I purchased a Cloud 9 seat weeks before I got my first ebike (the Lectric XP) after watching hours of reviews on KZfaq. The 2 top seats that came up time and time again were the Cloud 9 and Bikeroo seats as the most recommended item to change on the bike immediately. I had both on my wishlist and found the Cloud 9 on a really special deal during amazon's prime day. At nearly 1/2 the price that it normally sells for, I picked it up right away and saw that it was an item that sold out often.
Keeping my eye on the Bikeroo seat as well knowing I would be getting a second ebike in the future, that seat also sold out often or had really high price fluctuations as well.
I finally got both seats in hand and in this video I do a run down of the specs of the seat and my personal opinion of which is better.

Thanks for your excellent review. My first upgrade for my XP 1.0 will be Cloud 9 and Zoom suspension seat post. I’ve put 700 miles on original seat and haven’t had a problem at all with its comfort but after viewing so many YT reviews and recommendations for these upgrades, why not? Especially if I can find both for such low costs!

Good choice! I agree 100%. I decided to start selling the ZOOM posts on my website specifically because for such a low cost, it really helps absorb the bumps that give me back pain after a lot of riding. I normally lift off the seat when riding on rougher areas, but electric bikes tend to make me more lazy about standing and using my legs to absorb the shocks of the road.

Good Video . . . sounds like you saw my 2 videos on the long haul comparing these 2 seats. I agree with your comparison. I felt that it was pretty much a tradeoff when comparing comfort. Where the Bikeroo let me down was durability in that the cover started splitting (on both sides) at the nose after 1500 miles of riding and the Cloud 9 is still holding up at 2000+ miles.
@EbikeProducts

Yes!! You did an awesome comparison telling of your riding mileage on each. I would not have know about the durability issue had I not seen your video on it. Glad to hear that the Cloud 9 can do 2000 miles! It blows me away on how much riding you are able to do.

I think it is worth mentioning that the quality of a bike seat- whether avoiding perineum pain or "sit point" cushioning is in my opinion less dependent on bulk, weight, saddle springs and "cushiness" , then on the design, materials, technology and individual fit. Seat adjustment fore and aft and up and down can also make some difference in comfort. Also, padded bike shorts can also help somewhat. A suspension post may also help absorb bumps. If you are finding your bike seat uncomfortable, you should probably find a bike store with a good seat catalog and let them help you find the best option and adjustments. You may have to try out a number of seats in search of the best fit.

Every time I would try to purchase the Cloud9 saddle, it would be unavailable. So by default I instead bought the Bikeroo. I put it on my DJ Bikes folding step thru, and have now got over 500 miles logged on the seat. It’s very comfortable, and once I got the springs set at my happy place, I feel super confident while riding. It’s a great bike saddle!

I am using the Bikeroo more than my Cloud 9 at the moment due to the shorter nose and lighter weight. They felt the same to me when I first got the Bikeroo, but now after a few miles I think its actually a little softer than the Cloud 9. Both are great seats!

Good review of a few seats, one other low-tech option for making your seat less tempting to thieves is to just put a plastic grocery bag over it, sort of the garbage bike look. I found the stock Lectric XP seat nearly unbearable but like you it's one of the first things I replace. Personally I use a Brooks B-17 with a Thudbuster ST seatpost and it's been awesome. Cheers!
@EbikeProducts
@EbikeProducts 3 жыл бұрын
WOW! Great combo! The Brooks B-17 doesn't look that soft as I don't see a lot of padding, but it sure looks amazingly classy. Is it softer than the stock Lectric XP seat? The Thudbuster STseat post is awesome so I guess you wouldn't need a softer seat. With the price tag on your seat and post combined, I don't know if I would be comfortable with a trash bag though, lol. My less expensive setup I think would be ok in my area for a look that would not make it desirable as a deterrent. I think I would switch out the quick release with a nut and bolt release if I had your seat and post or still take them in the store with me or even the whole bike in the store if I could get permission to do so. Thanks for the idea!
@ElectronSurfer
@ElectronSurfer 3 жыл бұрын
@@EbikeProducts The B-17 is great on comfort, because it is tensioned leather you get support without pressure. I think the comfort seat market is interesting as you really need to know how your sit bones are oriented. My local bike shop used to carry a special memory foam you would sit on and you can see and measure where your sit bones press down. A big cushy seat without support at the sit bones will get uncomfortable really fast. The Thudbuster works well. My comment on the bag was just for a theft deterrent, I just take my seat and seatpost off and put it in my backpack. Have a good one.

It is evident that many re-detect the advantages of sit up-bikes. These make sense in conjunction with wider and more cushioned seats. A narrow "butt-crack seat" on a sit-up bike is torture. We will also see the comeback of steel frames, and rim brakes, and partially internal gear hubs. Let's make a bet on it!

I have the same Cloud9 seat. I weigh about 229lbs. The saddle is very comfortable and will absorb the bumps without a suspension seatpost; especially on my Lectric XP (my opinion). I did try the Zoom suspension seatpost with the Cloud9 and the ride was too bouncy. The max weight of the post was about 220lbs. I like a firm saddle without too much bounce from my rides. Overall, the Cloud9 will provide a comfortable ride without using an suspension seatpost. Again, this is only my opinion.

I think you can adjust the bouncy level of the zoom,using allen key by rotating it(the metal cylinder with the allen key slot) away from the seatpost edge,nearer to your saddle(,it will make the spring harder.)

A big difference is the weight of the rider! When your whole body is perched on a pad and you weigh over 250 a big and wide perch is going to reduce numb bum a lot. These lightweight athletic types could sit on a broom handle all day…I found an hour on the stock mtb saddle was getting really hard to bear. I think I’ll go with Bikeroo for being shorter (and lighter).

I did take my Vise Grips, and swelled the metal part you mentioned, which worked for a while, but it's back to squeaking again, so I'll have to do it again! My thinking on the Bikeroo, is to add a suspension seat post 'Suntour NCX' as it's suppose to take most of the bumps out of riding, which would be nice, especially on longer rides, as I've been on some around 40 miles, and the bumps do tend to get tiring. Thanks for the reply!

The original Bikeroo was very squeaky and noisy, and after about 50 miles became even worse. One of the springs had collapsed. Bikeroo sent a replacement immediately, and for two miles the replacement was quieter. Then it became really squeaky again, quite intolerable. So I binned it. It seems very cheaply made and not sturdy.

There is another Bikeroo seat that you should have compared the cloud9 seat to. Bikeroo makes a seat with Memory Foam that is a much softer seat to the touch. Also the Bikeroo seat has a split opening in it. So I am not sure it is a good comparison.
@EbikeProducts
@EbikeProducts 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I haven’t seen the Bikeroo model with memory foam. Would you happen to have a link? I thought the one I showed in the video was their best. If there is one with actual memory foam, that would definitely be softer. Since it’s so similar to the Cloud 9, a softer seat cushion with memory fin would definitely be a huge advantage over the Cloud 9.

@EbikeProducts
@EbikeProducts 11 ай бұрын
Yes. Just my personal opinion but I think it would easily make it cross country. Even though I believe the older models (1.0 and 2.0) would probably make it, you’d definitely want the newer models (3.0 or XPedition) if you haven’t already bought one. I think the XPedition is an ebike made for a challenge like that and would perform well. I’m not sure about the XPremium, as I have never ridden or reviewed one, but a mid-drive could definitely utilize the gearing well for the ride and range efficiency. The XPedition dual batteries would be a great help with range and as the design was made to prevent motor burnout, I feel it’s the most reliable for that kind of journey. Plus it can really haul a lot of weight, so if you carry extra batteries or cargo, it would be better size of a bike to do so. I’d highly recommend Flatout or some other premium tire sealant as well as you can tell I really believe in the stuff.

Although the Elastomer Springs are also good for outside too, according to other reviews I read (I think on Amazon reviews) the one with springs were much better for outdoor use and the elastomer springs better for stationary indoor bikes. I honestly do not have first hand knowledge/experience myself testing the 2, but when doing my research before making my purchase, this was something that I took a mental note about.

Hi. I’m looking for a seat and seat post that can allow the seat to sit a little lower on my electric bike (friends electric). My wife is 5’5 and she is not able to touch the ground which makes her too nervous to ride the bike. Does the cloud 9 force the seat to sit higher then stock?
@keep68
@keep68 3 жыл бұрын
My son is 4'10" and my daughter is 5'. Both of them prefer the Puroma Bicycle Saddle Dual Spring Designed Suspension Shock Absorbing seats with their Lectric XP Step Thru. The springs on the Cloud 9 is too stiff, so you have to pair it with a suspension seat post which adds an extra 2-3 inches to the seat height. The Puroma is the best choice for shorter people.
@EbikeProducts
@EbikeProducts 3 жыл бұрын
I took a look at the Friend and I think the Cloud 9 will make it higher due to the extra padding vs the stock seat that came with the bike. I am not 100% sure about the Friend’s design, but if the seatpost stops before hitting the seat bracket, sometime you can cut the bottom of the post to allow it to go a little lower. If the seat goes all the way down, then I am not sure there is much you can do. My wife is 5’2” and she can’t reach the ground on the Lectric XP with any seat comfortably, so we’ll have to find another ebike for her has a lower frame. Being confident on the ebike is important for safety reasons and with the power these bikes have, I don’t want her having extra fears about learning to get off the seat at stops until she’s ready. CitizenCycle has a youtube video with his wife on the Himiway 20” ebike. His wife is around 5’5” or leas and she fit it much better. If I can find a link to that video I’ll post it here.

I saw a picture on the internet of that bike and see that there are 2 rails on the bottom of the stock seat that are similar in design to the Bikeroo and Cloud9. If you can confirm that the current seat you have on your bike has 2 rails like those seats, then both seats should work fine. Just an FYI, those seats are usually recommended for less aggressive riding, so I’m not sure if they will be comfortable for peddling hard off seat during off road trail riding uphills or may get a little in the way on fast downhill. It’s also a ton heavier than your current seat. It won’t matter if you don’t do a lot of mountain trails though, and in that case you’d get a much more comfortable ride with them.
