Bir is a picturesque town in the west of Joginder Nagar Valley in Himachal Pradesh. The place is also known as the Paragliding Capital of India and has lately evolved into a favourite travel destination for people who like tranquil mountain destinations and adventure too.
In today's episode we have zeroed in on some beautiful cafes in this region where one can have a scrumptious and relaxing meal along with a spectacular view of the surroundings.
The first eatery is June 16 Cafe, a quaint and cosy cafe owned by actor couple Ritu Barmecha and Sumit Soni. They have an elaborate menu with lots of Indian and International food options. We settled for Thai Green Curry with rice. This combo was pretty hearty and fragrant. You also get the view of the serene valley and the paragliders.
The second place is Avva's, a popular South Indian cafe run by an affable family who are originally from Telangana. Its minimalistic ambience and homely food attracts lots of visitors. Here we tried their special 3 in 1 dosa. This delicious rice and lentil crepe was smeared with Chettinad masala, chilli garlic paste and podi masala and accompanied by spiced potato mixture, sambar and coconut chutney.
The third stop was Bhoomi Cafe which is a spacious all women cafe that is renowned for their bakery items and desserts. Their limited yet delightful menu revolves around fresh local produce. Since it was lunchtime and the staff was on break, we couldn't get anything to eat but Rigzin made us try one of their wholesome smoothies made of ripe mango, mulberries and almonds. It was absolutely luscious and wholesome.
The fourth stop was Northern Cafe which is another simple eatery located on an empty and tranquil stretch of the valley overlooking the paragliding activity area. Their eclectic menu consisting of some popular North Indian, Indo Chinese, Continental and Himachali dishes. We ordered a sweet walnut filling based siddu which is a steamed leavened bread from Himachal which was pretty decent. They also serve dham on a particular weekday.
The fifth stop was Silver Linings quaint cafe nestled in a serene location with a beautiful backdrop. This place is famous for their desserts and the stunning natural ambience. Tourists come here to unwind amidst the pristine nature. We had a classic pancake over here that was topped with granola and honey. Unlike the usual pancake, this was somewhat crusty and crumbly in texture yet delicious.
The sixth stop was Nyingma Hotel & Restaurant. This is deemed as the best place for Tibetan cuisine. On reaching there we parked ourselves at the outdoor sitting area and ordered a chicken devil momo from their diverse menu. It's fried chicken momo tossed in a sweet, sour and spicy sauce based gravy. We enjoyed its balanced flavours.
Next we met our friends Anoop & Jasmine at Gunehar village. Here they run a community art space cum library for the rural kids named Kahani Ki Dukan. Their vision behind it was to introduce the kids to the infinite world of art that inculcates the ability of story telling in them. To sustain this marvelous initiative cum art art residency, they also conduct village walks for discerning tourists which introduces them to the culture, lifestyle and struggles. Since we were long craving for a homecooked traditional meal, Anoop and Jasmine took us to the home of one of their hosts Pyar Chand Ji who served us a simple hearty dinner with much warmth.
Next morning, before leaving for Delhi we visited the the 4 rooms and tables restaurant for their much recommended coffee. The natural ambience and menu at this seventh stop was so charming that we ended up having a simple Italian breakfast consisting of inhouse bread, jam, butter, fresh fruits and omelette. Experiencing the food in the serene and tranquil setting was a surreal experience.
The last stop of this tour was Suryansh Bhojanalaya on NH 154. We stopped here for some customary dhaba food but as we were already full, we just had a aalu pyaz paratha with chai. It was pretty decent and filling. The ambience and service was quite good too. Thus ended our Bir Food Tour with some pleasing memories.

Beautiful locale, scenic views, wonderful vibes, relaxed pace n lovely cafe s... All of the cafe s seem to have a story to tell... their v own n v personal unmatched wth tht of others... personally i liked the kind of initiative taken up by 'kahani ki dukaan'... also the home visit showed a glimpse of their kind of living... Truly,..., a simple, natural, n a welcoming-warm appeal... Was excellent...!!

Kahani ki dukan reasearched very well 💚. Usse dish ko hum khatta bolte (tangy-sour) I'm kangra local, uss fruit ka naam दुडूंज (big orange type fruit of football size) होता है। उस्को peel off करने के बाद small pieces मे कट। अब बनाते है उन pieces ke liye marination grinder me गुड़,corriander,spinach,jeera,salt,chilly green and red powder as well, grind karke पेस्ट बनाते फिर mix pieces in it। Then smoky flavour Dene k liye,ek charcoal ka tukda in mustard oil । उसके बाद धूप में क्या ही मजा आता है। गुड for our blood, vitamin C, and for healthy stomach

He is also the most unhygienic spit sharer as he makes his hosts eat his jhootha. He does this to save money and thus violates even covid protocol besides normal rules of hygiene. It is an act against Indian culture too.

@@iBeeRaut Shabari was a saint with supernatural powers. Her saliva, I am sure, did not contain any bacteria. Moreover, it was an isolated incident as neither Shabari nor Lord Rama gave anyone their jhootha. And, Lakshman did not like even this one isolated incident. Moreover, you are identifying Shabri - a bhakt with Sapra - a materialistic person whose main aim is to make money. Secondly, food coming from the same karhai will taste the same so Sapra's - as per you Shabri like tasting it before - does not make any sense. So much so for your knowledge of Indian culture and your spurious arguments. People do not say "no" either because they are being filmed or the Sapra guy makes eating his jhootha a condition which people who need money cannot dismiss. Sapra takes advantage of people's need of money to save his own money and demolishes hygiene, covid protocols and Indian culture in the process.

Very nice series for sure, especially exploring the unexplored places of Himachal... Just one suggestion Anubhav - I wish you can include more conversations with people. We usually just see a glimpse of the conversation but would be good if we get to see the elaborate version of the conversations as well. Yes, you go to explore the food, but the stories are the USP of your channel... Can you please include more conversations with people in your videos? If you cannot include it in the same video, maybe you can release an extended version just for some interesting conversations...
