Nice. I just picked up a Tone (Japan) that is a locking rotory head in 3/8” that uses the smaller casing from a 1/4”. The size is great and little back drag.

I purchased the long one last week just waiting on it to deliver :) I recommend all KTC and Nepros tools to people looking into great quality Japanese made tools. My favorite however being Koken Tools. I have quite a bit of stuff from all 3 I use every day and they are all a joy to use. Tone tools are also nice but only a small percent of their tools are actually manufactured in Japan. Tone ratchets have quite a lot of backdrag and share the same head from some auto part store ratchets.

@@WesleyDropDead glad to see you grabbed one as well. They do an extremely good job manufacturing tools. I’ve already got a few others on the way. I’ve got some Tone as well that I will be reviewing real soon. Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already as we jump into those comparisons. 👍🏻

Ya I have the long one, I also love it. I also bought the tone roto head and I like it also. It is shorter than the long KTC but longer than the short KTC and it also has a small head but the switch is plastic, but it is a double pawl 144 position ratchet. Thanks for the video.
@thingsmen
@thingsmen Ай бұрын
Glad you like. I have my eye on the tone but don’t like the idea of plastic. 144 tooth is a good number though.

As others have already mentioned, when I think Rotohead, I think cheapo tools. But now you have me thinking. I have Koken and Nepros already, but I’ve never considered a rotorhead. The “made in Japan” makes everything better. 😊 I’ll pick up one of these. Thanks for the heads up on this, my tool snob side thanks you! Great channel and great video. Keep them coming! More PB Swiss, KTC and Vessell please.

Glad to hear I could help clear up any past misconceptions of rotoheads. I’ll agree that many past units had their challenges but KTC does an exceptional job tackling them with this stellar ratchet. Nothing wrong with being a tool snob so long as you only purchase the best and it makes it worth your time. 👍🏻 Go ahead and subscribe and I’ll keep bringing the quality content. 😉

I see that you went ahead and pulled the trigger on them!! I guess my comment was that little nudge you needed to pull that ktc roto head ratchet out of the depths of your amazon cart, and finally order it lol. I told you that you'd love it!! I'm actually the one who added all of those photos in the reviews of the ktc ratchet on Amazon comparing it to my snap on roto head ratchet. Not sure if you saw those or not. I may have added them after you purchased it. It is definitely the best roto head ratchet your money can buy in my personal opinion. It put the snap on to shame in just about every category. The back drag is easily twice as good and it only has 72 teeth vs. snap ons 100 teeth, and better than any other roto head ratchet on the market. The head is smaller too!! I wish I had purchsed the ktc 1st because i would have never purchased the snap on. Not to mention, the ktc was 1/4 of the price. Its my new favorite ratchet. I loved it so much that i went back to Amazon and purchased a 2nd one lol. Right now, on Amazon Japan, they are under $50!! An absolutely unbelievable deal for what you get!! You know, the snap on has a nylon backing on the head, which is absolute bs. Like wtf!! How is a $200 ratchet going to have plastic on the head!? Ridiculous! I personally think Japanese tools have surpassed most usa manufactured tools in quality, craftsmanship, and affordability. I recently purchased some tone sockets and the fit, finish, uniformity, and broaching are better than my wright, proto, and sk sockets. Ive been ony ordering Japanese tools this last year or two.

Yes, just needed that nudge. 😆 Thank you for commenting. I truly read and respond to every comment on my channel. It’s a stronger community when we all get involved and share. I agree that the Snap on version with its plastic selector is honestly pathetic. It seems way too common for Roto ratchets as of late. KTC has really hit it out of the part with their smaller yet smoother design. It’s ahead of the pack. Thanks again and keep chiming in. You never know what items I’ll feature each week. 😉

I’ve had mine since they came out, great overall quality and they hold up well, I use these and my snap on rotos interchangeably, like them both equally. just two things to watch for, don’t over lube them, they will skip otherwise, stick to thin oils like you use on guns and knives, and the screws will back out, the anvil will start to get loose, use some blue lock tight and you will be golden.

Machinist here, those ridges are from a lathe , they’re turning marks…. So what happened was the feed was too high resulting in the ridges they were trying to pump these out faster and that finish was okay to QC

Thanks for chiming in and confirming the lathe. It appears to be common amongst the past reviews Ive seen out there. I wonder if it’s purposeful on their part to add texture to the ratchet. Either way I like it. 👍🏻
