Oh my god, the military enlistment portion is spot on, MEPS, shark attack, basic. So good.
@alganhar1

Shark attack? Sorry, but I am now a Marine Ecologist by trade, I have swum the water column with many different shark species, including Great Whites, and never been attacked by one. I would agree the MEPS and Basic are good descriptions. But Shark attack? You are literally more likely to die falling down your houses stairs than to suffer injury through a shark attack. You are more likely to be struck by lightning than to suffer from a shark attack. Let that sink in. There are maybe a dozen shark attack victims per year world wide, in a bad year. Know how many people are attacked by dogs each year? Or cattle? Or sheep? Or Goats? Or Hippo's? Shark attack... pfft, they are as rare as Hens teeth.....

@@alganhar1 I understand that you are more likely to die from a falling coconut than being attacked by a shark. In a military context a "shark attack" is the 1st day of basic training when the drill sergeants go to town making you do all sorts of silly things. It is referred to as a shark attack because the drill sergeants will circle around individuals and all pounce on any individual that shows any sort of weakness like the stereotypical blood in the water situation

That constitutes some kind of training, I'm sure. So Adam should feel very familiar with the activity. Even if the exercises are a bit more... novel. The only way it could be any more familiar is if she started barking orders. "WARHORSE! I want you at attention, immediately!" Lol.

I will say as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, there's a lot of accuracy in there. The branches all differ a bit in their basic, and mine was back in 2006. In a couple years, people born after I graduated bootcamp will be going through... which is a bit weird to think about, honestly. The times change - most things were still paper back then. As we were taking body measurements, the guy recording things got fired. The petty officer looked at me and said "you look competent, you're hired, write down what I tell you." So, I ended up in the last division of our group. Fun times. As my father was a vietnam veteran, I had uncles in the Marines, cub/boyscout leaders were prior drill sergeants... I actually found it more tame than what I was expecting. Other than I was probably not put in the hot seat as much as I should have in my upbringing and am a bit of a pleaser by nature - so my response to authority tends to not be self-assertive... well, at the time.
@RoonMian

I'm familiar with the curse of "looking competent." I did my conscript training shortly before conscription was suspended in my country when only the very stupid or the terminally idealistic like me let themselves get conscripted. I was often the only functional human being around >_>
@Aim54Delta
@Aim54Delta 8 ай бұрын
@@RoonMian Military culture is more important than many give it credit for (who pay the military and command it, legally). The U.S. military tried to heavily embrace the Spartan ethos of warrior-scholars in a brotherhood of mutual support. You can't always control who you get in your ranks, but you can try to teach them to be the best human they can be, because you'll probably end up bleeding on each other at some point and relying on each other for survival. At least... it tried to be for an era... which seems to be evaporating in favor of disposable tool mindsets that will come back to haunt our politics in more ways than one. It's not that the "spartan" culture ceased to exist - it just stopped serving the political system in the military. More interestingly, the internet has made it almost international as like cultures around the world are beginning to coordinate. So, we'll see what happens.

All the parts about Lackland brought back memories of my time through there. The author must've either been through themselves, or had pretty good correspondence with someone who did. A lot of that was fairly accurate on the surface. I can still picture several of the places described as I've been through them, albeit with possibly quite some time between now and the supposed future of this story's Earth. Good stuff!

whats the point of a relationship when you genuinely never see eachother for years on end? fuck it she should just move on, hes going to be gone for at least 4 years unseen, and wouldnt be happy if she fucked anybody else, thats his problem... she should just move on... hes going to keep doing this over and over, she will never really see him.. he will be off on duty the rest of his life.. unless she really enjoys being alone.. she may as well accept that shes always going to be way down his list of priories, as would any family she may endup being given by him.. he wont be there to raise them.. he would be my best buddies father... always gone.. then mad when he found out his wife moved on to somebody who was around and did give a shit.. about her and her kids... since he was never around...i cant call them his kids...

Ok, so nobody’s gonna touch on the fact of teaching a young innocent girl, that seggs isn’t special? Like come on! If everyone is doing it with randoms, then that means you just fallow the herd, an nothing is unique or special about you. How have we come to this? Seggs is indeed special. Especially when you do so with a person who feels deeply for you, as much as you do for them. Otherwise its just meaningless contact.

Yeah, you can try to disguise and excuse your hatred of women as "preferences" as much as you like, little incel boy. You talk out of one side of your mouth about how women have the right to sexual self determination and say out of the other how they lose their value as women when they use it in a way your sort disapproves of. Your "preferences" are exactly what reveals your misogyny and nobody's fooled.
