One of the more comprehensive reviews I've seen for any motor home. I like that you actually demonstrate daily living scenarios by putting plates, lap tops, coffee makers at places you would store and use them on. It really puts the space and size into perspective. 🤙

I've owned my PX for 2 years this coming march and have put 30K miles on the van. I have had no significant issues with the Solis . I have an overhead light that is not working in the bedroom, that Is it. The quality of the laminate and workmanship leaves something to be desired. What sold me on the Solis was the floor plan and storage. what gave me pause was the ground clearance and the fact that it had no spare tire. Both of which can be addressed aftermarket. The bathroom gets the job done and I"ve come to appreciate the convenience of having a cassette toilet. We typically camp in forest service campgrounds and state parks, so it is a backup bathroom. What I don't like is that you have to open the backdoor to fill the water tank. We love Van life and are so glad we purchased our Solis.

I adore this! I am 5'3...I feel like this van was made for me. What you have to remember about the cassette is a gallon of fluid is 8lbs so that cassette would be really heavy if it was bigger.

Dude, a great review. I love the objective tests using real world stuff. I just subscribed. My son and I are renting one of these in the keys this winter. Going to start trying to rent some class Bs with an eye towards perhaps getting one once I retire. Currently have a gladiator with a rooftop tent which I love, but the wife won’t go near. Lol would still keep it for wheeling and my solo adventures, but a class B would work great for the wife and me roadtripping.

To each his own!!! Class B's like this can be treated like daily drivers and easy to park! However, they are very small and confined spaces. Class C's have more room but more difficult to drive and ya kinda need a tow vehicle unless you wanna break camp when you go somewhere. Class A's are the most comfortable and home like, however difficult to drive and find a place to park.

Movie night? Posh Toshiba. Either enjoy each others company, take a walk, watch your iPad as you mentioned, or set up a TV upside under the awning in a screened in area. I reject that criteria. You also have the table that pops down from under the bed which gives humored work space.

First, thanks for your informative reviews. I’m in the market for a used camper van, and find them very helpful. And I finally got around to subscribing to your channel. I’ve never owned a camper van, but I currently have a Gulfstream BT Cruiser (considered by many to be a class B+), which I like, but I want to downsize. I also have a 22’ 1963 Streamline Duchess, which is a travel trailer with aircraft construction similar to an Airstream. Finally, I have a 27 foot, Keystone Hideout travel trailer with a bunkhouse floorplan, that I use when I’m traveling with more people. In the past, I’ve had a large class A, a small class A, and a big fifth wheel toy hauler, so other than a pop-up, a true class B is probably the only type of common RV I haven’t had to date. I have my own sort of “mental“ scoresheet (actually, more like a set of minimum requirements) for RV's, which based on my experience has served me well. I’m a single lady who normally travels with a large dog, so as far as a camper van goes, I only need comfortable sleeping space for one. A couple of absolute requirements that I personally have are: a sleeping space which doesn’t need to be made up every day, an open feel to the great room, a functional bathroom, functional fresh, black, and gray water capacities, either a generator or lithium system, a minimum two burner cooktop, a microwave, and a two door refrigerator, because I like to carry a lot of food with me, and want ample space for frozen goods. That last requirement is a dealbreaker for me for any RV which only has the college dorm style fridge. Based on those criteria, I’m searching for a late model, low mileage Travato G or GL. The K is out of the question due to the fridge, and I don’t want 2022 or newer because I don’t like the floor plan. I would really prefer the GL, but I’m not sure that I can afford it (I’m trying to stay in the $100K range, and most low mileage GL's seem to be going for around $130K). I wonder if you have suggestions for any other class B's that perhaps I should look at it, based on my criteria? Again, thanks for any advice, and I’m enjoying going back and looking at all your videos. I might try to join in for a Wednesday night session sometime.

You could easily solve your refrigerator space issue with an extra 12v Dometic chest refrigerator. Something like that would open up your options significantly.
@labloverdc
@labloverdc Жыл бұрын
@@joelv4495 that’s a good suggestion, and if I can’t find an RV already configured like I want, I might consider it. Having said that, it’s a pretty big clunky thing which would take up a fair amount of space, so if I could get it built in already I think that would be my preference. But thanks, it’s nice to have options.

My top 2 Choices are the RoadTrek Play and the Winnebago Solis 59px. I’m now leaning strongly towards the Solis 59px. It, however has 4 huge negatives. 1. That silly cassette toilet, which cannot be corrected. 2. No microwave. I can get a small microwave at Anywhere, no big deal. 3. No TV. Like you said, just use your devise. 4. The biggest issue is no exhaust or fantastic fan for the cooking or the bathroom. Not to mention cooling the van. Maybe somebody has got some Ideas to solve these issues.

Its my understanding that the height of the generator was resolved with repositioning the unit with the axle so it moves up and down with the terrain. If that's true it must really take a beating to be constantly shaking up and down.

This floor plan would be so much better if they had put in a queen bed instead of a king bed. The extra room could then be used in the bathroom, (who knows maybe it could have blown everyone's mind with a one-of-a-kind dry bath.) Also, the kitchen could then have a full-size fridge. Finally, I would pay extra for the volta package.

FWIW... At 55" wide, that is a Full size bed, not a king or even a queen. Any smaller than that and it would be very tight for two adults. Scott's Travolta has a 48" Murphy bed and I think that's just too small for two adults.

Fyi the table comes off and stores behind the second row seat. I did replace the top with one that folds in half like the hymers. I also had them make a sink cover snd a slider table. All in walnut. Opens the space, adds counter space plus an outdoor table. My giant bed, second bed, and storage is why I went with a solis px over a Travato G. My bed is always down. We use the bed a lounge during the day.

I also added 8 100 amp hours of lithium batteries plus a 3000 watt victron inverter charger. Gives me around 10,000 watt hours of lithium for much less than a G to GX so can be done. I know it's not as long and doesn't have AC or a generator but would I be missing much otherwise? I was thinking I could buy a small, portable AC unit and a generator if I need it. I've been seeing 59P's with 25k miles go between $80k-90k. It would mainly be me, 5'7", and maybe one more. Should I wait a bit more as prices may decrease or jump on one that's ~$80k? Thanks!!
