I tested 5 fuel injector cleaner/pour-in fuel injector cleaners and here are the results. After soaking some carboned up spark plugs into the fuel injector cleaners, I have gathered the results which I will show you in this video. So, check out the winner!
I used and tested Lucus, Seafoam, Berryman B-12 Chemtool, Techron fuel injector cleaner, and STP Super concentrated. I was surprised by the winner, and you may be too.

I think you're missing the point. These are "fuel injector" cleaners. We need that test. Your test didn't cover fuel injectors.

STP and Seafoam seams the best in removing best. Think about how the Seafoam has broken it down better , as it's why it looks fogger than the others. That means it will clean better than the others .

Thank you for bringing awareness of the fact that everyone should pay attention to cleaning your fuel injectors! Using Shell or Chevron gas once in awhile or any of these cleaners is a step in the right direction. I've had some experience with all of these, except Sea Foam. These are mostly solvents. They work to clear out injectors when under pressure, but won't make burnt-on carbon magically fall off the spark plug threads without some brushing, the strength of the solvent determining how much brushing you need. (If you clean dirty guns regularly, you know what I mean.) I use Lucas in every tank. I've seen tests where Lucas was pumped through a dirty injector UNDER PRESSURE, and it does clear it out, but it's more of a lubricant. Spill some on your hands or on the floor, and you'll have a helluva time cleaning it off, whereas the others will evaporate. (I left a bottle in my car once, and ANTS got into it, so I assume it's oily and tasty too.) I haven't used STP since it caused my 88 IROC to stall (probably dissolved TOO MUCH carbon or varnish all at once). I use Techron only when I can't get Lucas, but I fill up at Chevron whenever possible. I add a bottle of B-12 about every 4000 miles, but only if I'm about to go through an entire tank of gas at high RPM (a long cross-country drive). I've heard the stuff's strong enough to mess with seals, etc. if it's left in too long. My 2005 Mustang GT is up to 215,000 miles so far. Because of some medical issues, I had to go 150,000 miles without a spark plug change. I expected problems, but when I finally got around to it, they all came out without a problem,were clean as a whistle, and all the gaps were well within specs. Just my personal experience.

Good presentation and practical. Since I generally have codes that indicate where the problems could be, I have yet to have any pour-in cleaner totally fix the problem. That being said, and always more expensive to replace parts, I am getting ready to start using the Rislone fuel system cleaners and hope for the best. Thanks!!

I have 2006 Mercedes E350 and it was tremble for almost 2 months when I stop in traffic light, then I put STP ultra 5 in 1 whole bottle. Wow, It really did very good job, no more tremble and powerful. Thank you for this test video showing the result.

This is a very good test because the injectors are just sitting and spraying gas so it is good to know the cleaning is going through the injection system giving a good cleaning I use Berryman B12 but I will use stp super concentrated

I use Sea Foam to keep my injectors clean. Using a bore scope the tops of the pistons look good as does the combustion chambers.

Great video showing how well the injector cleaners clean. Great simulation. I use STP ULTRA 5 in 1 fuel system cleaner (way better than Amsoil upper cylinder lubricant). STP helps keep my cars running tight, tighter than a 7 yr olds tuna

Try Royal Purple Max EFI Cleaner. I swear by it. A friend of mine who was a petroleum engineer for Chevron uses it, too. Not Techron. Try periodically cleaning your throttle body. You will notice a difference in your fuel economy.

I tried Royal purple max EFI cleaner and did NOTHING at all, but take my money cause is too damn Expensive. I don't know what you like or want, but I will tell you what I do every other week. My car is Hyundai Elantra 2008 2.0L automatic with 161K miles gasoline engine. I started putting 5 oz or the little bottle of Lucas Upper cylinder and top injection cleaner, next week at half tank put gas, then next week or 262 miles add 3 oz to the tank and fill with gas again. I've been doing that since I bought my Elantra brand new. Nothing bad happened to my Engine, my car is running fine and good, making 39.2 to 39.5 MPG on the freeway or highway or expressway, wherever you call it. I have never replaced the fuel filter or fuel pump, that is inside the gas tank. I have never replaced an Injector, never done an injector cleaning, just add the Lucas in my tank. I bought a little bottle and then the Gallon, so I just add 3 oz and put it in the gas tank. from that moment I bought the Gallon, you have more for less. ---- Any questions? I'll be here to answer. I also did that to my Kia soul 2012 2.0L Gasoline engine automatic with Injectors, not GDI, thank GOD. Regular gasoline 87

Some of the cleaners require agitation to work. For instance, in the 70's we used a very caustic chemical to clean carburetors. You could actually feel the heat coming off of the chemical if the layer of sealing water on top evaporated. It would actually eat up a carb if left in over night and would remove the lead based carbon on piston tops in an hour or less. Leaded carbon deposit thickness could literally be measured with a scale ruler. Unless you did internal engine work in the early 80's and back or did aircraft piston engine work you probably haven't seen really heavy hard carbon build up. This is why engine tear down isn't a thing anymore for decarburization. The carbon we get today is relatively soft and thin. What we use in our shop today is a product sold by Evinrude/Johnson marine called Engine Tuner. Mercury marine makes what they call Power Tune but I'm not sure how different it is. It is meant to be sprayed in the intake of a running engine for carbon removal or put in the fuel for system cleaning. We use it in our carb washing machine but it only works if agitated with the agitator. It doesn't have to be a fast agitation either but it does have to agitate or it doesn't work. I don't know if it is O2 sensor or Cat safe because the marine field has only used them for a few years and I haven't seen or heard anything. The Engine Tuner looks a lot like the Lucas and this is why my explanation of agitating the cleaner.

Hear so much about seafoam and I tried it and didn’t do a damn thing to my engine that I noticed and I used stp ultra clean and already immediately felt the difference my car has stopped shaking making noises runs smoother better isn’t struggling and it’s amazing it worked this well! I’m not saying seafoam can’t work but I do think it’s overrated overall and some may work better on diff engines. My optima responded much better to ultra stp I’m amazed it feels like it’s running super clean now! I almost got Techron but I decided to try stp first and if that didn’t work then use Techron but stp has so far worked so well in the same day I’ve used it that I prly won’t need to try anything else. Seafoam wss crap to my car but stp has worked well so far

Okay, you used it and was concerned about the threads, but it is the post end that matters. Also, fuel injector cleaners are made to work under pressure for cleaning fuel injectors.

STP works wonders. I bought a 2009 Highlander that was ticking and loud. The engine checked out as good so I dumped STP gas treatment in and two tanks later the SUV is very quiet. I also use unleaded plus from time to time for extra power.

What are those strong solvents doing to the engine oil? Does it accelerate the breakdown? How does it effect the TBN?

You don’t put them in your engine oil. You put them in your gas tank. “Fuel injector cleaner”. Goes out the injector into combustion chamber then is expelled out through the exhaust. Never was meant as an oil additive. I’m guessing you don’t know how to change your oil

Try Gumout Regane, Redline SI-1, Royal Purple MaxClean and 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner. Those 4 are my go to Fuel cleaners. Great stuff no bullshit.

The ethanol in modern fuel eliminates the need for injector cleaners. They simply dont clog anymore.

Yeah it will work if you soaked the plugs directly in a cup of solution. The true test is in the injectors and if pouring a bottle into the tank will do the job.

from what I've experienced, one bottle doesn't really do the trick. I believe you need to keep adding a can at each gas tank fill up. It slowly starts to remove the carbon and clean the injectors too.

Lucas cleaner needs to be used at high temperature, and it comes mixed with Gasoline that is a really good cleaner, so the combination of both make this : --- I don't know what you like or want, but I will tell you what I do every other week. I tried several of these feul injector cleaners the one that works for me to best that got my fuel injections clean the most with the best performance was Lucas. The pour in cup test just doesn't seem like it gives a fare test for it's a fuel injection cleaner not a spark plug cleaner. If you want to clean your spark plugs to take them out and use a wire brush and put them back in .

Sir good test but i was thinking agter these run, then you swap them see if any cleaner remove extra dirt that the previous cleaner did not managed for instance you swap STP and Techrone,... so we will then we come to conclusion which is the best but for now ST|P did very good job thank you

Is the carbon burned by the engine after it goes into suspension or does it get caught by the fuel filter and can you cause the filter to get clogged by using these chemicals?

With out diluting in a tank of your testing as you only have cleaning agents and no gasoline, I say you want to repeat this test empty your gas tank and fill it with the cleaners

Keep in mind Lucas is a lubricant which allows injectors to flow freely. It’s like the difference between a degreaser/disinfectant and wax/protectant. Personally I like to clean them with Techron, and then lubricate with Lucas after.

That's good logic. I also want use lucas upper cylinder lubricant and injector cleaner in skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi diesel but my only concern is,lucas is little oily stuff,so will it be safe ?

BG 44K for gas and BG 245 for diesel fuel system cleaning and be done with this nonsense. At the end of the day use something but the best is BG Products.
