If you don't understand that 4" by the length of the ridge vent gives you X amount of square feet of exhaust vent. Then you need to add up all the bullshit pinholes in the soffit vents. You can only exhaust what you can bring in. The temperature of an attic space is supposed to be as close to the current outside temperature. So do the math genius. You most likely still do not understand the importance behind this. You will have no ice build up on roofs in cold climates. Should have caulked the rivets. May have helped. I didn’t see any rubber washers. But definitely something I would love doing

@@yeahnahsweetas that's what I thought too but somehow it's debated. I've only done a couple smaller roofs so I'm not expert.

Neat. But a rivet to hold the flashing down? The lap will eventually fail due to thermal expansion. A double seal of butyl would have been my choice. Silicone sealant eventually dries and cracks. My screw of choice is a top speed screw and not self drilling.

Why caulk if going to use a fastener without a rubber gasket or at least dab some caulk in the hole you just made though both layers of the cap?

@@kidjeff4304 yeah I guess. But water does travel up hill. Up to like an inch fairly regularly. An extra 10 minutes of work and you make it idk what another 10 or 20 percent water resistant. Maybe it’s overkill but I’d rather have overkill then not when it comes to preventing water damage

That is a nice cap systen that blind nailer is beefie im not sure if i would rivit that between the caulking and the blind nailer crimping the edge and the caulking drying would secure it the seam looked very tight

Not sure about the pop rivet. I’d be anxious about water finding its way into and through the center. The little ball piece does not always stay when exposed to temperature changes, liquids, and vibration. That roof will experience all three.

Just remember all that’s holding your roof together is a lil bit of glue and 2 tiny screws. Ya it’s up to code. A wise man once told me code is the bare minimum. If you built yourself a house and wanted to last 100 years you would go beyond code.

Its a clean lookt for installation but if you ever have to replace/ repair a piece of tin then you have to drill the rivets out just to get to that piece of tin in the roof. Not sure I would donit even on my own place i dont mind replacing roofing screws every so offten on the ridge only and end cap trim. Snap loc or standing seam depending on where you are. Still a beautiful roof
