Thank you for this video. Very helpful! We have a huge project on our hands... We're on backroads across from a farm so we have a ditch along the road and a creek that runs from the farm all through the woods that intersects our ditch. This creek/ditch has been neglected and it no longer flows and has very stagnant water, so we're fixing the previous owners neglect up one day at a time! I was thinking I can plant some flowers along the shallow part of the ditch and I think it'll look great. Thanks again! Now I feel lucky to have some Joe Pye weed already growing in part of the ditch! The butterflies absolutely flock to it in the summer. I get so upset when the state comes along and cuts it but, if I do a more purposeful looking garden, maybe they'll leave it alone.

Thank you! I have a corner spot where the roof is gutterless and pours water that leaks into my basement and this is PERFECT info.

Same with the Lobelia Cardinalis. Couldn’t grow it. This past year it came up in two areas where I directed water off the house.

My cardinal flower comes back but it does so very late in the season. I don't bother the area it grows in.

So, Robert. Thank you very much for the video nicely done. I have a nearly damp spot in my yard that is mostly shaded… I would not call it a bog. A few plants there would mean less mowing; yes, grass grows there during the warmer season. I am probably more focused on foliage, and fairly good-sized somewhere between knee and waist high. It is an area that gets no human visitation so flowers are not really a priority. Anything you could recommend? Thank you very much David in South Carolina

I have almost nine acres of property with a creek running at the edge of the woods. I talked to a neighbor about digging a pond and he said he is concerned about water mocassins. I'm in norhern Florida and would love a water feature but what are your thoughts on this problem? I have a water cooled heat pump and where it exhausts the water, I grow bog type plants...including Button Bush. It's still small, but I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom in the future. Thanks for your advice and I will be getting your pond book.

Thanks for getting the book. How big of a problem are water moccasins? I suspect they are found in a lot of places in Florida, and don't seem to be a big issue. You could ask on our FB group - I am sure we have people there from Florida. facebook.com/groups/buildingnaturalponds
