I saw them in 1987 touring the Momentary Lapse Of Reason album and at the time i felt it was the best concert of my life and the greatest show on earth. Fast forward to 1994's Division Bell concert and they blew me away even more. Truly the most amazing show I've ever seen, just beyond perfection in every way. Pink Floyd exists on a whole different level, unbeatable.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

You'll probably find there's a huge number of people in the comments section here who grew up with this music. I'm one of these people who wear a badge that says "I might be old but I saw all the cool bands"! And it's true. Growing up in the 70s we had so many incredible bands to choose from and these bands really had an impact on many of us. I think it's great that you make some wonderful discoveries and find bands you normally wouldn't have heard of. Watching you having your mind blown by listening to Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin for the first time is like going back in time when I was your age and played their albums ten tiimes in a row to just take it in! Love your reaction.

Gdansk concert is another great performance of Comfortable Numb but without the superb light show of Pulse. That was around 2006 and David still could get a crowd to experience euphoria. I grew up with Pink Floyd and I have grown old with their music. I'm 71 and have all their records since Atom Heart Mother was released. I'm still listening. I was privileged to have seen them live when Dark Side of the Moon came out in 1973. Every single person who was there was stoned to the gills. It was the calmest and most joyful audience of any concert I'd ever attended. And all the folks like me who followed them in the 60s, 70s and 80s are devastated that we won't see them live. It's people like you who remind us of how great they were. Pink Floyd's final performance was in 2004. They were now in their 70s. Time will take us all, but their artful music will live on for your generation to enjoy. They are at the top of the Pyramid. You will never see their like again.

I saw them in concert on May 20, 1994 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA during their Division Bell Tour. All I can say is that the packed to capacity stadium didn't care about the misty rain that evening which actually enhanced the laser lights shining into the air. When they played all of the songs in their set, including Comfortably Numb which was the second to the last song, everyone was in awe of the quadraphonic sound, light show and music which was mesmerizing to say the least. The large circular screen seen in this video which was lowered served as a theater screen showing iconic Pink Floyd clips throughout the concert. As a side note, there are two identical stage and speaker set ups that Pink Floyd used. The second set is always on the move to their next venue and set up in advance of their arrival. Each stage set up had a price tag of 5 million dollars. If you ever have a chance to see David Gilmour in concert...don't pass it up. Unfortunately, Pink Floyd will never reunite.

I couldn't betray my roots though and replied "Pink Floyd" She's only thirteen so I'm biding time to introduce her. What's telling is that I don't mind waiting, because their music is timeless. I love your reactions! Reminds me very much of my first hearing of them.

Comfortably Numb was originally released around 1979 as part of The Wall album. Pink Floyd was formed in 1965 in London. 3 of the members of Pink Floyd from the 1960’s performed in the 1994 Pulse concert. The 3 would have been around 50 years old at the time of Pulse. Check out Run Like Hell and also Sorrow from Pulse. Also, Pink Floyd’s Pulse concert was not just one night. They played for 14 nights in London.

@@oldguyespo640 Comfortably Numb was never part of Dark Side of the Moon. Do you have an alternate or bootleg version of Dark Side that includes Comfortably Numb? I can’t wait to see your proof.

It's actually called the Division Bell Tour. Pulse was the live album that resulted. I was fortunate enough to see this tour in DC, almost 29 years ago to the day. Floyd is an experience. They may not change your life, but they will change your soul. Cheers....

Well said young man. They are the pinnacle of music for human kind. I said this in other comments, but Pink Floyd makes today's music sound like commercial jingles. Been listening since high school in mid 80's. Seen this concert tour in 94 when they came to New Jersey. Will take that memory to the grave

And of course what better way to highlight the man playing the greatest guitar solo ever than to rotate Mr. Screen 90 degrees and focus its 40-50 lights on David. Glad to see youngsters like you appreciate music I grew up with. Great reaction and description of what Floyd means to you now.

My Pink Floyd life changing moment was seeing The Wall live at the US Airways Arena in Phoenix in 2012. My favorite album and movie are The Wall which I have watched and listened to hundreds of times growing up and had always wanted to see the wall. It was Bucket List #1. There was no coming away from that NOT a changed person. When the Junkers Ju 87 crashed after the opening song I could feel my soul expand and I was ready to watch it go because for me, that concert was the end all, be all of my existence.

10 / 10 for the review man. At last a reviewer who lets the song play all the way through rather than stopping and starting and killing the vibe. Well done man. Oh and its also a great song, and possibly the best guitar solo of all time

I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…

I grew up, in real time, on Sabbath, Purple, Maiden etc.. and came late to Pink Floyd (circa 80's), but "oblige me" they were masterful. I will watch this performance until i know my time is up. And (hopefully) beyond!

Great reaction to a legendary song! I suggest reacting to 'Sorrow' from Pulse. I think it's even more intense than 'Comfortably Numb'. Also, to answer your question: In 1994, David Gilmour would have been 48 years old. He's 75 years old now (he's the same age as my dad). :)

I've loved PF for 50 years, and I'm delighted to see someone discovering them for the first time. Two live performances you should check out: On The Turning Away from the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert, and Echoes from David Gilmour Live in Gdansk - that is a solo DG tour, but with RIck Wright, so it's half of PF, and the finest version of Echoes I've ever heard. DG said Echoes was his favorite song to perform live, and he always felt like it was a duet between him and Rick - the interplay between them in Live in Gdansk in magical. Shine On, young friend!

Love it! The Power of Music...you're a teen, I am 68 years old...and we agree completely. And you are correct, the music I grew up with will never be matched. To understand, think of this : when the original Woodstock took place, I was 17 years old...I can never regret my age, no matter what. ( p.s. give RAMMSTEIN some air time, you won't regret it ! )
