Yes…I’m subscribed to Sandi Hester’s channel. She’s great. I don’t do her style of painting, but I love ❤ to see her process, find out about the supplies she uses and hear her reflections on making art….just like I do for you! 😊 p.s. I have one Blackwing pencil too. There is a difference…they move in a very smooth and faster sort of silk-like way than other pencils. I had heard about them, but it’s hard to describe until you use one yourself.

I love using my pencil stash in various mixed medium styles too. I had the 132 set of Prismacolor for about 15+ years, then for Xmas this year my mom got me the 150 set. I was lucky and got a good set of the pencils. I also got some Derwent pencils- the whole 72 set of Watercolors, Inkentse and Chromaflows to add to my range. It will be fun seeing the textures and effects I can get this next year with all the pencils and watercolors I have. I also got all the pastel tones open stock from Holbein this last year, which I love using. I'll be doing a "No buy 2023" and wanted to stock up on things before hand :) Oh, just a little update for you- Prismacolor is discontinuing their open stock of Lilac and Lavender. Lindsay the Frugal Crafter did a video recently discussing this development. I'm so sad because they're a favorite of mine T_T

They are sooo pretty ♥ I will treat myself with new Polychromos for Christmas because I'm into more detailed drawings lately. I like the Ultramarine Light, Cream and Coral a lot. A few of their pinks and turquoises/teals too. I think I would try the Derwent Drawing pencils next year. They look nice for some natural sketching like quick landscapes or something.

I am enjoying your favorites! It is fun to see others favorite colors and different pencils, I have been very into my Prismacolor's lately and just discovered the black cherry color! so pretty! I also enjoy Sandi Hester's channel I agree with you girls I absolutely love the Derwent pencils they are so soft and creamy!!

It’s lovely to see other people’s favourite pencils! My smallest one is currently the Luminance Payne’s Grey - it will soon join the white and cream Polychromos that are too small to sharpen 😅 It’s just such a lovely bluish grey. Another current favourite is the Luminance Cassel Earth - initially I was irritated by the grainy texture but now I love it for shadows in most colours 😎

I enjoy your channel & Sandi Hester's channel. This is a fantastic video because I love pencils as they are my favourite medium. It showcases the pencils I have with fresh eyes. I would love to buy the Caran D'ache Museum Aquarelle pencils but here in Australia they are expensive. Maybe I should just buy a few selective ones. Thanks for this video it was great.

Glad you're enjoying Natalie! I have two, but I mostly prefer to use the Dahle one. It's less dramatic but still long and pointy :) Afmat is full on drama :) Both great! Aren‘t pencils so amazing? I love combining pencils with basically everything, but I also enjoy using them on their own. My most used brands are Derwent Colorsoft and Drawing, Prismacolor, Polychromos, Posca and Koh-i-Noor Polycolor. And since recently the Arrtx color pencils. I tried them just a short while ago and they are amazing! Highly pigmented, super soft and waxy, they are like Prismacolor but with less bloom, a much more solid build, and half the price. I also sometimes like using stuff like kids pencils though, like FC classic or the really cheap Brutfuners. Overall I think I just love pencils 😸✏️💜. For watercolor pencils I use Koh-i-Noor Mondeluz and Albrecht Dürer. For some reason, with watercolor pencils I do not feel the need to try so many brands as with regular ones. - That’s actually a good thing 😅. And while I love Polychromos, I can see why you don’t. They are great for doing straight pencil art, but I think they suck for mixed media. Way too transparent, and on rough cold press they tend to smudge. They also don’t feel super nice to use. I love them for what they are good at, which is layering and sharp details, but I do not think that they are the Holy Grail that some people make them out to be. They are absolutely amazing, but certainly not at everything. For anything mixed media I am definitely on the soft and waxy side. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

I just bought a full set of 120 Supracolor Aquarelle by Caran de Ache. They used to be called “Supracolor 2.” Someone said they are “student grade,” but I don’t think they are and at $179.00 (sale on Dick Blick) I hope not. Plus I have 2 smaller sets of them and know how beautiful they are. Now, that being said, I understand, they are not quite on the same level as Luminance, Museum Aquarelle’s or Holbein or Derwent Lightfast in terms of numbers of highly lightfast colors, but they’re not that far off either. I did sort of regret not getting a smaller set of Luminance or other super premium ones too. But then I purchased a set of Stabilo Pastel Pencils, that are highly rated and supposed to be very lightfast….and a few other things, so I had to stop. Like you, I do love Prismacolors. I have their rebranded and fairly recent “soft cores” (that aren’t exactly “new” but are different from their older versions) and a vintage set of 90 from years back that I still use some too. Thanks, it’s so great to see all your fave colors, many that are mine too!

Prismacolor is my favorite, hands down. DerWent are the least favorite - too hard. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Prismacolor has to discontinue lilac and lavender due to an inability to get the pigment for these colors. They are going to be eventually replaced by two new colors called orchid and amethyst. So, you might want to stock up on your favorite lavender.
