was so much larger than any other club makes it feel very off. Also the distance drop off. Must have had some bad swings or clunkers.

your thoughts on the Cleveland Halo XL Hywood 3+ ? cheers from Canada

We've not hit that exact loft but the Hywood is a really nice concept. Cleveland tend to give quite a lightweight and lively feel which is good for a lot of club golfers too. Hope that helps.

Another question for ya did you test the PXG Black Ops Fairway wood ? I have narrowed it down to it and the Qi10 Max in a 7 wood out of those two which would be best for forgiveness and distance and height ? I look forward to your thoughts ? oh and another question : your thoughts on the Taylormade BRNR Mini Driver 13.5 degree to gap between my driver and my Hywood ? thx cheers from Canada
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 5 ай бұрын
We did, you can see the comparative test data on our website here www.todays-golfer.com/equipment/best/fairway-woods/ The Black Ops and the Qi10 Max are really strong options, you just need to check which set-up most suits you. So the Black Ops has moveable sole weight so can be set up with draw bias, there's also an adjustable hosel so you could alter the loft, lie and face angle a little to get exactly what you want. The Black Ops also has plenty of stock shaft options. The Qi10 Max is lovely so long as you want a really forgiving fairway wood, its shaft is quite lightweight and lively which more average speed players are likely to enjoy. Think about where you want to use the Mini Driver, we thought, thanks to the lower loft, that it was tough to launch from the deck, but completely appreciate some will use it more as a driver replacement from the tee. Hope that helps?

@@hisevo6797 I’ve only hit it 5 times so far, once off the tee and the others off the fairway. My only “mishit” so far was sailing it past the green due to underestimating the distance. One of the shots I hit it ~10mm toe-side but it still went straight for me.

How is it possible the Ping G430 doesn't make the Top 5 after seeing the numbers on forgiveness?
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 6 күн бұрын
You are of course welcome to come to your own conclusions from our data Steve. We've said many times before that dispersion/forgiveness numbers change between sessions so basing buying decisions purely on perceived forgiveness wouldn't be our recommendation. Our general thinking with products heading into their second year of cycle is they're a much harder sell (as brands see a huge drop-off between year 1 and 2 sales), so they need to be outstanding to warrant a top performer performance, especially so when in 2024 the competition is incredibly strong. Hope that helps explain.
@unknownKnownunknowns
@unknownKnownunknowns 5 күн бұрын
@@todaysgolfer the title should be the best new Fairway woods “released” in 2024 given your comments about the ping and year 2 of the cycle. Seems the ping still could out perform some of your choices for top performers.
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 4 күн бұрын
@@unknownKnownunknowns Understand where you are coming from. We don't get to decide product cycles, we just test what is available. Manufacturers themselves fully admit sales in year two are always a challenge. In our eyes golfers still want to know how new models compare to existing products that carry over, even if they're a lot less likely to buy them.

Why do you always have a low handicap golfer
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 18 күн бұрын
If you want an accurate comparison with repeatable data you have to have a consistent strike. We're yet to find a mid/high handicapper whose data matches up across two or more sessions, which essentially means you analyse how the golfer performs with each club, not how each club performs. Which of course are two very different things. Hope that explains.
