I would also say the Rottweiler. Wonderful family dog, and very protective and territorial.

This is situational. Yes with the right loving and nurturing of the dog it will be raised right but I personally grew up beside a few people who treated their Rottweilers horribly. They were amazing pups always looking for love but left alone all day making them extremely hyper aggressive was so sad to see. So moral of the story love your dogs because they genuinely need you too.

I'm a Pitbull Lover, but have been thinking about getting a Corso for My new Home. I met a Guy walking his Corso, and the Corso automatically started to walk leg to leg with Me, even walking on the outside of the Curb where traffic is, to Protect me. I'm a Stranger, yet, that Man's Corso protected me as long as I was in his presence 🥰

There is nothing like a mastiff bark to make you jump out of your skin. Our girl Tara, was a big baby but normally quiet so when she barked it was such a surprise but also bloody deep and loud.

My family has two mastiffs and one night someone tried to break in. They went bat shit crazy and the guy tripped down the stairs to our house. When my dad and I got outside with the dogs surrounded him and he was screaming bloody murder. Definitely some of the best guard dogs.

Bull Mastiff. Best dog I’ve ever had. We got a stray named Sampson and he was an absolute angel. My baby niece could be rubbing his ears, lose balance and grab them to slow her fall and all he’d do was lick her face and nudge her to stand back up. I miss that dog everyday since he passed.

Best family guardian we ever had was a female GSD named Megan. She wasn't trained to guard or be protective, she was just naturally very protective over her family, especially us children, and especially to girl children. She was very well behaved and was great with strangers... unless that stranger happened to be a grown man coming into the yard while us kids were playing outside. As long as he didn't touch us, she wouldn't touch him, but she'd sure as hell be all up in his face snarling viciously until he took the hint to back up. She loved her family, she loved children, and she hated men outside of the family. She was a very good girl ❤

Boxers are brilliant family dogs. My boxer when I was a kid was more human then animal but what a protective instinct! He was the gentlest soul as long as non of us were in danger. He would let people coming in to the house know he was protecting us but one sign from any of us that this person was welcome and he'd immediately switch to welcoming them. God I miss him so much 😢

Boxers are amazing! We gave a 2yo big boy to my grandparents cause they wanted a protector, only dog my grandad ever loved. They were best friends, he'd patiently sit next him with a paw on his leg when grandad ate at the table, they took theirs naps in the living room together, both snoring. He'd slowly follow him when he mowed the grass, they'd share ice cream. Just the of buds RIP Rocky & Grand-Papa I miss you both 😭

Dunno if you know the difference between working line and show line. But it's basically two different breeds. I trained SAR dogs and handlers for 13 years, bomb dogs for 2. I will always remember one of the earlier handlers I worked with telling me her working line GSD didn't let people pet her or anything else. Took me a week before that dog would trust me enough if I'd lay down in the grass she'd lay down on top of me. But yea. I think working line GSD, Malinois, etc need a certain kind of person who really understands the animals on a personal level rather than a clinical level. Something that really really used to piss me off with training handlers for SAR was when they'd bitch about how their dog wouldn't perform the same skills for them that they would for me. At the end of the day, (and I'm not saying baby or spoil the dog) your dog seems to understand I trust her judgement but that I also love her. If she works for me I will protect her sort of pack instinct. You just seem to expect work with no return and your dog understands that. 2 months later he ended up killing his dog because he left her crated in the back of his vehicle in the summer with the windows closed. Proved my point. Every other person on the premises let me know if they brought their dog and left windows open and did rounds even if I went to do them. He told nobody, didn't go during lunch (because he probably forgot) and wasn't even the first person to realize. This was before social media was a thing. But my understanding when I looked into it (because I was getting him blacklisted if my intuition was right) was that he basically got this golden and was doing low effort SAR training for bragging rights. Was getting extra vacation days from his employer because "he was providing extra emergency services to the police" and other nonsense. This was like 22 years ago but I will never forget the desire to lock him in the same cage while he was on his special vacation days from work, for his narcissism and disdain for that poor dog.

I have a 7 month old gsd, she incredibly smart and has been super easy to train and work with she loves to work, she loves my kids to and she's is my personal stocker, always seems to know right where I am. And she has become increasingly protective (not to a problematic point she's pretty obedient with me even if she doesn't want to be she still is). A dog came at us on a walk it was a nice dog but still a strange dog running at us and she instantly went into guard mode and scared it off, same with some random dog in our yard in went hauling ass with it tail tucked down the road

@@ObservationofLimits I have a WL GSD SAR K9, I can mostly agree with you. One thing about them I think is they will listen to you because they only have 1 relationship with you, and that is donas I say, vs the handler who has a very diverse relationship with their K9. That's not an excuse but just a difference. Getting their drive under control can a long time to really get them to be quickly obedient. I know I was so worried about building his default that I waited probably 6months to late. I should have started his obedience (other then learning the commands at home) around 10months and I waited until about 14months. Also that guy is/was a POS and a disgrace.

your absolutely right. The Great Pyr definitely outrank,s the Cane Corso. They are better w family, bigger, stronger, and have built in body armor. all that hair from a double coat and the extra muscle and fat. I've seen em over 200 pounds and in shape. You can find em as they have no upper weight limit. But 140 to 160 is the best fighting size imo

I have a boreabull and have owed Rottweilers and a central Asian shepherd the central Asian shepherd was by far the best of dogs I’ve owned . It does take a lot of socialization and firm leader. If you get that right, they are the most stable Dog they have incredibly good judgment, and only react to real threats. Not a mother, pushing a child in a stroller, or an unruly dog across the street.

I gotta go with a Rottweiler. Easily one of the most powerful dog breeds in terms of strength, mass & bite force but also one of the smartest and most trainable dog breeds, patient with kids yet still playful with families in the right setting. Idc what you say if I’m breaking into someone’s house the very last dog I want to see is a 130lbs male rotty running at me. Sure they don’t have the highest bite force but their bite is still strong enough to break bones and I’ll tell you those things are absolute tanks because of their stocky build. Honorable mention to the German shepherd especially if you have young children.

I have had 2 bit bull husky cross one male one female and I have never had or seen a more patient dog with small kids. Both would do nothing to anyone comen in to my house and would probably show you where everything is as well. But the male had a presence to him and everyone was scared of him and the female has the f you look huskies have but the build of a pitty both where/are great with my 4 and 1 year old

My dad had a cane corso that we named Boston and we got him from a very good breeder that was in our area but after a while of having him the dog had an incident with my brother where my brother tried pulling a leash from under the dog to take it off and Boston but him. Ever since the incident the dog was extremely aggressive around anyone but my dad and his girlfriend and we often had to hide in our rooms when they took the dog out to go outside because if we didn’t we’d get attacked (yes later we did try reconnecting with the dog but it just didn’t work)
