There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I got my mower from Russ's Lawn Mower Repair in Martinsburg West Virginia, and they are the best family owned business to deal with. They can match prices or even do a better discount on machines! Rather deal with them than any big dollar stores that deal in all things Bad Boy machines! 10/10 recommended They also do any services or repairs right there too!

We sell these mowers at my shop (heavy duty diesel shop) and do warranty work to them, they are super stout. I have only had to replace battery’s at 2+ years old, do hydrostatic service at 50 hours(regular maintenance schedule after that every 200 hours) sharpen blades, replace spark plugs(recommend every year because plugs are cheap). After 5 years you still see this same minor service schedule other then running overhead for valve adjustment. These are built very well and are highly recommended, they’re built to work at all costs out of thick steel.

It's Sept 16, 2022. I looked at the 42" Bad Boy Rambler. Tractor cost + tax and to my home that's under 15 miles from the dealer is $4,077. I sat on it and the seat wasn't very comfortable. The mower definitely looked - by my eyes - to be well built. I like the 5 gallon gas tank as that would mow my 3/4 acre lot a few times. It has the 22hp Kohler. Changing oil & filter looked easy enough and there is no hour meter anywhere on the mower.

It's Sept 17, 2022. I purchashed the BB Rambler today. I added 1 accessory. An Assist bar to make it easy to get on and off the mower. I got the bar at their cost which was $35. They were going to charge for delivery but I was able to talk them out of that. Total cost was $3988. I've never driven a ZTR mower. It does take some getting used to. After about 30 mins I was going pretty well. My wife ran the weed eater and did more than normal as she could see I was having some trouble making the mower do what I wanted it to do and some spots I mowed with our old John Deere STX46, I was hesitant to try get those spots with this new mower till I can handle it better. The opening in our storage building is 58". The STX46 went in but I had to physically hold the chute up. The BB Ramblers chute can be lifted up and will stay in the up position till you push it down. I really like that feature. That made getting the mower in and out of the storage building easy.

Had a Toro with a Kohler 19 HP engine, was 8 years old. Worked fine until one day it would not crank. Took it to a Toro deal to get it fixed. Then found out the parts for the engine are no longer available. Everything looked good on your video but the Kohler engine is a deal breaker for me.

I don't own one but have access to a mz magnum 54" Kohler 7000 series. It's stout but why so slow for that size. My Husqvarna 42" Briggs Stratton. Smaller motor is way faster from the factory. Is there away to make go faster then an old Poland riding lawnmower that I still have running.

Thicker doesn't always means better. Depends on the hardness of the metal. A 12 gauge hard metal is same as 7 gauge soft metal.

I just bought a 42” rambler yesterday and my steering levers seem to be too far forward. I would have to lean forward to push them all the way but I also don’t want to move the seat because it is in the perfect position. Is there a way to adjust the levers? I’ve been looking but can’t find any info.

Made in USA-a big plus 👍. Pitty your video doesn't cover any Xtra available -like sun shield ; mulch plug etc. No hr meter is also a let down.

No hour meter? I know that is ticky tack but every mower I have looked at in a 42” came with a meter. The meter would cost like $20 to add and wouldn’t spike the price that much. I like everything else but that. The others have a 3yr 300 hour warranty. Just a few things I have noticed than the other 42” machines. I still like the machine just a few small differences I see.

Yes I agree, I actually didn't even notice that myself until you pointed it out. Kinda crazy, but after doing some research i found its not super uncommon with mowers this size. Thanks for the comment!

No but you can easily upgrade the seat to one with armrests.

In my opinion they are useless. When mowing your arms are extended forward and moving when turning.

I bought a Bad Boy Rambler today with 1 accessory. The Assist bar to make it easy to get on and off the mower was $35. Total cost and they delivered to my yard was $3,988.

Where is the oil cooler for the transmision, how do you change the filter. You did not say how much work it was. That usually means you completely disassemble the mower How do you disengage the wheels from the transmission so it the engine stops, how do you move it to your trailer without damaging the drive system. Oh with only two-year warranty the cost should be less than $600.00 @ $1,200 it should be 4 years, parts and labor. Did you say 200 hr warranty on an engine that is only 5 weeks.

The hydro gear ZT2200 transaxles are sealed units, you can’t change the fluid or filter they are maintenance free, the upgrade the fine ZT2200 is the ZT2800 which you can change the fluid and filter

@@cliffjohnson2273 no average lifespan of these transmissions are 1000 operating hours, these transaxles are for residential use, I wouldn’t recommend buying a zero turn with ZT2200 transmissions to do commercial work.

I see far more Kawasaki engines roll through the shop with issues then Kohlers lol

@@jeffjohnson6499 Thats probably because there are far more Kawasaki engines being used in the market now than kohler. When I worked at a rental store I saw most all brands of "small engines". Briggs were decent, very easy to rebuild. Honda GX models were the best hands down. The GC were good for short term ownership. Onan was another engine that was easy to work on but required quite a bit of attention. Kohler was terrible, we were all the time replacing valves. The kohler courage specifically was notorious for cracked blocks. I believe there was a recall on them if my memory serves correctly. I saw my fair share of kohlers, enough to determine i wouldn't want to own one. It all depends on care.
