I live in Texas where the pickup truck is king. This is the largest single market for pickups in the States and they are easily the family vehicle of choice for most Texans.
I owned a brand new 2007 Silverado back in the day, and while this 2022 Silverado RST Z71 is much newer and more advanced than my pickup, getting in this one definitely felt like coming home.
New for the 22 model is updated front exterior styling with bigger and bolder running lights and turn signals as well as a vastly updated interior. Google infotainment adorns the large, horizontal color touchscreen and a very nice Z71 slash screen greets you across both the gauge cluster and infotainment when you enter.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST Z71 Features:
• 5.3L V8 Engine
• 10-Speed Automatic Transmission
• Autotrac 2-Speed Transfer Case with an Active Automatic 4WD Setting
• 355 Horsepower at 5600 RPM
• 383 lb-ft of Torque at 4100 RPM
• Seating for 5
• Live-axel Rear Suspension
• Automatic Electronic Parking Brake
• Park Grade Hold Assist
• Digital Variable Steering Assist
• Traction Select System with Tow/Haul Mode and Off-Road Mode
• Up to 9,500 lbs. of Max Towing Capacity
• 13.4-inch Color Touchscreen Infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• 12.3-inch Digital Driver Information Center
• Wireless Smartphone Charging
• Proximity Key with Push Button Start
• Starting MSRP $34,600
• MSRP as tested $58,425

I’ve Owned 4 Silverado’s in my lifetime. I just picked up the 2022 LTZ Z71 4WD. By far the smoothest ride I’ve had and the 10 speed trans is awesome. Loving my new truck.

Same here. Just picked up my 4th Silverado (first one was a 1976), 2023 RST Z71 and I agree, great ride, plenty of power with the 5.3. Really enjoying it. Good luck with yours.

Bought a 2022 Silverado LT Z71 with 5.3 v8. Not equipped with active fuel management and I thought I might regret that but this is not the case. My 2011 Silverado LT which I traded in had active fuel management and my mixed driving mpg was 17.3 with my best highway mpg being just over 20 mpg. My new Silverado without fuel management due to chip shortage has been averaging about 18 mpg mixed driving and my highway mpg is in the 21 or 22 range. I have actually reached as high as 25 mpg on pure highway trips. So if you are concerned about chip shortages eliminating active fuel management don't be. Super satisfied with my purchase. Love the comfortable ride, interior refresh is great ,and the light tailgate is awesome compared to the heavy tailgate on my 2011. I do like the RST trim package better and thats the only thing I regret not getting.

About 6 months ago, I walked on the Chevy lot, saw the 2022 Z71 RST, took her for a spin, and it was love at first sight! I knew I had to have it. In a few months, I'll be trading in my 2017 Traverse base model for this truck and shell be my new business vehicle. When you're a bad ass dog trainer, you need a bad ass vehicle (truck)! Thank you for this video! I learned a lot and can't wait to own one soon.

I just bought the 2022 Silverado with the 5.3 liter engine and with the RST and Z71 packages. The RST for 2022 comes with 18 inch wheels, no spray on bedliner, and the dynamic fuel management system was not installed on the 2022 models, but it was brought back for 2023. The spray on bedliner and the 20 inch wheels are optional for the RST Z71 packaged trucks. I do like my new truck a lot and am looking forward to driving it for a very long time.

I got: RST - most value trim Glacier blue metallic - best color No Z71 - better fuel efficiency & better on road manners with no lift and no off road tires 2WD - going to use brand new truck for on road only. Not going to abuse it off road. So opted out of 4WD and saved money. 5.3 - 87 octane fuel, more fuel efficient than 6.2. Adequate power Column shifter - love the mechanical manly feel over an electronic shifter & got six seat configuration with middle seat fold up when required. Overall I got $8k off MSRP so brought down $55k to $47k

Just purchased a 2022 Silverado 1500 RST crew cab Glacier blue. 5.3 10 speed transmission. Ride is smoother than my 2018 was. However I will say I feel the truck is more narrow than my 2018 was. Both had the 40/20/40 front seating. The other thing not standard that should be is the rear armrest and storage. The new interior is nice for looks but materials are still cheap though.

Hows ride quality compared to Ford/Ram/Tundra?
@GTGarageTalk

As good or better than Ford. Not as good as the coil springs in the Ram or Ford Lightning (which is the best IMO) We have a Tundra coming in a couple of weeks to test.

@@GTGarageTalk could you put coil spring on a silverado aftermarket? Was wondering, becuase I agree I think the RAM rides the best. But the Silverado has the better curb appeal/ sporty look. Really trying to figure out which one to get. RST Or big horn. Towing is irrelvant, mainly looking from an overall perspective around 60k

@@GTGarageTalk that’s even worse news. That supposed to make me or future sicker buyers feel better?? This is my second bad experience with Piss poor products from Chevy. Had a 2016 Silverado. Had an electrical issue that affected everything in the car. Lost power steering and transmission wouldn’t shift out of gear going 70 mph on the highway. Happened multiple times after being “repaired multiple times. And that was also around 60k miles. Shame on me for trusting Chevy again and thinking that I got a lemon. Now I know that it’s just a crappy product made by a crappier company. Good luck to anyone who thinks you’ll get up to 100k miles without having any major issues with anything made by this company. 👋

There’s always that one guy that’s gotta complain. Every single manufacture out there has its own set of issues it’s merely luck of the draw some trucks are flawless some aren’t that goes for every brand. So good luck buying anything new if that’s how you feel. And as mentioned the new silverados have a 10 speed now . Personally I’ve owned chevys for the last 10 years and they have been good to me especially my brand new 2022.5 duramax Silverado best truck I’ve ever owned and with the 100k mile warranty I don’t have a worry in the world about the truck. Hope you have better luck in the future
