I knew a marine once who could name the majority of the colors in a larger box of crayons… Sadly they couldn’t cook anything as complex as jello…. However- they could strip down and clean a rifle just as fast as I could make scrambled eggs… (occasionally faster..)

Sounds like a normal monday in the Warhammer 40k universe. Minus the immortal egyptian robots that want to eradicate all life, the always hungry hive mind creatures that want to consume all life or them pointy-eared freaks who think all life exists to be tortured by them. Thinking about it, a haunted planet is monday morning before you had your coffee. :D

Some of these stories, I like, but I can't stomach the military fap stuff. Makes me want to write about the splintering of humanity into different species due to genetic drift since none of the other groups want to breed with those from Incelidus. Don't think that would go down too well on that forum, though.

Incelidus, as in incels? The HFY stuff was/is created as a response to a lot of sci-fi (& fantasy) that has alien races smarter, stronger, & simply better, almost to Mary Sue range, as compared to humans. HFY flips it on its head, using explicitly calling humans Space Orcs & Earth a Deathworld or the Australia of the galaxy. So yeah, there's fan-boying (girling) over human military badassery. It's nothing to do with the bs incel insult. Write your story. Hope it's good enough to get read. Not going to hold my breath on you actually writing it; & insulting what you acknowledge is a large portion of the fans isn't indicative of someone who could put together a good story. I'd love to be surprised.

@@markuhler2664 I'm more for writing anarchy novels and, no, none of the ideas would fit into this genre but I do like turning ideas on their heads and creating conundrums. A council used to dealing with (and penalising) a cohesive single race having trouble from a war-like faction which is countered by a different faction of the same race - that has possibilities. Incel, HFY, conspiracy theories and the cult of the military are all far-right phenomena and, frankly, are connected. Oh, and being fear driven and fantasising about being inherently better and beating that which they fear - that's been around since the anti-communist movies of the cold war and probably long before that in literature.

Thats kinda the point. The idea is wouldn’t it be funny if humanity was op compared to alien life the thing we have spent years propping up to scare us. And to be honest its all a matter of perspective.To aliens we could be death worlders if they cant breath oxygen ect.

It could be a deathworld in nebula that has driven itself mad, that would explain why we haven’t found anything yet, every other species thinks this is a dead zone.
