Saratoga Springs resort is absolutely amazing! I've stayed there a few times and always feel like Royalty! The cast members are great! The pools are great! The only downside is the food, but you're within walking distance of Disney Springs.

Bought resale in 2010 at SSR - $68 a point for that exact reason. We added on resale points at AKV 4 or 5 years ago - $90 a point. After our upcoming trip, we will have stayed at all the WDW resorts as well as Aulani. We never book at 11 months. It was the best deal then and now IMO.

My wife and I are in California and have our direct points at Aulani. We love the proximity of Boardwalk and Beach Club to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios, but a lot of the DVC rooms at both resorts are a hike! We only get to WDW once every 3-4 years with our son. So when we do go, we love to book different resorts. We were a studio family when we bought, but when we had to "settle" on a refurbished 1 bedroom at Boardwalk and a 1 bedroom at Old Key West, we instantly became a 1 bedroom family! We're planning on resale, but we keep debating between Saratoga and OKW-2057.

I bought OKW because the points were cheap, and the rooms are huge, if needed, so far I have stayed at the POLY, BOARDWALK and SARATOGA SPRINGS....staying at OKW for the first time end of July in a 3BR Grand Villa

Just got back from studio at jambo house. The sleep on couch was unsleepable. Called housekeeping and they gave us an eggcrate to put on top. Still a lousy sleep! Better sleep on a Holiday Inn bed. I own at animal kingdom and I am so angry that they haven’t updated to the same pull down beds like Saratoga.

I bought enough points for 1 beds to sleep around and generally as a result stay where I want. Then I visited SSR post refurb and had such a lovely time it became my favourite resort so will now be staying at the resort I bought sleep around points for. So go figure! Love rooms (some of best on property) lovely grounds. Pools are some of the best. Gym May be the best. Quick Serve is great. Theming lovely, love the atmosphere to me it’s a bit like Boulder Ridge around High Rocks pool. Love that trumpet every hour. Go look at Grandstand pool building- it’s like a freakin’ stable even inside. Unique colours. Look at the fountains, lakes and statues. Low points, get boat or walk to the best restaurants on property (big fans of Boathouse, Art Smith etc). I see that post refurb SSR is suddenly getting the love it deserves. We like walking and large grounds. Boulder Ridge has had its test corridor and rooms done for ages- suspect they put off running it out due to the decision to build VGF 2 and they needed to refurb VGF 1 quick. When there go down the corridor first floor to see- maybe you’ll get access.

We bought in 2003 at Wilderness, a name we much prefer over what it is called now. Also due to Covid, and life in general, haven't been in years.At the time we only missed out going to Beach Club, we could never get reservations there, but stayed at every other DVC resort. Up until Covid we used our Wilderness points at Grand California, and Disneyland Hotel.

We recently stayed at Saratoga Springs in a studio. We were staying with our niece and nephew. My assessment is that I don’t recommend 4 adults staying in a refurbished room at SS. There is no table and chairs to sit at for breakfast if the Murphy bed is down. I am a physician, and I need to answer messages while on vacation. The table and chairs were very nice for doing computer work. We had to stand to eat breakfast. Then, later on, when my niece and nephew got up, I tried to do computer work on the idiot pull up table. Rolled the table over my big toe. It has just healed over, three weeks later. We stayed at Carousel area. Any pool, laundry, or bus is quite a hike from that area. We own at both AKV and SSR. We have owned since 2003,and usually I would use SSR points at 11 mos and change to AKL at 7 mos. My latest experience, specifically AKV wasn’t available for our most recent trip, I am seriously considering getting rid of the SSR contract.

I bought Saratoga Springs in 2020 for $100pp. Not been able to use it yet as a UK buyer travel restrictions. Similar contracts are now listed at $145pp. I could sell now and make $4k (after dues) profit without even using it. Crazy! (I won't though 😜)

I own SS but usually stay elsewhere due to Boardwalk being our favorite. But, I just saw the lobby refurb for SS and am totally amazed! I so wanna stay there now! Did they refurb the Tree house yet? If you don't care about where you sleep on WDW property, a Marriott resale week is by far the best ownership you can possibly get. SSR and OKW 1 bedroom exchanges only are ~$1300/week if you buy a 2 bedroom lock off Marriott week resale for about $3,000 resale and split the lock off into 2 units and get 2 weeks to deposit into Interval International. Marriott weeks get Marriott priority, which makes it pretty easy to access their prime locations like Aruba, St. Thomas, Maui and Ko Olina (right next to Aulani). When I venture out to Hawaii, I plan on exchanging the studio portion of my Marriott lock off for a Ko Olina studio for about $700 for the whole week, then use my DVC points to add another 3-4 nights at Aulani at the end of my stay when I'm not so jet lagged. Most DVC owners hate hearing this,[ but I honestly feel like Marriott is a better company to own resale than DVC. I own both, but I'd rather stay at OKW and SSR and have that option to go to any of their other locations then be stuck going to WDW every single time if I wasn't fortunate enough to own in both system. Also, the revenue generated from selling 75 DVC points is enough to cover the cost of doing an Interval International exchange into a OKW or SSR unit that costs around 200 DVC points to book direct.

The Polynesian is my home resort! As a gay couple with no kids who tend to park hard it’s an ideal situation for us because studios are almost always available we love it. I might have to take a break from watching these shows though until I pay down some debt because every time I watch I want to buy a new contract! I’m only kidding I’ll still watch every week thank you for the content.

For the Grand Californian, you need to own or it needs to be extremely last minute. For the WDW properties, you can basically find 1 bedroom space all day long at 7 months out. Studios are much harder to come by, and so are 2 bedrooms that rely on the studio lock off to be a 2 bedroom. If you only want to stay at a studio, the best availability you'll find at less than 7 months out is Saratoga and Old Key West.

When factoring in contract length to overall value, don't forget to be realistic about your own age. Yes, my Riv contract is technically an incredible value based on the years left, but I'll be in my 90s towards the end of the contract and 101 when it expires. When I look at value of contract length, I don't really consider past 2057, the expiration of my AKV contract when I'll be 88 and at the high end of when I'm likely to still be traveling. Anything past that is unreasonable for me to factor into value.
@HandburglarPro2 жыл бұрын
I'll be just shy of my 92 birthday when my Aulani points expire in 2062, which makes Saratoga (2054), Old Key West extension (2057), Bay Lake Tower (2060), and Animal Kingdom Lodge (2057) top on my list to add on. For the later expiring resorts, I'm paying for value I won't get to enjoy.

While I like the overall appearance of Saratoga Springs, it’s only convenient to Disney Springs. That and we only had one good experience with the resort when it first opened. The two other times we stayed (to try and give it another chance), we’re horrible. Whether it be the lack of cleaning of the HVAC ducts (my youngest contracted pneumonia due to this) or the overall condition of the room (last stay was in 2017, just before the refurbishment). For these reasons, I can’t bring myself to stay there again anytime soon. As always, Disney can change my mind. We’ll have to give it a try in the coming years when it’s just a quick trip with no parks involved.

I stayed at Boulder Ridge in 2008 and I thought it was disgusting then. And my room overlooked where the housekeeping trucks were - holding clean towels wrapped in plastic - which kind of grossed me out. But beep beep beep at 5 am. But I would not walk around without shoes on. And I got my whole family to stay there. Oof.

I bought SSR in 2020 during the buyback freeze at $81 pp (I'm not joking, but to be fair it was a stripped contract) Trust me, I am well aware of how well SSR is doing....it's tough for me to not want to sell the contract and make serious money in less than 2 years.

Question just thought of. If you buy a small contract of 50 points at BLT but the rest of your points are at OKW, can you book a trip with all of your points? Meaning, if the stay at BLT it 125 points, can you use your 50 for priority 11 month window and use the rest of what you have as well? Or can only use the 50? Thank you.
@nycp19692 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised AKV wasn't mentioned as good sleep around points. It's on a par with SSR for contract cost. Since my contract didn't cost that much, I don't mind taking my points to other less "prestigious" resorts like SSR and OKW to take advantage of their availability and low points charts. But I guess this isn't the lens they used for sleep around points. They are talking about dues as well, and they're a bit high at AKV. But for me, I don't think I'd want to use BLT or Polly points at other resorts, since these resorts are expensive and sought after.

Do you know how to file taxes due to 1099-K for point sales. Can a Schedule D be used to offset gains for point sales of DVC as a Timeshare and not be considered a company for the sales, and have to use a Schedule C. This issue will affect DVC point sales from here forward for all DVC sellers. Your thoughts are requested.

For Copper Creek, and as you come in the front door at Wilderness Lodge, the DVC rooms are all in the right side wing of the lodge. Boulder Ridge is in a separate building from the main lodge building and behind the cabins on the east side of the lodge.
