@@floridafreeliving Same here. We moved a year ago and have been working on it slowly. We live in C. Florida and have planted moringa, mulberry, cranberry hibiscus, okra, herbs, everglades tomato, Mexican sunflower, seminole pumpkin, comfrey, passion fruit, sorrel, blueberries, blackberries, and bananas. I just bought some more trees yesterday - mulberries, coco plum (a new one), Barbados cherry, and Canna lilies. 😊 Great video, thank you!

Thanks for sharing... Mark Shepard doesn't use STUN when establishing plants / trees. He NOW recommends watering first 1-2 years. See Grazing Grass podcast with Mark Shepard.

I need more gardening videos in my life, I started a little food forest a couple years ago but have recently not been getting out there as much as I used to... I used to get inspired watching others have success I think that's a key to motivation for me... anyways, definitely sticking around to see more from you! I am in in west central FL have quite a few things planted but want to plant MORE. Lots of woodchip brought in the past, have another fresh load out there right now.. merry christmas to you.

Florida has a very similar climate to where I live in Australia although my zone is 11B. It's great for me to follow Florida permie youtubers. I live in Australia on the Gold Coast specifically, Labrador.

The house I live in here in Florida- when we bought it 12 years ago there was a little piece of metal fencing sticking up from the ground in the backyard. I finally dug it up yesterday and it's an entire roll of fencing. I am so sad. (I can't get it out!) There was also a car battery and a whole bunch of other garbage. Now I'm hesitant about planting my garden.

I just started a new garden with 6 yards of OB 50/50 and cypress mulch. However after watching your video I want to do another garden on the other side of the house. The other side has great shade but it is sandy material. How do you suggest I start? First few moves. Thanks for your help!

Love all the information you are providing, I just wish your cameraperson would show all the plants you are actually talking about instead of focusing mainly on you. To often your hand goes off camera and we never see the plant itself.

I really enjoy your video. You give a lot of good information with what to do with diferente species. I have a land where the morning glory is invasive. I can't see beauty on it, it's really hard to reduce the the number of reroots that it produce, it roots everytime that touch the soil. I´m being thinking that could be a good rooter if we squeeze the nodules.

Great video. I thought that the moringa has all nine of the amino acids which makes it a complete protein. Some grind the leaves for protein powder for protein shakes. I love the peppery taste and just throw the leaves in my salad.

I learned so much! This gives me hope. 💜🌱 Being here in central Florida myself I have been really trying but summer kills so much. I like this chop and drop method. I was always worried I would spread disease or mold or aphids. But it's apparent I'm not doing things right in comparison. Thank you!!

If you grow a lot, you can chop a lot. Then, you grow a lot of soil which grows a lot of life. Have you began building biomass on your property?

Each species is different. Start some now, then start some early spring. You’ve got time to start seeds now before winter.

Hi, new FL organic gardener here. Just started several raised beds in Tampa Bay Area. I started using Espoma products and so far have been pretty successful. I don’t think I saw or heard you say whether you use any similar products. Do your plants thrive with just chop & drop from other plants and water or are you also supplementing? Beautiful food forest & garden.

I have a young Moringa tree which i started from the seed in my garden soil. It seems to grow slowly and not looking great. Should I add some fertilizer (it's July now zone 9 b)

Yeah sure, add some fertilizer (Organic Material) around the base of the tree such as mulch, leaves & yard material or top dress it with some good organic compost/top soil. Also, pruning is definitely encouraged and maybe add a few more around the yard!

No. It will self seed if not maintained, this is not an invasive species.

From what I’ve been told, varieties (UF 1 & UF Best) have been well adapted to Florida and should do good for most residents here.

I wanted the Moringa tree but I have read stories online about it being large and self seeding taking over. Do you find you have a problem with that? I am older and a one person farm - I don't want to have something that can not be managed.

Never have them self seed. Never a problem.
