The problem with interviewing a real estate agent is they simply cannot help themselves, promoting what they believe so strongly in, so you're getting a very biased opinion, which almost feels like a sales pitch, but I still appreciate your fine quality video.

Better quality of life for much less money? Cheap movie tix? No car traffic on the main drag? Fresh food? 50-cent avocados? 75-degree winters? Doctors who make house calls? I can't even afford to go TO a doctor here in New York, and that's with health insurance, so called. Most of all: ocean breezes. Sign me up! And those low taxes? Yes, please. I think I could do this.

Spent 10 days over Christmas and New Year, 10 mins by car from Playa Del Carmen (Barcelo Maya Resort). Outside of our highly secured hotel was absolutely awful poverty. Basic infrastructure is lacking. Internet at our brand new premium room was way too slow. Weather and beaches are gorgeous people are friendly and hard working. BUT, this naturally beautiful region is really just dotted with international wealth juxtaposed on a poor, corrupt, dangerous and dysfunctional society. Such a shame.

@HamiltonRb

I have been there a couple times, and took the ferry as well over to Cozumel, but I would prefer Puerto Vallarta or Merida to live and Playa to visit, since it is so touristy & basically a one street town. Just my opinion.
@ModernAging
@ModernAging 4 жыл бұрын
@@HamiltonRb well, that sounds like a pretty good plan as well!

@@HamiltonRb My goodness! A "One Street Town"? Sure, 5 Ave is big but 10th and 15th street are also awesome and would be great to visit on their own not to mention the 40 some Calle (Streets). So many of the best restaurants can be found outside of the very touristy 5th street. I have been there some 6 times and have spent several months in the town and always find something new each day as I roam the streets. Get off 5th. Speaking of restaurants, I have found Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Lebanese, Italian, French, German, US, Mexican, Myan, Vegan, Vegetarian, Stake Houses, Bars, pizza, and many more. English is usually spoken by someone in each. Activities abound all around the town. It is a great take-off spot for many parks and activities. Everything from the enormous Xcaret, Xplore down to a simple cenote or beach swim. Although the beaches have suffered recently from the tide of sargasso grass, on good days they are beautiful, something that Marida certainly does not have. I have also had a great time in Puerto Vallarta but most beaches there are rocky and the water is cold. Old town Puerto Vallarta is fun but can not compare to the density of shops, restaurants, B and Bs, and small hotels found in Playa. I also do my major dental work in Playa. A room, flight and the dental costs for an implant also cost me less than half in Playa compared to here in the US.
@HamiltonRb
@HamiltonRb 4 жыл бұрын
Bill White I live half the year in Puerto Vallarta but have visited Playa, which I like also. PV has a much more spread out variety of restaurants, shopping and activities which makes it more livable for me
@billwhite7925
@billwhite7925 4 жыл бұрын
@@HamiltonRb Yes, I would agree that PV has a lot to offer and it is more spread out. I especially loved the Sierra Madre mountains. I must say that because of the density in Playa, I feel a bit safer walking around on 5th, 10th and 15th Av than walking at night in the PV old town area, with the exception of the beautiful Malecon.

The humidity is good for your joints? I thought dry, warm was best, I guess that’s a new way to better embrace humidity! We live in in the US, summers are very hot and humid. I love the beach, although my husband is concerned about hurricanes. I saw another video of you riding around with a really nice realtor, and he mentioned some place to live that’s kind of shielded from hurricanes, but I didn’t catch where he said that is. Can you tell me more, if you know where the realtor referred to? Thank you so much! I’m really enjoying your channel and this talk with you two ladies! Are you both realtors?
