Pre scored cutting lines n put holes on the skin before seasoning the inside belly...tap your cleaver using a rubber mallet for cleaner cuts...

The reason I love this channel is because it perfectly expresses the beauty and allure of the islands. Recipes which span different cultures with love and respect. My dad used to make Hawaiian style Swedish meatballs, if you have a recipe I would love to try it.

i use a bread knife to cut the pork belly roll. you can make clean cuts with the bread knife without chopping up the skin and meat. mahalo

Aunty, I love watching your videos. I was born and raised in Hawai'i (oahu) but left for college and never moved back. I usually go back home once or twice a year but with Covid it's been difficult getting back. I get my local food fix from watching & trying your videos. I've been looking online for a good mochiko chicken recipe *wink.

Haven't done mochiko chicken yet but it's on the list. I know how it is being away from home. I too went to University of Kansas and didn't even know how to cook rice. I made lots of dumb mistakes but fortunately I watched my mom and everyone and here I am today. Don't give up. Ask me any questions.

There are may recipes that are less time intensive. I'm researching Chinese roast pork in the air fryer that seem to come out so good without the fuss.
