It’s probably 30-45 minutes drive. But it’s a very rough road…high clearance required. While I drove up, my girlfriend was a little un-nerved in driving down. But if you’ve been on other FDRs around BC, then it’s pretty typical.

I would not classify this as. Green and some of the sections ate more of a black be cause one small accidents adds up to deadly consequence . The scenery is problematic because ot pulls your eyes away from the trail
@ronsanderson992 күн бұрын
Trailforks ranks it as a green mostly because of the wide, smooth trail tread. I classify it as a blue because of the ledgy nature of the trails and that you’ve got to be careful not to enjoy the scenery while riding too much. The segments that are washed out with the landslide are probably black if you attempt to ride them but I’m thinking most riders will dismount and walk these sections. Like all trails, make sure to pay attention! And thanks for watching!

You can either do an up and back ride from here or take the shuttle up to the Tahoe Rim trail and ride it as well as the Flume trail. Best to contact them to plan your day. Hey Ron that explains a lot. I moved here 4 years ago and with a lot of funding and professional trail builders the whole thing has changed a lot. All the trail ratings were changed and signed to IMBA standards as well as government funding for adaptive mountain biking trails which are the best in the region . I did wonder how you got from there to the states again for your video two days later lol. Still love your videos and commentary. ❤

While I mostly agree with your list, I might have a bit of a bias as those where the trails I began my introduction to riding on. It is quite difficult to pick a top 10 or 100 but I would definitely include Squamish, Whistler and Silverstar on my list. Keep up the good work!
@ronsanderson9916 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I wonder what other tail you might have included in my North Van list. I am also working on a Top 10 for Squamish but need to ride a couple more trails to verify it’s all inclusive of their best trails. Squamish has so many great trails! With Whistler the challenge is how many of the downhill park trails to include because there are also so many great valley trails that very few ride anymore. One of these days I’ve got to get to Silverstar, but Revelatoke and Nelson are awesome as well! Thanks for watching!!
@solaris811816 күн бұрын
@@ronsanderson99 Other than missing Cypress, your list has a pretty good mix of trails but not all black and double black trails are equally difficult. Lady's is one of my favorite trails as well but I have always found it difficult to compare mountain to mountain/trail to trail, just by their trail rating. I look forward to your Squamish list! 🙂
@ronsanderson9916 күн бұрын
I purposely left cypress out of my North Vancouver only Top 10 because I don’t think I’ve ridden enough trails on Cypress to evaluate a list. When I create my Top 10 lists, it’s not just a feel but rather based upon ranking the flow, technical, scenic and attribute variety characteristics of each of the over 1,500 trails I’ve ridden. It’s not just a matter of how popular or how hard the trails are but the sum of these characteristics compared to other trails - but the technical element has a minor tendency to select harder than easier trails. I’ve also made Top 10 lists for my favourite US destinations in Moab, Sedona and Hurricane/St. George’s. As I sufficiently cover other trail regions I am hoping to create more Top 10 lists. Thanks for riding along!

I have a 9 and have been toying with the idea of upgrading, but I see no reason to based on this comparison - viewed on my iPhone 13 Pro. My reason for wanting to upgrade is when I ride my bike in the shadow of the trees on a sunny day, the patches of sunlight are overexposed. I thought the 12’s HDR might resolve that, but from what I’ve seen in other reviews, the HDR doesn’t do much. Anyone disagree?

What does Santiago Oaks have to do with Santa Ana? It’s in Orange bordering Villa Park, complete misinformation. 👎
@ronsanderson99Ай бұрын
Sounds like you know more about this than me. Is Villa Park a city or just a suburb of Santa Ana? On Google Maps it looks like Santa Ana is the closest city to Santiago Oaks. I’m not from the LA area so the dozens of cities within the Metro area mistifies me. The key thing is for out-of-towers who know nothing of LA, to know generally where these trails are. Regardless of this mistake, wouldn’t you say the trails are pretty great…or not? And if not, please advise of a better place to ride. Thanks for watching!

@@ronsanderson99 Villa Park is a city. Orange is a city. Santa Ana is a city. All are in Orange County, south of LA. Santiago Oaks is located in Orange city, Orange County. I know that sounds confusing, it’s like NY city in NY state. For outsiders, consider telling them to just head east from Disneyland. I kid you not, just take the street in front of Disney and it will eventually lead you there and everyone knows where Disneyland is 😂 Oaks-we just call it Oaks here-is a great mtb park with varying terrains from green to black and it’s trail is connected to other parks as well such as Irvine regional park… which isn’t located in the city of Irvine just south but still in Orange… hmmm… maybe it’s us, we just can’t name things properly. But Oaks is one gem in OC, the other is Laguna. For a proper bike park around here, there is Santa’s Village in Big Bear just 25 miles east from Oaks so you could give that a try. Regardless, keep riding, cheers.
