This is becoming my favorite hybrid, nearly DAWless but not actually DAWless music production setup this year. The Maschine (plus in this case but can be a mk3) and the Komplete Kontrol S61 are a formidable combo.

Love your setup. I agree that this is one of the best setups to produce. Have you tried adding a maschine Jam? it seems that it would be a pretty nice add on for live performances.

Ciao Dylan. Ti disturbo ancora. Mi sai indicare la procedura per salvare su pc i progetti che ho salvato in “user” in standalone? Ho provato ad estrarre la sd card a M+ spenta e inserito la card nel pc. La vede ma dentro non ci sono i progetti di user in nessuna cartella. Riesci ad aiutarmi? Grazie.

Excuse my ignorance but is maschine plus and komplete kontrol connected separately to the desktop to see both units using the same gui on the screens?

Haha in this case I didn’t use them separately when walking through but when composing I do usually have them display other things

Thanks for the video! I've been loving my Maschine Mk3 for a while and was wondering if you recommend I add a S61 to the mix. I currently use a basic M-Audio MIDI keyboard alongside my Maschine, but I'm considering getting the recently marked down Mk2 Kontrol keyboard (since the Mk3 just got announced). Is there an advantage to having a Kontrol keyboard alongside Maschine versus a generic MIDI keyboard?

I think the mk2 and the plus play really nicely together! The pre mapping of the plugins and the extra scale controls and stuff compared to a different keyboard are rad for sure. If you’re okay using the Maschine for most of your navigation and just using the keyboard for playing keys it’s not necessarily the biggest upgrade though

But You can also use Maschine plus with the Kontrol S series mk2 keyboard without the computer and it still does the double display functionality ..with the mixer on the plus and your still able to browse on the kontrol keyboard right?

Yep! just put a video out a few days ago showing this, I just like the hybrid model sometimes to be able to access all my Komplete Plugins and sounds

@@DylanParisMusic oh I definitely feel that. Hybrid is the best way to go to take advantage of the native instruments content you paid for. I’m just asking because the Maschine plus is my next targeted purchase, second hand of course so I can get it at a nice discount deal 😂. I just upgraded my Mpc Live 1 and purchased an Mpc Live 2. I want to have my live 2 and maschine plus with a kontrol mk2 keyboard as my dawless alternative work flow when I don’t want to use the laptop

Maybe a question you've already addressed elsewhere but here goes: How would you record vocals or vocal samples with this particular setup? I notice you have a Zoom but assume its for the YT video audio file, not for anything else? Thanks in advance for any advice on this matter.

I record vocals separately in Ableton using an audient id14mk2 audio interface

@@DylanParisMusic Ah .... that makes sense. I've not yet made that jump. I have Logic and Reason (10-sh?) and wonder if it makes sense to get it and have a more holistic tie-in between the NI stuff and my Mac ? .....

Hey! Awesome video. I may have missed you covering it, but as I can't find an answer anywhere else, I wondered if you may know. With the Usb Type A ports on the machine +, can you plug the S61 in there and run it completely standalone like that? Ultimately achieving a standalone NI setup. If that's possible, would the screens and functionality of the keyboard still work? Thanks :D

Yep! 100 percent I have a few videos that are fully standalone with this setup and it definitely works like you’re asking. Obviously you’re limited to the sounds available in standalone but the functionality of the S61 all works

Hey Dylan I was wondering if you could clarify something for me regarding using the MASCHINE with an external MIDI keyboard. I have a studio logic sl73 keyboard and I would like to get a MASCHINE to have pretty much the same setup as you have here. Would I be missing out on some crucial features or functionality by not using a NI Komplete Kontrol controller? Or does the MASCHINE hardware cover the same features that the KK keyboard provides? Appreciate the help!

The functionality would be really similar outside of the scales modes I believe. Along with that, having both lets you have say the mixer on one and the instrument controls on another. But I've used the Plus with many other controllers and they're great too :]

Hi! Greetings from Ukraine! It is my best setup too, but only I have kk mk1, I planned to upgrade it to mk2, but after NI stopped support mk1, I don't know, how long they will be support mk2, and mk3 is looking not good to me.. no integration with maschine.. So, what do you think? Better to go with mk2 or mk3? Thank you for your advice and opinnion.

I don’t know how long they’ll support the Mk2 but I have a feeling it will last at least a few more years. There will be features on the Mk3 that won’t trickle down, but the Mk2 has its own pros and a cheaper cost. If i was looking at both right now I’d probably say a used Mk2 or wait and see what new features they add to the Mk3 and look around for a cheaper simple midi keyboard in the meantime
