I feel like Francesca was absolutely screwed by having Phillip on the season (despite that undoubtedly being the only reason she was cast). Had Phillip been cut last minute, Francesca makes it to the swap AT LEAST.

i can't personally agree with putting maddy on here because she didn't even attempt to split the vote despite having the entire tribe on her side(ish -- tho at minimum brandon was the only one who wrote her name down which is what's important here) and KNOWING brandon had the idol and there had to have been a decent shot that plan that again, she brought literally everyone else in on, would leak to brandon or he'd otherwise just get sussed out i do really admire how ballsy the play was and kind of wished we lived in the universe where it actually worked and maddy runs her tribe with an iron fist, but it was really not the smartest of plays imo

​@@uglyaniimals She couldn’t have split the vote there, they enter that tribal knowing that Jamie and Lauren aren’t voting so that leaves Maddy, Kane, Brandon and Matthew voting. Who does she split on? Matthew is the only realistic option (she was never getting votes on Lauren there and Jamie is playing SitD) so she can’t organize a vote split with him and she’s attempting to blindside Brandon. That just leaves her and Kane, you can’t vote split with only two people when there are two other votes in play. Matthew and Brandon could just put their two votes on Maddy, with Brandon remaining in the game still with the idol. Of course we know with hindsight that Matthew wasn’t voting either so they actually could’ve split the vote but they couldn’t have known that he would play SitD. The only real problem with Maddy’s move here is bringing Matthew in on the vote instead of blindsiding him too and also trying to take out someone with an idol. I heard in her post-game interviews that Matthew found out about Brandon being the target so she had to tell him which fine, but that’s when you have to pivot and flip the vote on to Matthew as the blindside has been compromised.

​@@uglyaniimals Lauren fessed up after Claire pretty much exposed her at the challenge so they all knew but they cut that from the show, probably to make the vote more suspenseful. Or at least I remember the Ratu people talking about it post-season, I could be misremembering. At least, the next episode they all talk how she got the extra vote as if they all knew about it so it definitely sounds like, even in the edit, that they knew.

Tony letting Trish get voted out, Tyson not playing his idol at the final 6, Sandra not voting for Danielle at the final 7, Nick’s fake idol scheme that got him targeted, Ben playing his idol before the votes were cast, Gabler immediately throwing Elie under the bus before consulting Owen or Sami, Ethan telling Brandon he deserved the money the least, Brian not telling Helen he was sending her home before tribal, Chris voting out John over Twila or Julie at the final 11, Yam Yam throwing out a name before the Mergatory winners got back to camp Quite a lot of options actually

Anything social Ben did in HHH post-JP elimination. In any other season, Ben was a dead man walking and had no shot to win with his bad social and strategic game. However, this is HHH we're talking about; the season that gifted Ben with 3 easy-to-find idols and a sudden fire-making final 4 twist that conveniently saved him. Ben should not be a winner, but due to lazy idol plantings and a poor twist decision from production, he became one.

Oh God she was awful though, as was her closest buddy, the guy whose name I can't even remember lol he was that forgettable....Nathan, it came to me. There was a lot of arrogance on both tribes early on, but most of them got the boot.

I really think she was kinda collateral damage for Nathan’s less than well played alliance recruitment strategy of offering to drag the weak people to the merge. If only the other options weren’t Jaden and Nathan

i didn't realize it until now but between phil, anastasia, and frankie (who is really the only one of these who at least partly did it to herself but had LOTS of potential), there are some really strong first boots in aus survivor

I’d be down for an all pre-mergers season, the first boots vs losing finalists is honestly super lopsided to me. One group played horribly and has no prior reputation meanwhile the other has been given 12 episodes of legacy and lacked the killer instinct to win the game

Nah, she gets way too overrated. She figured Russell out, but handled it horribly and wasn't very well liked by most people on the tribe.

@@Captain-Sum.Ting-Wong She handled it fine. Russell was just a lunatic that had everyone believing his lies and she didn't fall for it so he felt threatened. She had great intuition, but the others didn't know who they were dealing with when it came to Russell

I'd argue the pre-merge was more entertaining. The Diane/Clarence bean controversy, the old-young Samburu showdown, Linda going crazy, and Silas/Lindsay getting karma post-swap for how they treated the older Samburus. Even the beginning of post-merge was great; Clarence getting thrown under the bus, the Lex throwaway vote incident that almost led to Kelly singlehandedly causing the first ever huge power shift, Brandon and Frank's awkward rivalry, and Brandon's poor choice to switch at final 9 leading to his final 8 downfall. The final 7 onwards became a snooze-fest, with only the Boran tensions at final 4 being somewhat entertaining.
