This lecture is brought to you by the CalSouthern School of Business (www.calsouthern.edu/business/) in partnership with the Project Management Institute’s Orange County chapter (www.pmi-oc.org/).
Presenters: Greta Blash and Steve Blash
Description:
Nothing damages a good relationship like a bad conflict. Imagine how much stronger your relationships would be if you really understood what makes people tick-when things are going well and when there is conflict and opposition.
As project managers, we are often faced with difficult situations and must constantly resolve conflicts with our stakeholders or team members. Most of us are conflict averse and want to avoid them-and it’s understandable: what you think is the right way to handle a conflict may be perceived as the wrong way by the other person.
When you choose to have a nice conflict, you’re applying an approach that gets you the results you seek while leaving the relationship stronger and restoring the self-worth of everyone involved. This approach also strengthens relationships by enabling individuals and teams to deploy their individual strengths while enhancing communication, trust, empathy and productive relationships.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the lecture, participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:
• A practical approach to managing and preventing conflicts.
• A relational awareness of conflict that yields tangible results while enhancing relationships.
• Ways to identify conflict triggers in oneself and others.
Bios:

Brave explanations. Conflict is when misunderstanding take place between two party. What I figure in management is. Conflict can take place with two people who are trying to make things work for any products any one bring up may be one person will agree or not. Professor I am enjoying your teaching so much this morning. I am getting confidence to start up this career in the future for my class. Thanks to both of you. Professional explanations.

Although she is very taky, she is very judgemantal about the other archetypes. This is a characteristic that is not very impartial and appears a bit arrogant to me. In my humble point of view it is not a weakness, but the strength that is most worth aspiring when you actually can give in into a conflict for the sake of peace.

Body language from the lady is speaking volumes. Just observe her body language whenever he starts speaking. I think that could be improved to not project the wrong message (i.e that she would rather be the one speaking or that he should hurry up/shut up and get done). Just a little observation. Great points anyway.

This was an OK talk, but for me they lost credibility on how they talked about factory workers. They more or less said you have to dumb it down, well that should not be the case and it showed their ignorance to the blue collar worker.
