Very good. I've been doing research on Lard versus the many alternatives. So far and remembering my childhood days 70 years ago. When the butter alternative is practically 2 steps away from plastic. The higher flash point makes Lard a better alternative. As usual, I'm finding big tech has twisted the facts around so bad, it gave Lard a bad name. It's all about money. Thank you for this very good video and bringing back the days when women cooked and not going to a flash freeze frenzy. 😊

Thanks! I agree that lard makes the best crust, especially when rendered from pork from a local farmer! Happy baking!

I just found your pie crust recipe and used it for an apple pie that's in the oven. I can't wait to see how it turns out. I haven't made my own crust for probably 25 years so this is exciting! Thank you for sharing your recipe! ☺🍎🥧☕

It's the best right? Lard get a bad rap, but I have never had a better pie crust than one made with lard. Cheaper and WAY better than butter!

I was confused about the salt content too. But it made sense to me to use 2 tsps

Sorry about that, glad you figured it out!

Você pode acrescentar farinha de amendoas também.

Almond flour would be a nice gluten free alternative. You would have to be careful about how to replace it though, it doesn't work quite the same as wheat and has it's own level of fats. Let me know if you find a good recipe!

What temperature and time do you use for the chicken pie please?

Hello there! The pie I baked at 375F for about 40-45min. Thanks for the comment!

Never mentioned oven temperature
@idamandahomestead42214 ай бұрын
Hello there and thanks for the comment. It's true I didn't mention an oven temperature and that's because it really depends on what kind of pie you are making. If you are making a fruit pie, a meat pie, or just baking the shell as is the recipe will vary. This recipe was a meat pie and so I baked it at 375F for 40min. Best of luck with your pie crust and let me know if you have any more questions! Thanks!

You wrote 5 teaspoons of water in the recipe below but its actually 5 TABLESPOONS. Just letting you know so that a beginner doesn't get disappointed with their pastry:)

The video looks like you were about to used a tablespoon of salt then it shows you grabbing a teaspoon and said "and then I'm going to add a teaspoon of salt" shouldn't it be 2 teaspoons since it's a double recipe? Your ingredients listed says 1 teaspoon of salt to 2 cups flour.
@idamandahomestead42216 ай бұрын
Yes, sorry about the confusion. It should be 2 teaspoons for a double recipe. Thanks for the comment, have you tried the recipe? It's my favourite! Have a great day!

Thanks! I never really liked pie crust until I tried making it only with lard. Apparently I have "ruined" my family for all other pies! Thanks for watching!
