John from www.growingyour... takes you on a field trip to ECHO in Ft. Myers, Florida to share with you the best perennial vegetable plant nursery in South Florida that specializes in edible and useful plants for your garden, so you can grow more food.
In this episode, John will take you on a tour of the ECHO nursery, and share with you some of his favorite varieties of leafy green vegetables that will grow year round in South Florida, as well as a selection of fruit trees. You will get a personal tour, and John will share his top tropical perennial vegetables that you must plant if you live in South Florida.
You will also discover: How you can have avocado all 4 seasons of the year by planting different varieties. You will about the easiest to grow perennial vegetables they are offering at ECHO and how easily you can grow them anywhere in South Florida.
John will also share tips on picking papaya fruit trees, as well as a few other fruit trees. You will learn about the one root vegetable that just must plant.
Finally, You will learn about the ECHO farmers market they have on-site every Friday and Saturday. You will also learn where to buy rock dust in the South Florida area.
Finally, John will take you inside the bookstore and share with you some seeds that you can purchase thru the mail. You will also learn about some of the best books that Echo offers in their bookstore.

Wow! That place is amazing. I used to live just north of there, but now in North FL, so quite a hike. But, I will check that place out next time I'm that far south. Great prices, and like you said, the kind of place you want to support.

I think John has a secret desire to move to South Florida. He can grow all those tropical fruit and year round veggies. I recommend just south of Orlando on the way to Ft Pierce. Cheaper. Medical marijuana just passed too.

Hi john, your videos have inspired me to not only garden but to try my hat at urban farming. I was wondering if I dig up my back yard which is about 8,000 square feet and put logs under the ground to make hugelkultur beds. What are my chances of getting termites since it will be a lot of logs, I'm a little scared!!!

Thanks for revisiting ECHO John. My favorite place to shop. I bought 5 of the avocados on that 40% to add to my grove of them (unfortunately the sale ended prior to your posting of this vid).

Hi John, do they have Telosma cordata. It’s a vine flowering plant and their flower are edible. I will stop by here in may for that Katuk after going on a cruise. Thanks

Do another echo nursery video.This place is amazing .There is alot you missed like you said and I hope you can go back again.I agree this is the best place in south florida to pick up hard to get food crops that you may not be able to get any where else and alot of the food crops are imported directly to echo and found no where else in this part of the world.They always have great prices to and the most helpful staff.
