The newer style Nozzle Guard pressure washer nozzles are awesome. They provide a level of protection between your paint on the nozzle. But with prices as high as $40 are there any alternatives that serve the same purpose? The answer is YES and in todays video we will be comparing them side by side. Here are the main take aways... If you are looking for an amazing quality nozzle and only need a 40 degree 4.0 size then my recommendation is the Mckillans. If you need other sizes the MTM comes in a huge variety of different degrees and sizes and is an amazing quality nozzle. If your on a budget and want the same style then the Ridge Washer Nozzle Guards available on Amazon are a great choice... ENJOY!!!

Hey Josh, I'm from the Philippines and just received my nozzles identical to the ridge washer today and you uploading this video was very fun to see. I ordered mine from Shopee (basically south east asia's Amazon) with the seller shipping straight from China. It wasn't even branded Ridge Washer where I bought it from but my nozzles are 100% identical to yours, including the branding on the rubber end which I was very surprised to see. Those nozzles have been on sale for around a year for us. Anyways I'm really glad to see your review on them, and I agree they're amazing value for what they are. I only bought the green and white nozzles for $3 each, with free shipping.

So much of the consumer ebay and Amazon grade pressure washer parts from China use 430 stainless, which rust. Or plated steel. Why do you think they are so cheap?
@Sesshomaru474
@Sesshomaru474 4 ай бұрын
You get what you paid for. The reason it's cheap is because it's cheaper to make, aka poorly made, in China. So they still make profit before counting the fact like how they want you to buy nozzles and change them every time, apparently monthly. Just buy a well known brand not in Amazon, since China also make cheap crappy copies. And you take care of them, lasts you your whole life, might even go down through generations.

The Ridge should be the winner on price alone. Slightly less water throughput than the McKillans and the rubber sleeve firmness was in between the McKillans and MTM. Plus the 4.0 Ridge set is currently an additional 15% off.

HELP! Thx for your videos, but this one was very interesting. So I ordered the RIDGE WASHER 4.0 nozzles with the gauge of the same brand. I also ordered the Active short gun (thx for that video) with Yamatic 3/8"x50’ hose. I have an old Simoniz 1900 psi pressure washer (bought in 2002?), so I’m not sure about the specs. I tested with a bucket and it takes 40 seconds to fill one gallon with just the gun, no pressure nozzle, which gives me 1.5 gpm, if I plug the 4.0 nozzle I have 1 gpm. When I use the pressure gauge with the nozzle 4.0 attached, it shows around 525 psi, is that enough for washing a car? Should I go with a 3.0 orifice ? which I believe will give me around 1000 psi if we consider 1.5 gpm. Or should I go with the 2.5 orifice? Any advice?

Josh - curious about your choice of 40 degree nozzle (I’m a newbie). Is it purely convenience - greater coverage - or is there a safety/protection reason over a more narrow stream? I hope you stayed dry over the recent storms (I’m up in Oceanside - 2.5”!!!)

40 degree is chosen for two reasons. Almost no chance of damage to car or trim. Don't have to worry about getting too close. And 40 acts great for creating a water blade for pushing soap of the card after foaming. Most detailers also use a 25 for wheels and wheel well

Which would you get for a ryobi pressure washer 1.2gpm 1600psi
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 5 ай бұрын
either a 2.5 or 3.0 - the 3.0 will drop the psi more but give you m ore gpm flow

The problem I have with the ridge tips is that on my ryobi pressure washer it seems to make it work harder , I hear it forced and not smooth like it does with the ryobi tips. Great video brother
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 5 ай бұрын
Hi the Ryobi tips are usually around a 1.8 - 2.0 orifice. When you go to a larger orifice it will definitely change the sound of the machine but its actually not working harder. If you do an amp test you can see that when increase the size of the orifice it will decrease the amps meaning the machine isnt working as hard. However, if you prefer how the Ryobi tips work, keep tp that cause i havent been able to find an aftermarket nozzle that is as small as those! They work perfect on those ryobi units to get the higher psi numbers!

@imjoshv

As far as orifice size? It depends but if your using an electric ryobi or craftsman or something like that youll probably want the 2.5 or 3.0 for washing cars.

You should have compared all the Ridge Nozzles in the set. I have a set of Ridge Nozzles and one nozzle seems to have a pressure reading that is inconsistent with the rest of the set. So, I’m concluding there might be some quality control issues with orifice size.
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 5 ай бұрын
Ill do some tests and let you know if mine have any change. But if there is inconsistency, mine could be perfect but another set could be slightly off

@@imjoshvI ordered a second set and just received it today. I will test them tomorrow. In my first set, the green nozzle was 150-200 psi lower than the others in the set. I checked the markings and they are all 3.0 orifice size. I’ll let you know the results of tomorrow’s test.

Can you please do a test to see which orifice @ 40-degree works best with the EGO Power+ 3200 PSI. The 40-degree (White) that the unit comes with has the following label: T4056150. So is its orifice...5.6 or 5.0?
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 5 ай бұрын
No their labeling isn’t like the normal labeling unfortunately. The nozzles that come with it are actually quite small. For washing cars I prefer a 3.0 nozzle! At medium power I got 1100 psi and 1.65 gpm and 1200psi 1.7 gpm on high

I just bought that same blue essential swivel gun to finally upgrade from a cheap purple one I was using! It was on sale, but it came with the box open, and the gun rattles inside when handling it. I haven’t had a chance to use it. Is it normal for that gun to make a rattle noise (sounds like a screw is loose inside). I hate to be a pain and return things, so I’m not sure 🤷🏼‍♀️
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 5 ай бұрын
Hmmm hard to tell sometimes just the pivot point for the trigger can make a noise. They are pretty easy to open up and check out just to make sure nothing is rolling around inside. Then try it out to make sure if not having any issues. If you bought it on amazon it’s easy to return!!
