Basques who attended the recent 48th Annual Kern County Basque Festival 2022 in Bakersfield, Calif. talk about what it means to be Basque. Their favorite aspects of the Basque culture include the sense of community it provides, the food, and activities like handball and the card game mus. The Basque picnic in Bakersfield is the largest Basque celebration in California. The Basque festival is held at the Kern County Basque Club every year over Memorial Day weekend. The Basque people come from the region of northern Spain and southern France and speak the oldest language of Europe, which they call "Euskara."

The Basque Country is the cradle of ancient warriors and knights. They are less likely to be immigrated by Portuguese and Mooro people, so they have light skin, red lips, high noses, deep eyes, and look more elegant than other autonomous regions of Spain. Especially, they are a people with a martial spirit and a princely spirit. Typically, A.Bilbao club never buys players originating outside the Basque country. Real Sosiedas as well as 1 opposing team in each Spanish city are royally sponsored vassals. The Basque Country and Basque people are so beautiful.

Keeping us all in touch with each other. Now we see how vast is the Basque population in America and on many other countries. Lets keep our Basque spirit, culture, traditions and love for our Roots.

🙌🏼aupa Euskal Kazeta. Love seeing the youth talk about the love for the culture & community. Of course, You know what I’ll ask about…Hizkuntzaren buruz! 😅 My mission is hard, but I’ll keep plugging along and hopefully get more Basque learners. Hope to make it back to Bakersfield again. I think 2014 was the last time.

A DNA test with Ancestry would be practical to do. Ancestry has the largest database in the world. I'm 6% Basque! I am proud about all of my ancestors. Bizi Euskal Herria!!!! 🇪🇦🇨🇵

Did the Basques settle the Canary Islands a long time ago ?

It is widely believed that people from the Iberian peninsula migrated to the Canary Islands. Therefore it makes sense that Basque explorers would be adventurous in their landing on the islands.
