About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Our critically acclaimed books include “STORE FRONT: The Disappearing Face of New York”, “New York Nights”, “STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved” and “Broken Windows-Graffiti NYC”.
Come see the city & subscribe to our channel :)

Sir William Scottish yes we are on lockdown in NYC until at least mid-May but it may be much longer. We have seen the signs for free food (3 meals a day) in NYC but have not seen where they are actually serving it. We as independent contractors and under 65 years of age don’t have free healthcare and actually pay a good amount every month for our health insurance but don’t ever really use it....thankfully we are healthy . Please stay safe and healthy in sunny warm Miami!

Great video as always guys. I miss Katz sooo much. We'd go at least 2x a month. I'd kill for a corn beef on club with extra mustard and well done fries 😭 Oh and Dr. Brown's Blackcherry of course. Sometimes if I'm feeling extra fat I'll get a potato knish with onions & mustard. I'm never able to finish a sandwich so I always go home with the other half.

Hankster😑 thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! It makes us feel so proud that we not only helped support a local small business in our community but also created a nice video for everyone to watch. We are glad it brought back good memories of going there for a corned beef sandwich and fries 🍟 and a Dr. Brown’s soda at last twice a month. Did you know they have nationwide delivery? It’s a bit pricey but if you really wanted a taste of New York, nothing beats it right? And yes those sandwiches are big enough for 2 meals or at least for sharing between 2 people. We shared among three ( J&K and Hudson 🐾🐾)

They pay the Servers $24-29 per hour (Glassdoor) and a 15 pounds of Grade A Prime Brisket is $100 and that doesn’t count for the month of cooking it takes for that Pastrami.
