plus the person had time enough to just lift the throttle to let the guy pass instead of staying beside and drive in the dirt at some point. i mean the first failure was made by the caddilac driver but to not preventing a crash is as bad as provoking one.

@@jayd6038 Read it again, he said "you were at fault AFTER the first interaction. As in, not at fault for avoiding the bad merge, but at fault for their own behavior afterward, as well as the consequences of that behavior. The merging car was responsible for an improper lane change, but no contact was made. The cammer chose to get reckless themselves and chase down a vehicle that did not make contact with his car, and because of his or her recklessly driving after them, they crashed their own car. No police officer or insurance agency would assign fault for the crash to the merging car. This happened to my mom years ago. She swerved to avoid a driver merging into her instead of braking or holding position in the lane. She hit a car in the other lane and was found at fault for that crash.

It looks as if the cammer was wronged by being forced off the road, that is all good and cammer is not at fault. Then the cammer got angry and/or tried to follow the other car and lost control (cammers own fault).

Man I’d love to know what #2’s insurance company thought after seeing the dashcam, at any point they could have slowed down and made it to their destination safely, what a clown. Any newer drivers who might see this, if you’re on the road and there’s someone driving aggressively, just make sure you are clear of them and let them be. Accident avoidance pays off.

It boggles my mind how most hit and run cases are only slapped with a fine and a talking too. It should be immediate revocation of license and a steep base fine and criminal charges depending on the severity of the injuries sustained by those run into. Someone recklessly driving a car is positively more dangerous than someone smoking weed and sitting on a park bench.

Yup almost died in two hit and run accidents. Both the other driver was DUI. First one got probation. Btw she's on probation for another dui a few months earlier and no license. She ran a stop sign paralyzing the elderly man. After she hit me forcing me head on into a wall at 78mph. Probation and community service. 2020 guy actually crushed me between my truck and his car while dui. My leg wrapped around the trailer hitch cutting my foot off, shattering my leg, hips and spine fractured. The DA dropped 7 felonies down to community service and probation. No restitution, letter of apology, no day in court. Luckily I'm a veteran otherwise the court would have left me with over $800k in medical expenses and numerous surgeries. The VA paid for it all. It's so fucked up. No license, insurance should be everything you just said. Def mandatory jail time and full restitution.

@Themeparkfanatic first dui chick no license, insurance or registration and no assets on top of she already had 4 failure to appear warrants. Second guy no license, insurance or registration and again no assets renting a trailer. I would spend tens of thousands in legal fees and probably get awarded $2 a month for 40 years as payment. Not worth the hassle. Although I am actually currently sueing county district attorney office for the second one. How do you turn attempted vehicular manslaughter, dui with serious injury, hit and run with serious injury etc down to probation and community service. I was denied justice as a victim so my lawyer has a very nice suit going against them for that. First dui meant to say she did get punished..........2 years probation and I never saw a day in court for that one either. She's still driving today.

I agree with everything except basing it on the severity of the injuries. I'd prefer it be based on the parameters of the crash. You can hit someone head on at a decent speed and they not sustain terrible injuries, but if you flee that scene, you still deserve a stiff ass criminal penalty, imo.

#3 verified he didn't have insurance and took off. WTF can't people like that be arrested and have their stuff confiscated to pay for the damages. He's got a truck, uninsured but it can be sold for something. Maybe he has other stuff as well. Here in B.C. that's a $598 fine and up to 6 months jail, in Alberta it's $2,000 and up to 6 months. Plus whatever tickets they get for causing an accident. It's cheaper to buy insurance than get caught without, even if not in an accident, it works here. Very few drive without insurance, America could do the same if you didn't listen to all those woke dogooders who say mandatory insurance "discriminates" against poor people.

@@randibgood A few months ago in another video like this I had a massive argument with a woman who insisted that poor people didn't have to pay for insurance. If after paying rent, food and gas they "couldn't" afford insurance then it was actually discriminating against them to force them to pay or face fines and or jail time. So it's up to the rest of us to buy extra insurance for uninsured driver protection, if we don't and are hit by an uninsured driver it's OUR fault for not paying extra. Talk about double standard. Even when I pointed out that instead of paying for gas they could pay for a bus pass, no that's "discriminating" their "right" to drive. Of course selling the car and buying a "pedal" bike is again discrimination. The laws reflect her opinion. The politicians/voters allow these people to get away with it with no penalty. At least here I'm covered even with basic against uninsured plus they get fined and maybe jail time. Oh, and the cops actually LOOK for uninsured motorists as they're driving around so they catch them hopefully before they cause an accident.

A hit in run can give you pain for the rest of your life and several thousand dollars to fix the damages. If you run you’re a criminal and you deserve more than 1 year as you’ve proven you have no care or consideration for others and have no responsibility for your own mistakes.

Hit & run is reckless disregard & negligence and the fact that the offender does not stick around to determine injuries of any of the parties should make it criminal negligence if any injury is involved. Making it a civil matter does not seem to be any kind of a deterrent when you are dealing people that have no license or insurance and nothing to lose (monetarily speaking) in the first place.

Watching these videos have helped me so much avoiding crashes. I’ve avoided being hit 3 times now, literally one of those moments being a few hours ago. A u-haul started turning into my lane, guess they didn’t see me or they didn’t care idk which lol. I had to slam on my brakes and ended up driving over a curb to avoid being side swiped, luckily my car didn’t get damaged driving over the curb 😮‍💨

Right? You can see the truck's signal before the car gets gets next to it so there was plenty of time to slow down to avoid getting hit. Big trucks have weird and large blind spots, so it's better for a car to just back off and let them in, than try to get around them.

That’s part of the problem. The other driver didn’t cut in. LOL. They had plenty of space to move in front of this left lane cruiser. The left lane cruiser cammer didn’t need to adjust their speed at all. They chose to, not surprisingly, continue being a POS and do their best at not letting the other, faster driver in. Funniest shit I’ve ever seen in a hit and run was a guy who crossed the red light hit a car, immediately gets out and takes their plates. I was eating near there so I got to see everything that happened after. The cops found some paperwork with their full name n address. So I’m guessing they caught his ass at home with his plates 😂

Even if they took the plates, they left the car which has the Vehicle Identification Number easily identifiable. Most governments keep track of who owns which VIN and where said owner resides.

So long as there is no evidence of him operating the vehicle, such as a picture of video of him in the driver seat the time of the incident, he cannot be charged with anything. The only thing that can happen legally is he confesses like a dipshit, but obviously insurance premiums won't be nice if people are using your car(s) to do hit and runs.

If the car was stolen, and the plates were also stolen (likely from a different car), then that's probably why. He took the plates with him to swap onto his next stolen car. It's pretty common for car thieves to use burner plates to avoid detection.

Was out driving last Saturday night, around midnight. There was a truck & 2 sports cars all grouping together speed racing & the truck blasting me with his exhaust at one stop light. I let the 3 of them get way ahead of me, so I couldn't be involved in their shenanigans or get exhaust blasted & have my eardrums busted by the 2 sports cars engines. It was a straight road, so I got caught behind them at another red light. This time, I kept a several car distance between me & the truck. I think this angered him I wouldn't get close enough, so he started revving his engine like he was throwing a tantrum. Still stopped at the intersection. On the right side of the intersection, a couple police showed up while we were all waiting for a green. The 3 groupies all proceeded to stop blasting engines & drove under the limit once the light turns green for us. Shut them up real fast. Anyway I just posted this to show, that if there are other drivers around you being aggressive & clearly looking for some attention, give them a good distance of space. Slow down, miss a green light if you have the time. Don't continue to follow the rules of the road, end up getting hit, break checked, or royally annoyed. Just avoid these people at all costs. Don;t aggravate people because you're angry and want to give them a piece of your mind. Take the high road, and stay silent and let them pass you. No matter how much this hurts your ego of wanting to prove you were in the right, it's not worth risking your life or costing you thousands of dollars. Just give up, and let karma handle them. In my opinion, you're just as much at fault for any damages that happen to you by not avoiding very obvious dangerous people. Identify the threat, and avoid them, even if you're simply following the rules of driving. It's really not worth it even if you have them on dashcam for proof. Being a TRULY safe driver, is knowing when the rules of the road no longer apply (such as swerving to miss a puddle of deep water, or letting aggressive drivers have the right of way).

#2 With the Genius of the Year award. First mistake, staying on the shoulder for longer than needed. . . That almost causes them to crash. Second mistake? Chasing someone who didn't hit you. No reason to go doing that. Third mistake? Chasing them on a ramp at high speeds in a car NOT designed to handle corners well at HIGH SPEEDS. Please people, if your car looks like a half circle, a misshapen pillbug, or a cube, DO NOT try cornering at high speeds. These vehicles have NO center of gravity and will roll at the drop of a pin. I mean seriously what did you think was going to happen if you caught up with them? "HEY, MAN YOU TRIED MERGING INTO MY LANE AND DIDN'T CHECK! SO I HAD TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER NOT TO GET HIT!!" I mean like honestly they'd at best say "Oh Sorry." And that'd be that. Mistake four? Thinking your dashcam footage would help you get the damages that YOU caused to YOUR OWN VEHICLE covered by someone else. YOU lost control. YOU went off the road. YOU drove recklessly. No one else. No one MADE you do that. YOU DID IT. YOU cover the damages that YOU caused. Please, people, don't do what this person did. It won't work well for you. More so please DRIVE SAFE! Defensive driving is the SAFEST driving. Don't be a driving donor. As much as someone could use your organs, you have a lovely life to live.

Well the reckless driver here is you, yes an inconsiderate merge by the other driver, but you sped up to block him, then chased after him, losing control through no-ones fault but your own, anything after the attempted merge was down to you, not the other driver.
