Yes, pretty standard Arizona…but there are so many great trails to ride all over the state. But Sedona is way more scenic than this. My two favourite states to ride are Arizona and Utah. Thanks for watching!

Do you think I could put bear spray into the bottle holder of a mountain bike? Or would the pressurized contents shake around too much? Basically I'd like to go by myself bc I can control the speed, but think it might be safer in groups.

I use a backpack and take bear spray when I ride remote trails where I believe there is significant risk of wildlife. But I don't usually carry it when I am close to major cities. The bear spray has a nozzle with a safety catch so that it doesn't accidently open - the shaking isn't the cause but rather the accidently opening of the nozzle. Fortunately, so far, I haven't had to use the spray...but I've been in places where others have come across Grizzly bears, which you definitely want to be wary of. And just as important is your own behavior around bears, you don't want to panic, but slowly back away and not turn your back. If you are very concerned, you should look up the steps to take if you encounter bears/lions/etc. But, in addition to bear spray you also need to take lots of other "safety" items for wilderness rides. It's just like a hike on remote trails, there are about 10 things to take for emergencies.

@@ronsanderson99 So you carry the bear spray in your bottle cage or backpack?
@ronsanderson993 ай бұрын
@@Jose-sy1je Either way...if it's tight inside your bottle cage then great but if it's loose, you might lose it. I put it in my backpack, but at the ready in case I need it.

How do you get there ?
@ronsanderson993 ай бұрын
Good question…if you have Trailforks, you can see the parking lot at the Sugarloaf/Laguna Mountains trailhead. Then ask Trailforks/Google Maps for directions. Otherwise, starting from Yuma, head east on Highway 95. Turn north at Avenue 7 East/Laguna Dam Road. Drive 4 miles north. Turn east at E Country 5th Street. Drive 1 mile, crossing over the canal. Turn north across the canal and drive about 500 feet to a small dirt parking lot with the trailhead sign. Note: the area and local roads are under development and re-routing. When I was there in March I had to take a number of minor detours.

@@ronsanderson99 thank you for the info brotha , I’ve always heard of Sugarloaf but never had a clue how to even get there, I just got my MTB I’ve just been riding the trails down at the Colorado river & wetlands but I was looking for a bit more of challenge. How safe is it to ride out there alone ? Would you recommend going with a friend ? Only problem is don’t have much friends that have mountain bikes most of my friends have the big bmx bikes, thanks again for the help bro

@@youngskrilly it’s always better to ride with a friend. But I think it’s safe to ride, just be sure to take a spare tube, tool kit and enough water for the ride. With the cactus, you never know when/where you will get a flat. Enjoy!
