I ordered a 3/4" craft punch from a'zon. When my box of cheerios is empty i punch about 300 cards out of it. They are thinner than the BP ones.

I like the see-thru hulls but I'm at a loss at the need to use an overshot card. The correct wad is how I keep the powder from migrating.

It’s load data from status of steel. But there is definitely powder migrating and easily seen with clear hull. I have another way to prevent without an overshot card on another video.

You can make life easier by making accurate measures for all your favorite loads with syringe tubes- even adjustable ones using the plunger and the needle end sliced off, with the tube marked with a marker(not as accurate as individual ones). BUT, ALWAYS weigh the powder!

Thanks for the video. Why is it that when you look at Hogdon's reloading data do they show not a single steel load data for anything else but Universal powder, yet you are loading Longshot? How can you tell what the pressure is at with no pertinent load data?

I got my data from ballistic products Status of Steel. There is very little data out there for steel loads

@@Duckslayer1096 Thanks, I'll have to order one. Have you come across any publications that include the Vihtavuori powders? Even their own website only has mention of a few limited 3 inch configurations.

@Duckslayer1096 Look at BP load of the week. I got one for Rio's using a LBC43 and steel powder but i lowered the powder charge to 32gn. It called for 40 gn originally. thats a 2 petal lbc 43. Its the HG load data. On this load you are using why is the charge so little? Why not be at 30gn of Longshot? Do you know what the FPS is now?

@@jasonedgar6991 Thanks will check it out. I use 21-23grains of Longshot with a TPS wad. It’s BP data. Speeds are 1211-1280ish. Are air gun bb the same as steel shot for reloading?

@@clks1165 I have read they are a little harder. Some say don’t use them and others say it’s ok. I don’t have any solid info it won’t hurt your gun. May wear out ur barrel faster. use at your own risk Is my recommendation.

I found a load that will be a great goose load. It comes from the vihtavuori 2021 load data. It uses 3" Fiocchi green hulls, fio616 primer, N105 powders start load 35.5 gr and max load 38.6 gr, B&P 44 wads, 1 1/2 oz of steel shot, paper osc with roll crimp.

I have not seen any or looked for data on vihtavuori. That is definitely a heavy load for steel. What’s the speed and pressure?

22grains of Longshot. U can load up to 23 grains of Longshot with this load. I get a better pattern with 22

Have you ever thought about duplexing this load with TSS? How would you do it?

Unfortunately TSS is a little to pricey for me. I would only do it with tested data. I am not sure if any of my manuals have TSS load data in them. I would recommend buying a manual with TSS load data so you stay in pressure specs. If I ever get my hands on TSS I would definitely do some videos on it.

@@Duckslayer1096 @williamcarter746 The general understanding so far is any load safely designed for steel can duplex TSS. SO LONG AS the total shot payload remains the same. The lower volume inside the shell decreases the pressure of the round. The major item to look at is stack height as subbing the TSS will drop the height so you may need felt or cork.

@@Duckslayer1096 There is somewhere you can send the shells off for pressure testing but am unsure the exact details. I have data from some duplex loads another gentlemen had pressure tested and it backs up removing the steel shot and replacing with TSS will lower pressure.

If you can turn unslit tps or ranger elite wads into flight control wads. You can make a deadly geese/ducks loads

You would have to test them. You may have shot not come out of the wad. Using an external/ported choke helps grab the wad.

I have two in my manual. First is in a cheddite hull 19 grains longshot CSD16 wad 1/8 felt wad with 7/8 steel. Or cheddite hull 20 grains Longshot NC16 then a CSD16 wad with 7/8 oz of steel. Good luck I don’t have a 16 gauge reloader. Both in 2 3/4inch hulls.

Wondering why not use the press instead of all the manual work. Not sharpshooting you, just wondering. I’m just getting into shot shell reloading. Picked up a used 600 Jr.

You could do it for the powder, but the is a lot of messing around changing the powder bushings. For the shot you need a different charge bar. Loading hunting rounds you don’t load that many rounds and I enjoy the process. You will soon find out it is very addictive.

@@williamcarter746 If going to use BB you will have a hard time getting it to drop thru from charge bar into the shell/wad. You could weight out your shot and find a scooper the same size and be within specs. Looking for 3” or 2 3/4 loads?

@@Duckslayer1096 2-3/4 preferably. Was going to buy a steel bar for the press. It has a lead bar in it right now. I saw you used 21gr Longshot in the duck load. I have 2 bottles of that and 2 bottles of copperhead bbs. 50 Fed GM hulls and a box each of Cheddite CX2000 and Rem 209PSTS primers. That's all I have on hand right now.

if you really want to smack ducks and geese try my load. 31.5 longshot mg42 wad mylar wrap in wad 20ga 1/8 felt in wad, 141grn tss #8, 402grn #2 bismith over shot card roll crimp or fold. 171 pellet same pellet count as 1.25oz lead#4 mod choke 30" at 40 i put average of 155 pellet on target
