I'm currently in the market for a gpu. For me, I tend to play more solo titles, so quality and detail are a bit more important for me than maybe those who steer towards multiplayer titles. So upscaling and rt would be a little bit higher on my list compared to others. But I also don't want to skip out on raw horsepower.

I’m looking at building my first PC and can’t decide between the 4070 Ti Super and the 7900XT. While the 7900XT outperforms the Ti Super, it lacks the good DLSS and ray tracing support. Any thoughts?

It depends how much do you value DLSS and raytracing that help a lot on 4k resolotion vs 20gigs of VRAM. Otherwise the 7900xt is king on 1440p and overkill on 1080p.

Recently got sapphire nitro+ 7900GRE, switched from 2080ti, and I must say that GRE is a great card! Adrenaline software is simple to use and OC/ undervolting is very easy. Really amazed by 7900GRE and I would recommend this card with all my ❤️

i went from a 2060 in my prebuilt (10400f, 32 g ram) to a 4060 ti and i did that because it was the max i could go with the same PSU... i dont regret a thing.. i got great gains. now i'm just waiting for the next gen of intel processors with the new socket type and i'll probably be able to get rid of the cpu bottleneck .. but for now its a great upgrade and i can play any game in ultra settings at 1080 p at over 100fps

What CPU do you use when doing these benchmarks? I have a 12700k with a 7900xtx and I don't get the FPS displayed on the charts lol

It depends in so many factors, some of which are: 1) The Ram memory speed you use. 2) whether you run a stock cpu/GPU or OC settings. 3) The game settings you apply. 4) whether you use native or upscaled resolutions. 5) The driver version you got. 6) … etc. Some other small factors may cause deviations in the results. For example, using a mobo that does not handle power well may cause some limitations, and an unappropriate cooling system or a bad airflow may also cause a repetitive throttle, which may cause a continuous performance drawbacks. I’m not saying you have to change any parts of your system, but what I’m trying to say is that if you know your system well, you may be able to tweak some of its parameters to get its best out of it.

Sniped a 6750xt for $300. Paired it with a 7500f and tbh it’s perfect. Most games max out my 1440p 165hz display and the ones that don’t usually sit around 120fps

Yes & the size difference between itx & matx is that most ITX cases are smaller than Matx

M ATX and ITX is a big difference usually, and the GPU clearance in an ITX case is going to vary wildly on a case by case basis. In terms of the GRE, if you can afford the extra $150 on it vs the 7700 XT then personally I would say it is indeed worth it :)

Power efficiency and PPW is very important to me, which makes getting a 4090 or a 4080 Super and locking the global framerate to my monitor's refresh rate really tempting. I feel like you should've at least mentioned power efficiency.

If you are running a 1080p monitor then yes. I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600x and Radeon 7600 (not xt) and I can maintain max settings 100FPS+ on all games I play that allow it. Excellent value for money combination

I upgraded to a 5800x3D and a 4070ti super. At 1440p ultra settings RE2 remake gets 165 fps. Deadspace remake ultra settings at 95 fps. RE4 remake ultra settings at 120 fps. Ray tracing and dlss off on everything. Competitive games like the finals, halo infinite I lower some settings from ultra to high settings and cap my fps at 160.

For 1080p yes, although you would be just fine with the non xt variant. Large open world maps is where the extra VRAM comes in handy

I like your videos but I think you kind of missed out on this on in terms of title and info. I would be better to call it "best GPU at each pricepoint". I was expecting to see a video which card is the best of my 1440 rig, but I get the best cards at each price. Doesn't mean you can't get the right information out of it. Further: Keep up the good work. I love your positive vibe and sometimes you have some slightly other insights than other youtubers which make me think about rig choices :)

In the past, I've not been that concerned about dlss or rt. However, my next card will be accompanied by a 4k oled monitor, which makes dlss more of a priority for me now than it used to be.

@@MrAnimescrazy Depends on what kind of price they put on the 5080. If it's $1000ish and is pretty close to 4090 performance, that's probably it. If they go crazy with the pricing, I'll probably just wait a little longer to move to 4k and maybe pick up something from this gen after the new stuff drives prices down. Maybe those oled monitors will come down a bit in price as well by that time.

@@MrAnimescrazy I'm honestly not in a huge hurry to upgrade. I picked up a 3080 10gb for $430 a couple years ago after the crypto mining crash. I've got a 165hz 1440p monitor, and the 3080 does quite well in all but the most demanding of games. The only reason for me to upgrade would be to move to an oled monitor. Since I rarely play competitive shooters anymore, 4k oled seems like the logical next step to me, not to mention that sweet hdr for movies etc.

I just bought 7800x3d bundle from micro center. Got it with a sapphire pulse 7900 xt. Builds fine, but getting black screen/driver timeout failure even after a clean install of windows and amd drivers. Prob gonna return the card might switch to nvidia

@@DetectiveDuck787 7600x and 7600 has no significant difference, not worth 10-20 bucks increase. 7600 non-x are just slightly downclocked 7600x, only 1-2% difference.

When it comes to the 7900XT vs 4070ti Super @ 1440p, sure, the AMD card beats the nVidia card in rasterization, but as soon as you turn on DLSS/FSR and/or raytracing, the nVidia card comes out on top. And being that pretty much most recent games support DLSS, anything older probably isn't going to run bad enough that you'd be wishing you got the AMD card instead.

If you're looking at previous gen I'd consider the rx 6800 (non xt) since it's a fair bit cheaper, otherwise just get the 7800xt

You don't know how long you have to wait for the 5080. The 50 series will have a very low avaliability after release due to scalpers and the boom of the AI market. Also cause of this reason they could be expensive af after release due to the demand. If you want to play NOW and not in months, go for the 4080 it is a good card. Or even go for the 4090 and skip that stupid 50 series like I did. It seems that the 5080 will at most be SLIGHTLY better than the 4090 but only has 16gb vram. That means it might get outperformed in certain scenarios by the 4090

@@gwb2kyt81 Do you build a whole new PC? Because I think you need another mainboard, power supply and so on for the 4080 and it won't run currently. I don't want to lead you wrong. But If you want good performance right now and if you don't want to wait an unknown amount of time for the 50series, I would go with the 4080. From what I know, the 4080 super is just slightly better than the normal 4080. So ist doesn't really matter. If you can afford it though, I would recommend the 4090. That card has enough power that you can easily skip the 50 series cards. But a 4080 will also last until the 60 series comes in 2-3 years

It's an ok combo. It's should be paired atleast with say 4070ti as the minimum and that's what the gre is.

Had amd gpu’s and my in laws did and my coworkers. All had driver issues. Went back to nvidia, no issues. Sucks because I want amd to be good

Well I need to let you know why I had to buy an Nvidia GPU and it was because specifically stable diffusion and amd's gpus simply perform exceptionally worse and it was just not an option for me

After having AMD cards for three years. i gave up on them and went Nvidia simply for the video encoders. Nvidia encoders for twitch are a lot better compared to AMD. But AMD cards are great for raw performance and gaming. if you just want performance, yes AMD all day. But For everything else just pay the extra and go Nvidia. however, Since the 7000 series cards have AV1 encoding. might be worth it now, but time will tell.

I believe that if only Team Red would significantly improve their performance across the board, then we will see more competitive pricing in the market. But for the current generation, their only play to stay competitive against Team Green is to greatly lower price across the board, to the point that their 7800XT would compete with the 4070S. They're forced to market an "8" level card to be their mid-tier offering instead of mid-high tier, or high-tier at most. They are that far behind. Come on AMD, step up!!!

why are we using benchmarks from 2022 and not new once to justify your budget rankings? the arc a580 is faster than a 6600 at this point buddy! - the best GPU for $200ish is the a750 as its now trading blows with the 3060 and 6600xt for $60 less - the best GPU for $300ish is between the a770 and 6750xt

As a person who uses GPU for work, I'm still amazed how AMD, after SO MANY YEARS, still hasn't managed to develop a way to be used in various programs GPU based... performance is worst than Nvidia or simply does not work. I bought a 4070 ti super, but a 7900 xtx was close in price, in addition to offering better general performance and having more vram... but unfortunately the problems above make nvidia the only option.

Don’t really care about DLSS and ray tracing yet because I haven’t updated to games on PC that use either yet. I’m going to be dipping my toes into games with higher graphics card requirements soon (getting a 7900 GRE in a brand new system), but all of that is a secondary concern against how smooth the frame rates feel and money spent on NVIDIA ray tracing can be funneled to monitor upgrades instead.

People just want AMD prices to go down. So Nvidia does the same, then they'll just go ahead and get Nvidia either way. Which is why Nvidia doesn't really care about price cuts. They know consumers will always by their cards, no matter what.

for just gaming the 7900xtx is better especially if you are not going to use ray tracing (most don't) or dlss (don't really need dlss for such a high end card) but you do you. also i found a new 7900xtx for $900 a 100 dollar difference is quit a lot.

DLSS is a good feature. Ray Tracing/Path Tracing is basically pointless technology for the moment because of the massive performance hits. Love the 7900XT. It has been crushing all the games I play. That, I think, is why Nvidia still sucks up most of the market share. AMD does very well in gaming. Their RT and upscaling are slightly behind Nvidia and reviewers ALWAYS act like the cards are trash. If you game, AMD offers a very competitive or far better experience for the money. Nvidia RT is better, and most people don't use it because FPS tanks. FSR isn't the best frame gen option, but it works very well in most games. I'm not going to notice a shimmer around a butterfly in the distance while I'm stabbing the samurai in front of me. I don't lose sleep over the occasional shimmer in foliage rendered 3 miles away as I'm shooting bad guys and why is anybody trying to read the print on backpack button in a generated frame while swinging from vines in a jungle?. I am not saying Nvidia isn't the best, I'm just saying that second best is still really good... and cheaper... and with way more VRAM most of the time... with higher bandwidth bus...

honestly the 4080 super over the 7900xtx is dumb, especially since around a hundred dollar difference is still A LOT. if you don't care about ray tracing (most don't) and you don't use dlss (don't really need to for such a high end card) 7900 xtx is better, stronger raw performance, with a better price no brainer honestly. EDIT: i forgot to mention the 4080 super for content creation and productivity if that stuff is that important that you don't care about 100 dollars just get the 4080 super.

The diff is one digit anyway, according to techpowerup is a 5% difference tou won't notice that. Plus you can turn on the fancy things. Its a superior product... If you are gonna spend that much just get the better product.

9:45 I get that feeling from most comparison videos I see, it's always highest settings, DLSS, 4k gaming......like why would I ever wanna do that? I know I only use a 144Hz monitor and most people I know already switched to 240Hz, but obviously we still want at least as much FPS as our 1080p monitor can display. Why would I give a single fuck about if it gives me 60 or 70 fps on 4k??? This ain't no casual half an hour console type shit, we playing on PC, competitive online for hours

Anyone playing AAA games like Apex, Call of Duty etc. will want the AMD gpu line. I noticed a significate difference in FPS for the online games when I made the switch. But Nvidia clearly wins for any RPG games such as Cyberpunk. I am a AAA title game player, so AMD all the way. I am rocking a Hellhound 7900XT and it is amazing. It outperformed my old 4080 significantly for latency and FPS 1% lows on Apex and Warzone. Smooooooth like butta
