For all of the aircraft junkies (such as myself) out there, this one's for you. High speed passes from jets, to bombers, to even WWII warbirds. Including many sub & super-sonic passes as well as passes breaking the sound barrier. Nothing screams "Nationalism" like the sound of the roar of jets or the howl from a warbird. Videos like this will make you want to fly your nation's flag sky high while you kiss your 'ole lady with beer in one hand and flipping off your enemies with the other. Enjoy.

@KZfaq TM there’s a big difference between the sound barrier and the speed of light my friend. Breaking the sound barrier was always possible. Mass cannot move at the speed of light. Which obviously means anything that is in the physical world and not massless like light then it’s impossible in every way regardless of how technologically advanced we are.

I’m a prior airframe mechanic in the Marine Corps; worked on KC-130Js. I was deployed to Morón Air Base back in 2019 and one day near the end of my deployment on my way to my shift I had a F-15 do a low flyby over my head; couldn’t have been anymore than 100 feet above me. I’ll tell you what, it’s incredible to see something like that fly over your head so fast, that you don’t even hear the sound it created until it’s already flown nearly a mile away from you.

I live on the flight path for Jets that fly in and out of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Thing is I’m in between Hurt and Renan, Virginia…at the least 2 and a half hours to the north west of the base. They still fly so close to the ground here I can see the pilots sometimes and could even see into the open cargo bay doors of two Osprey’s that flew over a couple of weeks ago!

Analogy: "Weight lifters are so lucky. I can only imagine all the weight being lifted putting a smile on their faces every time." :D - dont get me wrong, it must be awesome to be a fighter pilot. I just dont think the G force is really making anyone SMILE as they experience it. :D Its a coma-inducing, anxiety fuelling, painful and highly physically demanding "force" acting on the entire body, while solid control of the aircraft MUST be sustained during a difficult acrobatics routine... Take a look at any non-pros flying in a fighter during acrobatics. They get all kinds of "LET ME OUT!" / "... * passed out* ..." feelings while the Gs get even to half of what pro pilots have to deal with.

I love flyovers and I was a witness to one recently. I worked at a summer camp this summer near Virgilina (little border town between VA and NC) and we were told every so often F-16s and F-18s would fly over the camp on the way to their base and one day during staff training, we were having a pool party when all of a sudden 4 F-18s buzzed about 100-200 feet above us almost in afterburner speed (at least it looked like it) and when I tell you the pool shook from the shockwave of them passing over. Still got goosebumps to this day when I think about it! There were a whole lot of cheers obviously!

during 9/11 there were only two fighters jets that were active relatively in the New York area, with them comin from dc the flight would’ve taken them hours, and Bush reportedly to the planes to push it to supersonic. They made it in just 30 minutes Just imagine thousands of lives are counting on you, along with the pride of your country, and you’ve gotta hit the throttle. This is what I imagined that’d look like 1:03

Feeling the sound and energy of these in person is pretty amazing. It always makes me wonder how they don't burn up their fuel in seconds. I assume they're way more efficient than I can imagine.
@ATSaale
@ATSaale 2 жыл бұрын
jet engines like this are pretty efficient other than when they're using afterburners. Afterburners can create a lot of extra thrust, but they are extremely inefficient with fuel (something like 25% of normal engine operation). Also keep in mind, there is no payload on a fighter jet other than the fuel and the munitions. most of the empty space in the airframe not occupied by equpiment, engines or the cockpit is a fuel cell.

Cara Vaggio that video was shot by me in 2016. I was working an airshow and he was coming in a few days before and decided to buzz the airport! The video doesn’t do any justice as to how loud and low he really was! The Merlin’s on a Corsair or Mustang is most definitely the most intriguing sound in all of aviation.

Good bit of the first part was standard Navy air show material. Always fun to watch the low-speed pass showing the F/A 18 adaptability followed by the sneaky high speed pass. Watching a plane go supersonic at sea is always fun, too. That pressure wave that pushes the mist and pushes down the water surface hits you in the chest with a solid thump. That last clip they were incredibly low.
