Thanks for this review. I definitely made the right choice with the Skull and Co grip and max carry case. I'm super happy it makes gaming very comfy in the hands. I have large hands so I put on the trigger grips immediately and boy am I very happy with it. Definitely the best one for me. I'm one of those who's had a hard time docking it but if you insert and push down your switch slowly on the dock, it'll eventually charge it up. You just have to really take your time.

Buy a Skull & Co. They aren't necessarily top of the line protection, but they're superior compared to the Satisfy or Mumba when it comes to comfort and product protection . They won't scratch the shit out of your Joy Cons or have an uncomfortable grip angle like they Satisfy (in my opinion the angle is nice on a traditional controller but not a handheld). They won't bend your Joy Con rails, Mumba bent my rails after maybe 5-6 days after CAREFULLY taking it on and off to dock, though this is irrelevant with a 3rd party docking adapter . I feel the Mumba has way too much tension on the Joy Cons. I don't know if it was from removing the case, regardless, I made an intentional effort to avoid this when removing it. Though if you play the Switch exclusively on handheld, I feel it does offer better protection for a drop if you're willing to sacrifice Joy Con wiggle after a week of owning it. Skull and Co. are versatile with grip options and the ability to dock your system while in-case (THIS ISN'T GUARANTEED, OLDER SYSTEM DOCKS ARE MORE NARROW FROM WHAT I'VE READ). I know there are some reviews of it scratching the screen when trying to dock but with a screen protector it's a nonissue. Though I do have a newer model of the Switch, I've had mine in-case for about 3 months with ZERO scratching on my glass screen protector, with almost daily docking /undocking. I don't know if taking the case on and off may bend rails but I also don't have to considering mine docks without effort while in-case; the case doesn't feel stiff enough to bend anything if you have presence of mind not to rip it off. I'm not 100% I would trust my Skull and Co. to take a fall, but I also don't game while doing anything other than sitting down. Though I do wish the grips weren't hard plastic, rubber would be much more nice.

I love my Skull & Co grip! I also have the silicone JETech and Satisfye grips, the JETech grip is also nice for its price but of the three I have to say that the Satisfye grip is my least favorite. I've noticed that it (satisfye) leaves friction marks on my joycons, Im concerned that it will eventually scratch them. Id say I have medium sized hands, I agree with most people that the satisfye grip was most likely designed with only large hands in mind.

After some research I bought the skull & co grip without the case and I am very happy with it, I might try a different one later down the road but for now I am very happy and it does exactly what I wanted. I can’t go back to grip less handheld play and I play 99% of the time handheld.

What I love about the mumba is that they also offer the same case for the Switch Lite, and ever since using mine I can't go back, it's so much better than I'm actually surprised how I was able to play without one the first 2 months of owning my Switch Lite

Great video. I use that JETech grip. The bits that go over the top of the joycon take a little getting used to (I kept hitting them while trying to press L&R). I also like that it fits in the Hori travel case while attached to the Switch.

If only this video had come out sooner. In February of this year I bought the RDS grip instead of the Satisfye one (as the latter was not sold by any UK sellers and I was hesitant to import it). I'm 6"1 so I have quite large hands and it would be nicer to have larger grips than the RDS ones. It doesn't affect me too much, but I know I would've found the Satisfye one more comfortable. This video would've convinced me to import. Good job!

This video is the best answer on what switch grip to buy for handheld gaming on the go. Ive got the RDS and its an amasing grip i would say much better than the Satisfy even tho i have not tried that one but the design size is not right at all im gonna purchase the skull and co grip. The RDS 1 downfall only that it leaves scratches on the switch its self when remvong on and of fustrating when taking it of to put on dock cause can leave deeper scrathes.

I’ve had 2 skull and co grip cases for a year now. Great case. The carrying case bundle is worth it. You can set your switch up without using the kickstand.

These are some pretty nice looking grip cases. I have the Nyko thin case which is dockable on my Nintendo Switch. It's pretty nice.

Very detailed comparison! But I'll be sticking to the generic crystal hard cover :D My hands are small, and I feel the grips would make the Switch too bulky and heavy for me. I like the idea of the battery grip by Big Blue. However, I'm afraid it could brick my Switch like some of the 3rd party docks did to some users.

Quick fix for the big blue joycon grips, just put a small piece of felt on the top part that should eliminate any marks or scratches being transferred to the joycon.

Could you tell me which grip is larger? The rds or the skull & Co one? You see I'm buying a carrying case that fits the skull & Co grip, but I'm not sure if it fits the rds grip. It looks like it would fit, but I'm not sure, so could you just tell me which one of these two grips is bigger?

The first switch grip I bought was the Mumba rugged. While I liked the look and the feel I had to return it. I found it so hard to take off. I felt it was putting a lot of stress and pressure on the joycon as I was trying to remove it. The fact it comes with instructions to remove it should have been a red flag. Then I bought the Orzly grip case which is identical to jetech, it feels comfortable but still a little clunky to take off. Not nearly as bad as the Mumba, but it’s not a smooth transition from handheld to dock. Finally on Amazon Canada I found the finite hard shell grip case. It has amazing grips over the back of the joycon and a textured vegan leather back and only $15 CND. Even though it’s hard shell it’s slides off super easy, with no added pressure on the switch, BUT fits very snug giving the switch a very solid feel.
