You have "that you can carry in a checked bag" in the video description but in the TSA link you provide, it says "must be carried in carry-on baggage only."

Fixed, thank you. Yes these batteries aren't allowed to be checked. This 12ah battery in this video I carried myself to Hawaii 2 years ago.

I've got two Bioenno batteries, their charge controller and two solar panels. All top notch gear. I don't mind paying a little extra for quality. The only non-Bioenno piece I have is the Power Mini 2.

The 4 cell to 5 cell quandry is because a fully charged, just of the charger voltage of a 4 cell LiFePo4 battery can be the same as a depleted 5 cell LiFepo4. A 5 cell battery at fully discharged can be 12.5 to 13 volts. A just off the charger voltage of a 4 cell will be close to 14.6 and it will settle down to 13.2 if left for awhile.

@@HamRadio2 You can buy the cells by themselves and build your own as many of us do. I am talking about the tester, it will test single cells up to multiple cells, that is why it has a detect mode.

The tester will work up to 57 volts.

@@HamRadio2 it really depends. Each LiFePO4 cell has a nominal voltage of 3.2v, so the most common configuration in ham usage would be 4 cells in series to bring voltage up to 12.8v nominal. Then to increase the amp hour capacity, they will connect banks of cells in parallel, and connect those banks together in multiples of 4 to achieve a 12.8v nominal voltage. A 5 cell battery can exist, but it will be 16v nominal voltage and nothing really runs at that, so you’ll never actually see them.

I will say for overseas travel technically you aren’t supposed to travel with anything over 100wh if I remember correctly. Now if they will or will not say something about it is debatable. I can say flying to Germany I had my Bioenno 12ah before i got on the plane and had it after the flight. That was also military charter to Ramstein and i had an m4 also but they did take away our pocket knives so user experience may vary.

TSA has a web page that says 100w is max, then it has another page that over 100w is allowable if the airline agrees. I shared that link in the description.

Cells equal voltage, 1 cell = 3.2 volts, 4 cells = 12.8, 8 cells = 25.6 (24 volt) so on and so on, what voltage battery do you want

Yes, do the maximum cycle test on the Bioenno......5 Years Later.....Yes guys, the Bioenno did 4000 full charge cycles. LOL. With the Bioenno, you are getting grade "A" cells. With many of the others, Grade "B" or worse. You pay your money and take your chances. I have both the Bioenno and the cheaper batteries. So far, both are great and performing 100%. Get back to me in 2028 and I'll have a better answer for you. When Lithium ion batteries are made, each cell is tested. The cells that test Grade "A" go to the quality battery factories. The ones that don't make the cut are sold at a deep discount to everyone else and put into lower priced batteries.

The "extra" batteries the unit detected is how you got the 112% output. They over-spec'd it. That is a good thing. I wish all mfgs did that. Most state 10ah (example), 12v but you only get 80-90 watt hours. I own one and I like it. Support is okay. I probably would not buy another one. They are going off reputation, meanwhile the Chinese and other mfgs have caught up to the quality and durability of the premium offerings. BattleBorn Batteries are the same. But they have lowered their prices due to the competition out there.

The TSA rules is a safety issue. high power battery can be dangerous on a aircraft. you are in a confined place. LiFePo4 is a much safer battery. they just wanted a round figure for the inspectors. their has been battery fires onboard a aircraft. Bioenno is probable Ly the safest you can bring on board. their is a bunch of cheap China battery's on you tube. catching fire ,shooting flames out etc. several recalls on scooter battery . outher types of lithium battery is dangerous. Their is some new types hitting the market now. like LTO and sodium ION. both are very safe. LTO battery's are out now. they rated 2.5V per cell and 20,000 cycle life. charger and BMS compliantly different. would like to see some testing on a well used Bioenno battery ! years old run down many times . start with new do the test . use it many many times . even get it cold. then test again like after over 500 cycles. 73's

Cheapo battery for 1/3 the price but it lasts 1/3 of the time of a Bioenno a wash? Not if you take into account the environmental waste and the hassle of replacing them three times as often. Guess I vote for Bioenno.

There are a lot that are cheaper but still use grade A cells. Such as eco-worthy, ampertime, chins. Check out DIY Solar with Will Prowse. He tears down lots of(mostly 100AH) batteries from various manufacturers. There are a lot that are cheaper than bioenno but are still top notch.

VERY few hams go through 2000 charge cycles on a battery. In the field twice a week and I'd die of old age before hitting it, and that's the "cheap" battery. I get the upgrade for regular critical ops but for POTA?...then it's just brand buying

@@MentalWhiplash IF the cheap ones actually last 2000 cycles, like they claim. IF they don't explode on you. So yes, Bioenno is brand buying and it is supporting a company that makes a quality product and stands behind it, unlike the cheap no-name brands on Amazon
